False and Naïve Expectations Can Ruin Hard Won Peace

Peace has dawned upon Sri Lanka. For the first time in 27 years Traditional New Year celebrations took place in an atmosphere of peace. First peaceful Independence Day, first peaceful Christmas and the first peaceful election were other firsts lately. Will peace last?

Answers depend on the sentiments in formerly war-torn areas. After the wipe out of the LTTE, violence is not a yardstick to measure the level of peace. But the voting pattern is. Has anything changed in the voting pattern of North-East Tamils in 2010? The answer is not much. Even the small change that has taken place cannot be attributed to a lasting and genuine factor. For instance armed paramilitary politico-military groups roam the streets of Jaffna District. Interestingly they only managed to win seats in the Jaffna District! It says a lot about the real reasons for their bettered performance. Displaced civilians cause another complexity. Only some displaced civilians were provided with facilities to vote. In another strange outcome, displaced civilians overwhelmingly voted for the government minister in charge of their welfare who was active in arranging them transport facilities on the election day!

These abnormalities clearly are exceptions than the norm of North-East voting pattern. If people were allowed to vote in an atmosphere of no IDPs and no armed paramilitaries, the result would have been different. In making long term assessments, these exceptions have to be taken out of the picture because IDPs will be soon resettled fully and armed paramilitary groups will eventually be forced to toe the line.

A clear, unbroken voting pattern

When these anomalies are taken out, a clear picture emerges that is the natural voting pattern of Tamils in the North-East ever since 1947. Unlike in other parts of the country, in North and the East, Tamil voters have always predominantly voted for racist political parties. This strange phenomenon is not unique to Tamils in Sri Lanka’s North and the East. It is also clearly visible in Tamil Nadu, India. Almost all other Indian states follow collective political ideologies.

e.g. secular nationalism, communism

However, racism seems to be the dominant political ideology of Tamil Nadu as it is in North and East Sri Lanka. Dravida Munethra Kazakham and All India Anna Dravida Munethra Kazakham are the dominant political parties of Tamil Nadu. Dravida is one big race that is made up of a number of Dravidian races including Tamil. North and East of Sri Lanka, and Tamil Nadu account for over 41 Tamil/Dravida political parties. Political ideology of these parties is Tamil/Dravida racism.

Since 1947, the following parties dominated Tamil politics of Northern and Eastern Sri Lanka in terms of voter numbers; All Ceylon Tamil Congress, Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi, Tamil United Liberation Front and Tamil National Alliance.

Tamil votes at the 2010 General Election in the North and the East

If what the UPFA scored island-wide is a landslide, Tamil racist parties have won a landslide among Tamil voters in the North and East. But unlike the UPFA, Tamil racist ideology always won in the North and the East. Tamil voters’ percentage is assumed to be same as ethnic distribution of the district. Votes for Tamil racist ideologies are votes received by Ilankai Tamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK), Akila Ilankai Thamil Congress and Thamil Makkal Viduthalai Pulikal.

Trincomalee shows the highest percentage of 84% which is significant because the ITAK leader contested from the Trincomalee district. Jaffna and Vanni show low percentages because EPDP and aligned parties threw their weight around ably supported by their armed cadres. Voters’ turnout in these two election districts was low which helped this outcome.

National Security Implications

Political parties with racist or religious ideologies may they be Tamil, Sinhala or Muslim don’t go well with national security interests. Ethnic harmony and secularism are the best tools for maintaining national security. These parties not only stand in the way of ethnic harmony but openly preach racism and violence. ITAK has a long history of engaging in violence against ethnic Muslims and Sinhalas in the North and the East. Starting from 1949, ITAK carried out a number of apparently peaceful campaigns to win a separate state for Tamils including civil disobedience campaigns. However, due to the very racist nature of these campaigns they turned violent. 1958 riots broke out as a direct result of the highly racist and discriminatory “tar-brush campaign” of the ITAK where Sinhala letters were erased in all public places by applying tar on them which is a direct adaptation of the “tar-brush campaign” carried out by Tamil Nadu communalist politicians earlier against Hindi speaking people.

ITAK has again threatened civil disobedience campaigns unless their demands are granted.

It is wrong to call these “Gandhian ways” of peaceful protest. Unlike the ITAK, Gandhi never made racist demands. This type of action should be handled using force since it can arouse racial violence and is an insult to the good name Gandhi.

Communal political parties demand that security forces are withdrawn from the North East since the war has ended. If done, this can seriously jeopardize national security.

Fourth danger of communalist parties is that they act as secret promoters of separatism even when the LTTE has been wiped out. They, along with sections of the LTTE Diaspora can destabilize Sri Lanka and India. In the remote possibility of a referendum in the North East of Sri Lanka for separation, an overwhelming ‘yes’ vote would mean immense pressure on the island nation to honour their ‘democratic’ right.

However, racist political ideologies cannot be forcibly suppressed. This is especially so when Tamil Nadu, Sri Lanka’s closest neighbour and the global defender of Tamil rights is heavily controlled by communal politics.

How to Face the Danger

The only democratic way to diffuse racism in politics is to ethnically integrate North East so as to make racist politics irrelevant. Success of it is seen from the election results of Trincomalee District. Although more than 80% Tamils voted for a communalist party, it lost thanks to large scale multi-ethnic settlement programs since Independence. Digamadulla is another example. Since the split from Batticaloa District, population diversity of the Digamadulla District has increased.

These proven peace building tactics should now be applied in the Northern Province.

Lousy political solutions without addressing the core issues of racism will create more trouble for the nation. Most suggested solutions will in fact empower racist political parties in a decentralized setting! That would be a total disaster regionally, nationally and internationally. This is the reason why the Northern Provincial Council has not been convened, almost a year after the war ended. A Provincial Council controlled by politicians with a racist ideology will pander into the highly active Tamil Elam campaign abroad.

Tamil Elamists should not be allowed to get peacefully what they couldn’t get in the battlefield. If danger to the nation is so grave that no other means would work, there should be no hesitation to use the military to sufficiently crush the rebellion. However, the smart thing to do is not to use the military at all. That can only be done with a process of mass ethnic integration in formerly war affected areas.

When should it start? Now. That’s because good times won’t last. While the time is right, maximum number of new multiethnic settlements has to be established in the North East.

Experimenting with untested solutions is equal to not having a solution at all. It is the noble duty of all peace loving Sri Lankans, not just patriots and nationalists, to compel the government to give a political solution based on multiethnic settlements in the North. This duty must be discharged for the sake of future generations to live in peaceful, multiethnic communities devoid of all chances of war, separation and racism. Peace loving people should not fall for crocodile tears of racist elements who will oppose multiethnic settlements in North East. Hidden behind these apparently meekly acts are the cruel intentions of racism. Anyone opposing any reasonable form of multiethnic settlements is a supporter of racism and should be treated as such. New laws are needed to punish those who don’t recognise the fundamental right of any Sri Lankan to live in any part of the island nation. And new laws should totally ban separatism and racist political parties that would divorce North East politics from Tamil Nadu politics. Adjusting the number of parliamentary seats based on new population figures is another requirement. Essential powers needed for counter-terrorism and counter-separatism now included in Emergency Regulations should be separately enacted with minimum hindrances to civilian life. Such laws should be operational by default without having to pass it in parliament month to month. Only other provisions of Emergency Regulations should remain needing parliamentary sanction monthly, if required to be implemented.

So, where have all the pretending to be Sinhela, anti-MR, anti-MR GOSL bloggers such as "parrots of pakis.." gone?

See, from the very beginning I knew that type of whore was a LTTE undercover op here...and that is why I used to treat 'em MF with "extreme prejudice" in my choice-words dispensation!!!

:)) :)) :))

Anyway, fcuk, life is boring without them LTTE whorebithes...was real fun bashing 'em mommafcukers and see them squirm in pain (as manifested in their responses/posts)!

Yes I for one always thought they deserved zero respect/tolerance from us and am glad I applied myself in the renowned "OaOA" style (as their absence soon post-GE proves their agenda was not at all battling for the welfare of SL).

Moral of the lesson: Democracy is a healing and sustaining medicine and it must be taken with proven, measured & evaluated doses and rejected at other times.

Colonization...or Recolonization as I say (such as Recolonization of land overgrown by weeds, forrest) is the way for the future of SL.

Believe me, there are some "others" besides you and me who understand the value, the indispensable value that is, of that goal but at the same time, the approach to that goal should not be with fanfare, hoola & dance or fireworks...hence that is why things may seem kinda frustrating at this early stage in the game.

Recolonization = Ethnic Integration and in my view that is also the Mahinda-Chintanaya that we voted for.

No, I am not seeing any "caving in" of the imperatives-at-hand from this GOSL machine vis-a-vis that side...at least not just yet.

But if I do, then I will be the BITCH FROM HELL that this UPFA regime will meet in 6 years time - for sure!

New Minister gives new deadline

The new minister of resettlement Milroy Fernando says that all displaced families will be resettled within the next six months. The minister said in Vavuniya that more than 80,000 displaced people living in resettlement camps would be resettled.

Minister Milroy Fernando who made his first visit to the resettlement camps was told by Premaratna Sumathipala, the former co-ordinator of the Resettlement Ministry that the officials of the ministry of resettlement were not efficient enough in delivering the expected outcome.

Mr.Sumathipala said that such officials who he believed were associates of the former minister in charge of resettlement need to be replaced.

A number of displaced people said that they had not been adequately compensated.

Minister Fernando promised to look in to all compensation claims and adequately address their grievances.

He further said not only those who have been displaced by fighting would be resettled but also those who braved the war in their villages would also be benefited.

Last para... I don't get it. It is the kinda talks that we shud be doing... smthing tells me. But talks shud be walked in right fashion and passion.

Milroy suddenly gets the patriotic limelight. We're watching mr Minister

13. STOP giving SL citizenship to ANYONE without a SL birth certificate.

SL is the only country a grama sevaka MF can grant citizenship!!! what a fcuking joke.

tamil madu is a bottomless (toilet) pit. we have to stop them now or kill them tomorrow. why cruelty?? lets stop them today so that we don't have to kill them tomorrow.

HAVING SAID THAT there is another aspect to it. MOST educated upcountry tamils end up reasonably good SLs. not patriots though. but that's good enough.

they actually bolster the numbers of good citizens. but we have to put a lid. buggers coming nowadays are total crap.

unless cheap labourers are stopped coming to SL, our farmers will not use productivity improvement technics.

well done kushbookundi!!

"Actress Kushboo was accused of outraging public decency and 22 cases were filed against her in 2005.

Kushboo said she was "relaxed and relieved" after the court order.

The remarks stirred controversy in a conservative country where pre-marital sex and live-in relationships are still considered a taboo.

Some Tamil nationalist political groups had accused the actress of making derogatory and obscene remarks against Tamil culture.

In a 2005 interview Kushboo said it was not wrong for women to have pre-marital sex as long as they took precautions.

She said that it was also "not fair of any educated youth to expect his wife to be a virgin".

Several cases were filed against her across Tamil Nadu in various courts under different sections of the Indian penal code.

The Madras high court had earlier rejected her appeal to dismiss the cases against her.

But last month, the Supreme Court endorsed the right of unmarried couples to live together.

The judges said that even Hindu Gods Lord Krishna and Radha were co-habiting lovers."

Court marshal will probably find him guilty. But appeal court may not. I am positive that appeal court will release the scum. Even if court do otherwise MR will be under pressure both within SL and outside to pardon the scum as for T’nayakam. Then there will come (take revenge from GR/MR + do as west say) part which is going to be the disaster for SL. This will be facilitated by both fake and genuine Gonz worshippers.

a three way battle of seemingly patriotic forces.

3. gonz

core votes
UNP - 35%
UPFA - 30%
JVP - 5%
idiots - 2%

28% floating. this will be divided.

both main parties will try to please thonda, hack-him if the MF UNFORTUNATELY survives, TNA crappies.

in this battle OBVIOUSLY gonz won't get them. what gonz will do is, ridicule the MOST patriotic camp.

we have to eliminate this possibility by either sending gonz to prison for 7+ years or sending him to hell.

ALL govt's get unpopular within a year. then it is BUSINESS AS USUAL.

Robert O Blake visits SAARC village to meet MR
By Janaka Alahapperuma
Apr 29, 2010

US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert O Blake visited the Sri Lankan House in the SAARC village in Thimpu, Bhutan to meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa ahead of the SAARC Summit. Former US Ambassador for Colombo Mr Blake is in Thimpu now, discussed the recent developments following the Presidential and General elections in Sri Lanka. However further details of the discussion was not made available.
Mr Blake who made many controversial comments against President Rajapaksa's government leads the US observer delegation to the Thimpu SAARC summit. He will hold bilateral talks with the South Asian leaders on the margins of the summit.

-------------------------------
What can we do to get this guy off our back? Maybe a string operation like in Russia. Most probably where we might have gone wrong was trying to entice him with Models. As MD suggested it is about time we try to set him up with a HOMO.

Also, Bhutan must be protected. This places is one of the best places in this planet. 75% Buddhists, 24% Hindus, and 1% other religions. I don't believe it is open to the world yet. The son of the king is Western educated and might bring in the western decease to the nation. Maybe Blake is trying to figure out ways to destroy that nation as well.

WTF is Blake doing at SARRC?

MR has got to stop making himself "available" for every low life that comes to the country (or to see him) espiecally if they are suddhas. We are devaluing our presidency and bolstering the ego of these nobodies (Western diplomats and other unheard of scrooges like Western media) who then try and be some bodies off Sri Lanka, doing extensive damage. Remember that SoB Chillcott from the British HC?

Sri Lanka could have advised Bhutan not to give this fucker a visa, saying a “technical issue” or problem at the visa office, and instead invite the US faggot in New Dehli (or in Bhutan) as a representative. US would not do anything to Bhutan as India consider it as "part" of India.

I seriously think we should lay honey traps, money traps, paedophile traps and homo traps for these people. Especially the NGO monkeys.

Just imagine a police “sting” operation to catch a paedophile ring and Western ambassadors/journalists are arrested (or the NGO zoo members). The media headlines would be huge. The damage to them would be unbelievable. They will deny and protest their innocence but it does not matter.
Government would not need to do anything either propaganda/media wise such stories will write themselves lol .

If need be to give them more credibility can invite a private channel like Adaderana and Island paper to take part too (call it a “joint investigation” –Adaderana/Islands role is to “raise public awareness” about peadohpiles).

As a result suddha’s bs against SL can then be twisted as: “you only wanted to stop the war so while we are ‘distracted’ with it you can carry out these disgusting activities”, “look who the real human rights abuses are”, “you wanted the LTTE around to do these sort of things”(that last one really happened).

Best of all no need to “go to court” (our idiot courts would release them anyway due to “lack of evidence”).

And to prevent any leaks of this (like a Gonz episode) we can actually have the police doing a real sting operation making them think they are getting a paedophile ring, while the “target” suddha is lead to the site thinking they are going to “get evidence” for human rights violations/war crimes (or meet a contact to make more of this bs up, they would jump at the chance).

Government can then release them saying “we are under international pressure”.

Gonseka and JVP want to talk about HR. Why give this SoB a platform like our Parliament to carry out his contractual agreements against the nation? This might be what Blake came to see MR about (hand out a few threats).

I do not like this, but we need to get rid of him.

I to have the same disgusting feeling about MR making his time available to this diplomatic ape who threatened MR to drag the country in to bogus war crime charges. Whatever it is, we know that Robert Blake is not there help Sri Lanka but to extend his tool of interference.

Still I have the confidence in MR that he will give the middle finger cloaked in a Sri Lankan style smile.

Thusitha,

Blake is a bit like Gonseka.

He has a MASSIVE EGO.

He did not get "red carpet" treatment from "citizen" Gota and he is pissed about it.

His mission was to save the LTTE and "low level citizen" GR gave him the finger. That is his personal problem. Also MR screwed around with him at the end.
On a professional level it is looking after US strategic interests. For this snake both personal and professional agendas go together.

One thing is certain. A lot of Western countries are pissed because back in May 2009 on the 17th/18th when we announced war was over and we had killed Praba (well around that time) they were furiously phoning MR asking/begging if Prabha was alive and to save his miserable life (along with the rest of the LTTE leadership). On the Monday MR said "yes yes he is alive". Next day SLRC broadcasts his head. LOL.

The whole point in the human shield was to save the LTTE leadership. This is what they begged from SL and the fact we didn’t do it is why there is such “energy” to get revenge. That does not mean the BS against SL would never happen it would not be as intense.

If the LTTE leadership was alive everything would continue as normal, i.e. suddha would have their military hit team in SL still intact, internally we would not feel as secure, “threats” of violence and war would be there forever and would not be good for the economy (hence why now suddha is finding new ways to punish us on this front). With the LTTE leadership gone everything collapsed in SL as we saw, the much hoped for “new generation of tiger (Jeremy Page)” and “low level long term insurgency (Gonz)” never materialised.

This might also explain Gonseka role. He kept on saying in May (while taking pot shots at the Navy Commander): “Praba had escaped by sea”, “Praba and family are in India”, “Praba and family are in Malaysia”, so on and so forth.

Anonymous said...

Sam,

Its not just this SoB Blake.

It is other low level suddha emissaries, including Ambassadors here.

MR should not always meet them. We are devaluing our Presidency. I know MR likes to be in the thick of things, but he should send a message to these white apes and their UN gondas. Meeting MR should be DENIED.

If need be messages can be conveyed. But the best message is sent, MR does not see them fit for his time. (If it is one of their foreign ministers or something higher then MR should meet them AFTER meeting our FM first).

Besides they are only here to hand him threats and push their agendas (so called “diplomacy”).

And its not just MR. Why is it our Military commanders give an “audience” to these SoBs at all? (like Gonseka did). They do it to elicit information covertly (Gonz being a retard fell for it). Any such meetings should be completely banned.

During the war we allowed too much of this. While it maybe our welcoming culture, to suddhas it is a sign of weakness and green light for them to show little respect. It also swells their egos.

Some time back socialists blogs were almost closed circles. But the SF saga made their doors open. Today a significant amount of patriots [SF faction] refer to them. Take them like gospel, and spread teh shit. So sites like taboo, W3Lanka, Boondi, Beyond Frame etc are no longer in isolation.

Most ppl are not ready to detect their subtle form of propaganda. This poem is straight forward, most others are not.

So it is of paramount importance to counter them. I leave my mark whereever I find them.

Boondi [which you saw] is even beyond this point. They're primarily standing for sinhala literature. They publish poetry, even as books. But in it they pack the message. So I am compelled to believe that they have a wider userbase than leftists+SF faction.

I feel taht this is beyond the importance than in international front. Worst is that it is growing.

All those media and artists scums were hopeless after losing VP. But Gonseka U turn gave them new hope. Wijeweera got only 3 lax votes but all JVP followers were very hopeful until he was alive. Same was true for LTTE followers. They had a big hope on RW but he proved again and again he can't deliver. Gonseka will be no different. But this sorry lot now have a new hope and they are kicking. As long as scum is alive this will grow...

My concern if not regarding SF RW or even VP. Also the writers of these subtle media movements do not hope for either.

They are gently brainwashing the ppl of SL. It is subtle, disguised and comes in a parcel [say Boondi for literature].

Most ppl who get exposed to get charmed by them and gently get converted. It is like a religious conversion.

In the past they were closed forums of their own friends. Today the blogs are frequently visited by many. And it is a gentle approach to win their sympathy for project eelam.

Pitastharaya whom we discussed sometime back is one of them. You can see how deep penetrative his message was. It was an innocent, subtle and gentle message not to trouble Jaffna ppl by visiting there. Underneath is the obvious attempt to stop teh Sinhala ppl entering there.

It was appearing in most ppl's F/B, and mailed around until it reaches Lakbima. So you cannot ignore it.

Latest path to Eelam is not hatred revenge or blood. It is Meththa. It is not their Meththa, but ourr Meththa. Meththa for eelam.

It is at threatening levels, the propaganda.

This sort of brainwashing and propaganda was there for decades. Only difference now is they are on web in new level. They are 1% in numbers but propaganda is like they are 99%. Similar ti JVP/LTTE... Yes we need to do counter attack/propaganda. I think we need to have a method to absorb people from tamil/muslim communities to nationalistic camp as well. Means their eqvuivalent within tamil/muslim communities.

will be interesting to see some diplomats squirm.

Sujeewa Kokawala said...

Shit is ready to hit the ceiling. What did we do? We gave MR a near 2/3 which is at TNA's length.

Had it been 130 seats today the MR side is working on how they can grab anti-RW UNP to fill the gap. Anti-RW unp is the best UNP can produce.

And those 6 odd zoo animal like patriots would be valued like gold in a 130 scenario.

Worst nightmare I foresaw is happening now. [UPFA + TNA - Patriots] > 150.

Now there is nothing stopping it.

Note that MR is a master of propaganda. Also he has a good sense about social thresholds. There will be nothing fancy in so called "devolution". Someone will even justify that it is TNA who had to give in so much and GOSL won it overall.

But it is yet another shit bucket of a devolution. We already have one imposed in 1987. This one will also be rejected by so called international tamils almost instantly, and despised by the poison fed local communities. TNA may loose some popularity, until when they walk over it perhaps again declaring eelam like Wardharajah did.

But by that time there will be another system of a white elephant, who's not accepted by anyone while govt is working on the same as a drug addict. A hefty lot of time will be wasted, entire round of admin circles will be messed up, lots of pro-TNA negotiations made and lots of national security breaches were created by the name of power devolution. And at the end, it will gather the poison fed tamils to one camp, one agitated camp against yet another bogus solution.

Meanwhile all important topics like colonization will just die down.

Now, the overwhelming majority we gave to SLFP yesmen is coming back at us, isn't it?

IF TNA wants to join UPFA then they should

1. Reject NE tamiz homeland BS + (mainly all 4 Thimpu conditions)
2. Accept unitary SL
3. Apologize to all civilians for crimes they did
4. Accept mahinda chinthanaya

or stay in opposition and support UPFA.

IF UPFA chase away WW/PCR (JHU/JNP) and accept TNA it will be begening of end. If WW/PCR (JHU/JNP) too accept them that will be their end. This is good way to put down nationalistic camp... MR/GR and lot of patriots sweated last stages of the EELAM war. I don't think it is likely that they would allow this hard earned victory, which we paid in blood will go in vain by giving in to the separatist agendas. I think MR has to play a political game, while maintaining a strong path of development.

Also the rate of EI would be much higher than in the past where we created Janapadhakaranaya. I believe the peoples fear of movement is much lower now, and young generations are much open to move to different areas of the country based on economic growth. Therefore what we need do is to concentrate all our effort in to the development of the North east and put enough mechanism so that Sinhalese also can get employment in those places.
If Sinhalese can be a minority within Colombo, it is not a hard thing for us to make Tamils a minority in the Northern Regions of the country. Even if they aren't a minority, but if we have a substantial presence in those regions, the demands for a separate state for TE could easily be stopped. This is what China has effectively done in the Tibetian and Xinjiang regions.

Moshe and Other,
This is the solution to quickly achieve EI/Recolonization.

Agriculture project are really profitable in SL now. Companies were strugling to find land through GOVT in trouble free areas before for their projects. There is a successful project started by greenfiend in Vanathavilluwa and same model farm concept can coverted to a agri village concept. Where a enterpanuer, who can afford financially and has courage can submit proposals to request lands from north for the project.
As a example, if you request 300acre land for the project, you can block 100 of 3 acre lands to give for young families, who would like to do live and work in the farm.
Company would manage all labour, technology and dealing with market. A familly can earn 40-50k RS/month from farming only. Campany, who start the project and also profit emensely and I believe this is the way to go, rather expecting everything from Govt.

This exactly what Evergreen company does with few differences. Here I am proposing to give land plots to buys for for very low rate, who would live or keep a familly to provide labour for the company.
If somebody start, i am ready to buy several plots

This is a good business guys, if you have courage to embark on.

"Sri Lanka will celebrate the “Ranaviru Sathiya – War Heroes’ Week” from May 12 to 18, says Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa while engaging in an informal chat with the media at Elephant Pass in Vanni, where he unveiled a monument to commemorated those who sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism.

The Defence Secretary also said that the week will end with the Victory Day celebrations on May 20 in Colombo, probably at the Galle Face Green, reports our staff correspondent Dilshan Dodangoda who is in the Vanni while attending the event a short while ago.

Mid May marks an important day in the history of Sri Lanka as it was during such a period in 2009 that the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), labeled as the world’s most ruthless terror organization was crushed by the Sri Lankan Armed Forces during their final push into the heart of the terror strongholds in the North.

Tiger leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was killed along with most top ranking members of the organization during the final battles which ended on the shores of the Nanthikadal lagoon on May 19, 2009."

but i hope it will not be standing our war heroes in the scorching sun and getting them salute politicians!!!

that is bullshit. instead we should do religious observences to invoke blessings on war heroes who left us, are disabled and suffered.

it should also highlight the need to FINANCIALLY SECURE their families' future.

war heroes need more education opportunities for their family members, more economic clout and more land. some war heroes' families are illegally occupying govt land. some don't have homes. this is fcuking disgrace.

in pakistan if a soldier wins a battle he is allotted land from the area he won the battle. we should at least give sufficient land for them.

after all they added 15,000 square kilometres to SL PREVIOUSLY THOUGHT TO BE PART OF A DE FACTO THAMIZ EZYHAM LAND!!!

negotiating with those MOTHERFCUKERS who cannot stand our celebrations is the biggest insult to our war heroes.

constitutional provisions should be made to make it mandatory and obligatory for all governments to celebrate SL war heroes of may 2009.

at least b4 the war heroes week starts we have to bulldoze ALL terrorist remains. after one year of annihilating terrorists, still there are some stinky toilet crap traces.

What is this nonsense about an upper house? Does anyone have any details what this upper house is going to look like and how it will stop eelam in the long run?
So will have an uppoer house, lower house, provincial councils and local governments to run 65000 square kilometres with 20 million people!?!?!?
We should have a referendum asking each province if they want to continue the provincial council or dissolve it and be controlled by the parliament. That will reduce the running costs of at least 7 provinces and ministers and elections. Also include in the consitution a cap on the number of ministries in parliament, say 30. It was a brilliant move to limit the number of ministers to 4 or 5 in the provincial councils

Diyasena said...

TTBO,

Rejection of PCs by 7 provinces apart from N & E will be a disaster..It will lead to asymettrical devolution, which the kazuthai will call a recognition of their homelands..

What we need is to reorganise the regions..9 provinces is far too much..5 provinces are enough..

West-Colombo, Gampaha, Kaluthara, Putthalam, Parts of Kurunegala

South- Galle, Mathara, Hambanthota, Rathnapura and parts of Moneragala

Central- Kandy, Mathale, Nuwaraeliya, Kegalle, Badulla, Parts of Kurunegala and parts of Moneragala

East- Trinco, Batti, Ampara and Polonnaruwa

North- Jaffna, Wanni and Anuradhapura*

* IF the government is reluctant to do Ethnic harmonisation via settlement this is the next best option..Overnight we have a multi ethnic Northern province and by adding Polonnaruwa to the east we can effectively separate North and East.....The district (through GAs) will be the administrative units whilst the province will be the politcal unit..Eezham donkeys will scream, but we can say, hey we are not colonising we are fostering ethnic integration (and you are racist to oppose it)..People in both Anuradhapura and Wanni are farmers so there will be ethnic integration gradually.

Diyasena said...

Totally agree with a cap on ministries..Previously in this thread I showed that realistically we need only 21 ministers..I think we can restrict the number to 25 and have the constitution clearly spell out what those 25 are..

A provincial based upperhouse based on the present 9 provinces will be just as ineffective as the Provincial councils..

However with 5 multi-ethnic provinces it will work like a charm..

A 35 seat senate based on proportional represntation (6 seats to each provice+ bonus seat to winner)..I would also keep the Manapa system for the senate vote (with only 7 candidates allowed from each party wouldnt be too bad)..Based on the 2010 GE results.

North- UPFA 4 TNA 2 UNP/SLMC 1
East- UPFA 4 UNP/SLMC 2 TNA 1
West- UPFA 5 UNP 2
South- UPFA 5 UNP 2
Central- UPFA 5 UNP 2

Overall- UPFA 23 UNP/SLMC 9 TNA 3

All Bills would require a simple majority whilst any constituional amendments will require 24 votes

Diyasena said...

IF the Eezham kazuthai oppose the amalgamation of Anuradhapura to North and Polonnaruwa to East we say even the British had it that way till 1888..Unlike repeating the same mistake of the British we have the Northern capital in the Wanni instead of Jaffna (this will force the Wee Jaffna tamizh to interact not only with the pesky singaloids from Anuradhapura but also the lower class tamizh and muslims in the Wanni)

Moreover it will give the people in the provinces a chance to build their own provincial identities instead of petty ethnic ones..

OneNation (formerly TTBO) said...

Diyasena,

I like the concept of 5 provinces, rather than the 9. I missed on the asymtrical devolution factor. Also adding A'pura to the north will be a good move, makes sense. It is all one wanniya!

I saw your post on 21 ministers. I fully agree with that list. I was myself writing up a list of 25 when you posted that. Can appoint 21, and if necessary reward the hard working deputy ministers with minsitries. Run the cabinet like a company, where you review their performances every 2 years. Also bring in on the national list some non-political professionals with a vision to run some selected ministries for a set time. At the end of it, they can resign and be rewarded for their work, and could back to their companies or organisation.

That would be the day!

Your idea is brilliant.

We can then dissolve the PC nonsense as OneNation(TTBO) says at a later date lol.

One step at a time guys one step at a time.

Only risk is that Tamilia might "remake" their homoland map (back in the 80s it had central province as well) and try and take greater territory + claim Polonnaruwa Anuradhapura as theirs. They already do this but if we remake the map they will "interpret" it as "official" sanctioning. (This is also why I am against putting historical signs, in places like museums –such as the one funded by the Nips in Sigiyra- in “all 3 languages”. Absolutely stupid idea. Already many clowns, our own learned historian try this multi lingual “sri lankan history” crap which tries to involve Tamils into our history when they have zero. We are accrediting their homoland crap ourselves in the names of “race harmony” and bs like that. This HAS GOT TO STOP. Will they appreciate it? NO. They are an ungrateful lot).

All in all regardless of what is done on superficial levels, recolonisation is the best and only answer to every thing and the only guarantee of an ACTUAL permanent solution.

Diyasena said...

Pol,

Let them claim A'pura and P'naruwa...After all they claim Putthalama and parts of Hambanthota too..However with over 1.2 mill Sinhalese living in the two districts their claims will remain only as claims

I for one am for saying ancient Lanka was multicultural (which it was after Walagamba)..We can say Jaffna was under the Anuradhapura kingdom where tamil descendants of chola invaders lived side by side with Sinhalese..Plus most of the artefacts in A'pura P'naruwa are widely accepted as Sinhalese by British archaeologists..So it will make the kazuthai look stupid if they try to encompass it in their homoland..

In principle I agree with you on the one nation one language policy..But it is too late now..We had an opportunity after independence..But Banda ruined it by introducing Sinhala only without colonization of the North..

[[But the same report says to MR, land/police powers and NE remerger are non-negotiabl..So this essentially means 13- not 13+]]

We do not blame MR. We fear for a crazy act.

However, ANYTHING negotiated with TNA will lead us to a mess, as at the first place they will never agree genuinely. They will agree for the time being, pull the line a little further towards them, and walkaway from it. It has been the pattern of LTTe, and now TNA. So have no hopes.

Secondly, if that negotiation is made in order to get the required few seats for the 2/3 well, that makes it more dangerous. Firstly the TNA impact will effect constitutional changes. And they can blackmail and threaten for the same. It will run the patriots in govt obsolete by either running out public faith on them or their faith on govt.

Nevertheless it has not happened. It is a fearful nightmare. Yet not real. Govt doe not HAVE to beg for TNA or Prabha Gonason. It can buy off few UNPers, even increase cabinet [for a good course] and get 2/3. It is far better to do that way than getting help from TNA.

Like I oppossed ANY peace talks with Pussycats, today I oppose ANY negotiation with TNA. It is yet another trap.

kevin said...

It would be extremely unwise for MR to seek 2/3 by getting in to agreements of any sort with the TNA buggers.I can't see the urgency in getting a 2/3 while the majority in the Parliament is sufficient. It's bad enough MR had compromised the integrity of the nation by allowing Karuna the freedom to contest or even giving him a ministry.Another compromise is too much. One didn't need Karuna to win the war and it is beggars belief that not all traitors and enemies are locked up.

Spot on. I didn't wanna go on saying but you made it clear.

Bottomline is the political undercurrents of SL are not what most of you imagine. The absolutely righteous and accurate decisions as you may propose are not made here. Many small pragmatic reasons control them.

All parties like PC as they can keep their bottom tire happy even after failing to make it to Parliament. It is a heck of an asset for all.

However, a nepotist ruler like MR may break PC because he can push all Rajapakses to teh main house, and he gives rat's care for others. If it ever happens it will be under him. But I have little hopes.

He had made submissions on behalf of several opposition MPs of the 6th Parliament including Ravi Karunanayake, Ranga Bandara, Mrs. Chandrani Bandara and even numerous MP’s of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA).

there is a high possibility of reverting back to the present PC system (or WORSE) bcos from day one, tamil elamists will be against it.

some have suggested 3 PCs. not along ruhunu, maya, pihiti but with a little modifications. that is also viable.

Moshe Dyan said...

such a PC system as diyasena proposes will also take care of the tamil madu extension plan.

with minimum effort!!

it will force politicians to work in multiethnic teams.

but the danger is if they refuse to work, more ppl are going to suffer.

in the past "T" racist parties refused to support development. this way they created frustration in tamil majority areas leading to resistence.

they will be able to cripple PC managed development work in anuradhapura and polonnaruwa as well in such a set-up. or bargain for a bigger share of funds within the PC for their areas.

Moshe,

I disagree.

The West’s arrests amount to nothing. They will go to trial and be released. Furthermore they have hardly done major crackdowns.

The political apparatus is still in existences (GTF in Europe and the US “Tamil public affairs committee” or whatever its called –modelled on AIPAC) and getting stronger.

We should be ready to attack.

No point sitting around and jumping into knee jerk responses. Thus “lull” period is the best time prepare for the next attack/defence. Like during ceasefires in the way.

Suddenly attacking now makes no sense. We must make till they make the first move, international “scrutiny” falls on SL again (who the hell are they to do that anyway?) THEN ATTACK.

Besides this “crack” down may not be a “tide turning” but as Ninja says a crude trick to show the West is “getting both sides” so next will be SL’s tern to “make arrests”(who will be obviously found “guilty” while Tamilia are released).

Anonymous said...

"in the past "T" racist parties refused to support development. this way they created frustration in tamil majority areas leading to resistence.

As you have said before they only want "development" for Tamilia and how to best advance Tamilia (paid for by us of course, paid for in more ways than one at that) and is bad for SL/Sinhalas.

Diyasena's idea is brilliant as a short term solution because it will sort of silence Tamilia a bit (if we did good propaganda we can make them look the unreasonable ones/those not moving forward/not genuine -which we all know is the case anyway). It also gives breathing space for recolonisation.

However Diyasena's will not be a long term permanent solution. Tamilia and their suddha/injun allies will find new ways to re-start.

That is why recolonisation must always be done.

RECOLONISATION is just the panacea for everything (not stupid pisstalks or 13 Amendment or Constitutional Council). IT IS RECOLONISATION.

SAY IT AGAIN:

RECOLONISATION.

None of this devolution crap matters if the whole country is multi-ethnic/no Tamilia enclaves.

Anyone watch the cricket?

Can't believe we lost to NZ.

We should have won.

It was so heartbreaking.

Dilshan failed badly. We lost because he wasted 3 overs in the power play which was the best time to score runs (as we saw what happens when the game progresses).

Dilshan needs to be dropped.

We could have reached 150 had it not been for those 18 wasted on him at a crucial point.

Sanath was awesome. He will shine if given the chance because he knows this is his last hurrah and i want it to be a good one.

West Indies:
West Indies 138/9 (20.0/20 ov)

West Indies won the toss and elected to bat.

Ireland:

Ireland 12/3 (2.3/20 ov)
Ireland require another 127 runs with 7 wickets and 17.3 overs remaining

There's the difference.
We didn't get the earlier breakthroughs.
But our batting failed because of Dilshan's poor form. 18 wasted balls within the power play. Otherwise we could have got 150.

Moshe,

If we add P'naruwa then the intentions would be obvious and more resistence..So we'd be on the defence more than offense..

A'pura has 620,000 registered voters
Jaffna reaslitically has about 400,000
Vanni realistically has about 250,000

Tamils will still be majority in Northern Province but only just (Tamil 45% Sinhala 40% Muslim 15%)..However with Polonnaruwa added Sinhalese become a 50%+ majority and we will have tough time defending it..The Sinhala voters of A'pura..will adapt quickly (like in Ampara and Trinco) and unite behind the most patiroitc party..Multiethnic UNP and UPFA will still win North not racist TNA..

Me thniks Polonnaruwa should go to the east..

1. It is next to Trinco and Batti, but separated from the Vanni..

2. Lot of ties between TCO Sinhales and Polonnaruwa Sinhalese through marraiges..

East has roughly 1 million votes of which 25% is Sinhalese (Tamil 35%, Muslim 40% I estimate)..Add 300,000 votes of which 95% is Sinhala (I am assuming rest is mainly Tamil) and the new ratios

The new rates will look like
Sinhala-40%
Muslim-30%+
Tamil-30%-

This will effectively put a stop to homoland noises from the east..

OF COURSE AS POL SAID THIS IS A SHORT-TERM SOLUTION..

1. However this will buy us time to do recolonisation

2. If resistance to recolonisation occurs we can say its nothing like that, just facilitation of Natural migration between Anuradhapura and Wanni (Also Trinco and Pollonaruwa)

IF planned and done carefully we can have Pol's MVT axis achieved in the end..

Diyasena,

When i was thinking of "think tank" it was essentially glorified blog posts, appearing on a formal website with daily/weekly articles (akin to the one Moshe has put here) giving advice, information, importance to such activities like recolonisation.

The McKenzie Institute of Canada is like a one man show and its articles/"analysis" (which is pro-SL) get quoted/copied + pasted in our own media and Government sites.

What i saw in terms of us being a "think tank" is our own reports being published, like the way ICG and other NGO monkeys issue "reports" with deep analysis etc etc (of course ICG and CPA types do this to attack SL).

Essentially we formalise our blog posts. If we can get them into the main domain of media like Island or Adaderana (the way the two link in articles) then we can spread the message within SL and bring our ideas to the attention of Government (as well as our enemies but they are probably already scouting sites like SLDF since DefenceNet formed).

IF the NPC, ethnic distribution is such, it's political distribution will be,

1. TNA will dominate it. we are back to square one.

2. UNP and UPFA will do EVERYTHING to win over the TNA!!!

suddas helped us in 2006-2009 by crippling LTTE's US$300 million dollar terror network.

the BEAUTIFUL thing is they also support COLONIZATION!!! backed by development.

this is why the tamil die-arse-pora NEVER raise the issue of "colonization" to IC audience.

the IC even supported our mahaweli scheme and recent trinco, batti, ampara settlements.

3 of our batsmen wasted 36 balls = 6 overs to score just 10 fcuking runs.

Diyasena said...

Moshe,

That political breakdown is a bit far fetched..

1. It assumes 90% support for TNA amongst tamils, which is more likely to be about 65%, with the other 35% split (15% UPFA, 15% UNP and 5% other parrties)

2. The muslim vote will likely split 60-40 in favour of UNP/SLMC..

3. The Sinhala vote will go 60-35-5 to UPFA, UNP, DNA (This is assuming UNP becomes patriotic again or I see 65-30-5)..

So overall in the northern PC..

UPFA- 37%
UNP/SLMC-30%
TNA-29%
JVP-2% Others- 2%

Yes, TNA can be a governing partner..But as UNP + UPFA could get two thirds, their bargaining power will be diminished..

There is no threat of Anuradhapura being governed by TNA..This is not a fully fledged federal solution we are talking here..And as I pointed out with my original idea, administration will still take place via government agents at district level (appointed by the centre)..

Diyasena said...

Similarly in the East with Polonnaruwa,

Sinhala votes 40%(UPFA, 65 UNP 30 JVP 5 )

Tamil Votes 30% (TNA 65%, UPFA 20, UNP 15)

Muslim votes 30%(SLMC/UNP 60, UPFA 40)

So overall,
UPFA- 44%
UNP-34%
TNA-20%
JVP-2%

Guys,

I disagree with the proposed extensions of N/E.

Problems:

1. It brings ethnic balance marginally equal. But tmail votes never get divided.

2. It depends on what Muslim parties think. If SLMC and TNA comes to an agreement they have nearly 2/3

3. It makes the development crippled. Since the political body is not stable [no clear backing for any plan]

4. If you calculate population growth in suggested regions, it shows that sinhala is in decline. Muslim is growing and with peace prevailing tamil is also expected to grow.

5. If given hundred chances we will waste 99, but give their one and they'll hit bull's eye. So the 100 advantages to one SL will be wasted in dire battle of UPFA vs UNP. But project eelam will not do same when they have some opportunity within the big bodies.

6. Rural development will be forever forgotten.

7. In SL there is [seemingly] no political figure who has even realized the worth of Recolonization. But the above suggestion needs an essential plan to recolonize the region to span at minimum for 30 yrs. No 30 yr plan will go ahead here unhindered either. So it will be simply crippled somewhere. But systematic tamilization and kallathoni influx will simply continue. So will be Muslim population expansion.

8. With semi-autonomous powers the colombo tamils may migrate there. What if we get 1mill of those in. How is ethnic balance?

Noooooooooooo Noooooooooo Noooooooooooo. Big body based, highly powered provinces can NEVER work for SL. What we need is an admin power devolution to as small units as possible. Districts or even small. The powers granted shud be those matter in developing the regions, resolving their immediate problems and supporting the ppl. The bodies shud look more like welfare units. Powers like Education, Healthcare [partially] Judiciary, Military/Police, Lands, Policy, Foreign Relations, etc shud NEVER be taken from the center

Politicians will like this. If we convert PC to District Sabha, more of their children can contest. :)

But NO big bodies and big power devolution.

Recolonization shud continue anyway, and as I proved now it will never be enhanced with big body based devolution.

diyasena,

"UPFA- 37%

if this is the case, UNP and join with TNA as easily as UPFA would join UNP.

that will be disastrous.

also there is another thing that happens in such a hotly racial atmosphere.

remember 1988 NE elections???

EPRLF and SLMC won all the seats except one that went to UNP.

this will happen. all tamil and muslim votes will get concentrated for MAXIMUM clout. it will land us in deeper trouble than now.

this gave rise to the SLMC. thereafter SLMC became a powerful political party until 2010. we don't want to go back to that again.

Moshe Dyan said...

SK,

"Big body based, highly powered provinces can NEVER work for SL. What we need is an admin power devolution to as small units as possible."

you are looking from the POV of devolution.

i agree.

actually we are trying to make EVEN bigger units of devolution!!

the lowest political unit is the electorate. there is actually no sense in having bigger units of devolution than the lowest political unit.

another danger is the likelihood of emerging new racist parties like sinhala congress, sinhala liberation front, sinhala national alliance. IF UPFA or UNP joins TNA, this will certainly happen.

eventually there will be a 3 way power battle between tamils, muslims and sinhalas just to survive POLITICALLY.

I disagree with your claim that "things are changing" as in Suddha coming to our side.
Which is not the case.
So we should be ready to attack, ratherthan also being fooled into this notion and being caught off guard (as usual)

And Moshe stop this nonsense that "it is not suddha but Tamilia".

That is ridiculous. Do not tell me the virgin suddha is being manipulated by the Tamil. That is just absolute crap. Why do people always make excuses for others (not long ago people used to make excuses for suicide bomb blasts saying “poor tamils being tricked and conned”)

They (West) know damn well what is happening in Sri Lanka, the history and all (it is what their universities and think tanks, Foreign Offices do for literally every country) and see a opportunity to interfere and keep the country divided and backward by using Tamil racism to their advantage. This is why they have gone out of their way keep it alive (e.g. GTF).

Muslims have more power in the West have more numbers, votes, power and money compared to Tamilia yet the West launched its war against Islam.

We only need to see the way they treated Ranil during 2002 and what they did then. Complete lackey did whatever suddha wanted yet they refused to curtail the LTTEs activities (not so difficult for them to do) for him. Instead they encouraged and strengthened the LTTE. Ranil became so unpopular because he did nothing to stop the LTTE breaking the ceasefire, as that is what his masters told him to do despite everything else he did loyally they never reciprocated a favour or two for him. It was this “give free hands” approach of his masters to the LTTE that killed his election chances.

If you read the Kerry Report it mentions the fact the LTTE & Tamilia in SL can cause problems in Tamil Madu. The obvious fact was to use Tamilia as a weapon against India later (if India gets economically independent and starts acting like China, i.e. the West has no control or leverage over them).

Furthermore suddhas backs Tamilia because Tamilia have been their historic willing coolies compared to Sinhalese who do not generally give in or surrender themselves.

The idea that the worlds most powerful countries are “afraid” or are being “conned” by Tamils is the biggest joke imaginable.

Moshe Dyan said...

pol,

agree with few facts. but the conclusions you draw from them are not agreeable.

1. tamils have been BIG TIME arselickers of suddas than sinhalas AND NORTH INDIANS.

2. with MILLIONS of muslims in the west they went to war with muslims. so the few hundred thousand tamils are just NOTHING.

3. west can destabilise india with the help of tamils.

4. west knows PERFECTLY well tamil elamists are terrorists. that's why they banned them EVEN WHEN SL DIDN'T BAN THEM!!

but, west has no special need to destabilise india NOW. during cold war, yes but not now. now india is needed by the west to meet the china challenge.

west loves the island of SL have 2 nations.

but pursuing war crimes BS does not lead them there.

also their REAL war crimes will get exposed if they harp too much on SL alleged war crimes.

west helped SL by disrupting LTTE finance and arms purchasing network.

1. MOST LTTE fronts were banned.
2. US gave SL all info about 3 key LTTE floating weapons warehouses.
3. arrested 15 canadian pieces of shitt who would have developed SA-18 procuring capabilities.
4. sold us firefinder arti that we used to shell LTTE hospitals (where they hid 130mm artillery and fired at us).
5. could have made our life needlessly difficult by using satelites, spy planes, etc. but they didn't.
6. continues military drills.

i'm arguing on the WAR CRIMES crap. not on having another nation in SL.

we should get wahtever help we can get. that makes it easier to fight them when they want to divide SL. but we should be ready to take them on if they follow more war crimes BS.

ensuring SL's integrity is with US, not them.

----------
"but we should be ready to take them on if they follow more war crimes BS."

Agree.

One thing the Government must do is hunt down JDS and the original tape of the Channel 4 video.

I swear to all the gods that there is more to that video and it was made as Tamilia propaganda to be shown as a "war movie". They would make such "war movies" (involving brutal murders of our captured soldiers like at Mulativa in 96) that sold like pan cakes for the bloody thirsty Tamilia die-ass-pora. Obviously they modified it when Praba took a swim forgetting to wear a plug on his head.

The fact the UN and other tards (included the US) are not interested in getting from JDS the original video (or asking them how they got it assuming they do not know -which i doubt) is all the proof there is no genuine interest other than having something to attack Sri Lanka with (the manner the video is filmed is just meant for that, to attack, not hunt for justice).

This is something we should do regardless of how relations between SL and the West go. We can "broadcast" it any time. Preferably hold onto such "evidence" till the next time some monkey brings up the Channel 4video.
This is a MUST.

Not only can we screw the war crimes bs but can also screw up Channel 4 the LTTE mouth piece and the free media donkeys in SL and out. So many people can be screwed over.

Re: Sudda

In brief, the foraign policies are never based on love oir hatred. They are more strategic and tactical. Same shud be our approach.

Sudda helped us in many ways, yet pulled our leg in many other ways. We shud know how to tackle the pulling of leg while getting the most help we can [w/o going submissive].

One reason why US bandwagon on War Crimes reduced was the leaked civilian killing Videos by US troops in Iraq, and perhaps SL's acknowledgment about the video. We shud use blackmail as a weapon against them, and gather info about their war crimes just in the same way they do against us.

SL's foreign policy shud be decided in private discussions between diplomats and govt where we tell them that "if you do this, we have to do that". It needs not to be written on paper.

And it shud not have any political ideologies, factions of sides. We shud not consider any nation as an enemy. If Blake is messing around we shud treat the matter as if US is still a friend but blake has something against us. We need to keep up with all the camps. This is how MR cud import Israeli weapons while Palasthene named a road by his name.

Re War crimes, west is silent but not given up. They are waiting for it to reach a work-worthy level. They are looking at diaspora and even UN. If they find a feasible position to bring SL on knees they will suddenly jump, all of them. Until then they are watchful.

SL shud have facts to tell them in behind the curtain meetings if taht day comes.

Re: Sudda,

In general we should develop a rational protocol to deal with USA with the following points in mind.

(1) Suddhas don't love us.
(2) They want to extend our economic dependence as long as possible so that they can flourish.
(3) They want to come down and preach with typical suddha burden mentality.
(4) We want to do good business with them.
(5) We want them to stay away from our internal affairs.

In summary smile when it comes to what we want, give the middle when they come to meddle with our internal matters, smile again when it comes to what we want. End of the day, it is going to be a grand diplomatic act.

"President Rajapaksa calls for ‘Parliamentary Conclave’
‘President Rajapaksa contributed a very innovative concept to the summit. He told the summit in his address that while there is disparity in the region there is also a high degree of commonality. He emphasised very strongly on the importance of a common South Asian identity. He said that when we raise our voice in the world forum we should speak with one voice, it is then that we will be heard and respected. That is not difficult because the underpinnings of the culture of our countries have a great deal in common. He suggested that it would be useful for the parliamentarians of the countries to have an opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences. He stressed that this would be particularly useful with regard to the younger parliamentarians. In almost all the SAARC legislatures there are more and more young representatives. So, that opportunity of exposure would be of particular value to younger parliamentarians. With that objective in mind he proposed the creation of a parliamentary conclave for younger South Asian parliamentarians. That was very warmly received, and the SAARC leaders agreed to implement a working group in order to flush out that proposal and to work rapidly towards its implementation”.

This would not be such a bad idea, akin to the European Parliament.

But should do it in such a fashion that retard politics like that in SL does not get transferred onto a regional/global scale.

Sure something can be worked out.

Each country can send a certain number of members so it is fair. Only problem to any successful functioning of SAARC (like ASEAN) is India which wants to punch everyone.

Ban Ki-moon puts on hold special panel to probe Sri Lanka

Mendaka Abeysekera in New York

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is putting on hold the decision to appoint a special panel on Sri Lanka, until Under Secretary General for Political Affairs Lynn Pascoe completes his scheduled visit to Sri Lanka in the second week of May.

According to UN sources Lynn Pascoe will discuss political developments in Sri Lanka with state authorities.

Earlier UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in telephone discussions with President Mahinda Rajapaksa assured him that he would send his Under Secretary General for Political Affairs Lynn Pascoe to discuss developments. But the scheduled visit was delayed for more than two months due to various outstanding issues.
After UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's decision to appoint a special panel on Sri Lanka, UN - Sri Lanka relations went down to the lowest level in recent history.
Meanwhile, Ban Ki-moon had lengthy discussions with the Sri Lankan Attorney General Mohan Peiris, recently in New York.

According to sources in UN, Mohan Peiris explained the government's position regarding the Secretary-General's decision to appoint a special panel on Sri Lanka and the UN's war crime probe.

We also learned that Mohan Peiris detailed Sri Lankan government's recent actions to protect human rights in the country. He also explained legal action against the LTTE and the rehabilitation program that has been undertaken.
According to sources, Ban Ki-moon never mentioned at any point of time that he had changed his decision to appoint a special panel on Sri Lanka, during his meeting with Mohan Peiris.
Meanwhile, Ban Ki-moon was mum over the recent meeting with Sri Lankan Attorney General and his spokesman Martin Nesirky also declined to give any details about the meeting.

Sri Lankan government has planned a large Buddhist vihara at the entrance of Mullaiththeevu town at Karaichchikkudiyiruppu, 150 meters near the Kachcheari building, said former Jaffna MP Selvaraja Kajendren Saturday. The government is spending millions in construction of the Buddhist temple and in constructing at least two memorial sites for Sri Lanka Army commanders killed in action, while the Tamil civilians are not provided with meaningful aid for resettlement, Mr. Kajendren told media.

The Buddhist vihara is planned to be raised in state-owned land, informed sources further said adding that papers have been submitted to the District Secretariat of Mullaiththeevu seeking permission to construct the Vihara.

Meanwhile, reliable sources in Vanni said Sinhalese settlers were being brought to coastal strip of Mullaiththeevu in recent times for settlement by the government."

@ SAARC

SAARC is a scam (like many such organizations.) The only interesting and meaningful organization I see is EU. Its even better that UN. In EU there are many powerful nations and many powerless nations so such combination is good for all. Even though Pakistan pose some military threat to India Pakistan has no way to challenge India. So simply SAARC = India. All lilliputs visit galiwar's tea party thats all. But I like sports stuff etc.

Probably this is untrue and tamilnut is being pro-active. Even before GSL initiate any thing now IC thugs/ India / INGOs / TN clowns can shout not to destroy pure holy tamil homeland and GSL may say we have no such plans. Nice thing may be GSL doing so after saying no but probably that wont happen.

BTW, if true there is good reason for selecting mulathiv for temple. Hemamala and Prince dantha broyght sacred tooth relic via mulathiv. We better locate path the followed from Mulathiv and build buddist temples in all junctions.

/Sri Lanka Coast Guard Department has decided to set up coast guard units in each fisheries harbor of the island, said the Director of Department Rear Admiral Daya Dharmapriya.

Sri Lanka is an island that has a large sea area in its control. The country's sea is now seven times bigger than the land area and after 2027 Sri Lanka will own a sea area of 25 times of the landmass. The island has made requests to the UN authorities to claim for the sea above the continental shelf of the island and the request will be considered after 2027.

The island communities were seafarers since ancient times. However, the sea around the island was a dangerous place in past three decades since the activities of the Sea Tigers of Tamil rebel Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam and the counter-terrorism measures of Sri Lanka Navy. Fishing was also thoroughly restricted for many years before the end of war.

But, in the post-war era Sri Lanka government seems understood the potentials of the island nation to fish prosperity from the sea around the island.

Therefore, the decision to set up a 'Sea Police' can be considered a far-sighted initiative.

The Coast Guard Department will establish main coordinating centers in Colombo, Mirissa in South, Oluwil in Ampara district, Kalpitiya and Mannar in northwestern coast, Trincomalee in the Eastern Province, Point Pedro and Punarin in Jaffna peninsula.

The Coast Guard Department is now equipped with 250 personnel and four crafts. The Director of the Department said that the proposals have been mooted to recruit 2000 more personnel to the coast guard and fast moving crafts also will be acquired.

Recently established Sri Lanka Coast Guard is not an armed force. It is considered as a ‘Sea Police’ that is empowered in prevention of smuggling, piracy, sea pollution and it is also expected to act in lifesaving, protection of property and sea species conservation in the 485000 square kilometer sea area belonged to Sri Lanka./

"The Coast Guard Department is now equipped with 250 personnel and four crafts."

How many they need? Not 250 guys for sure.. Hope this will grow better... They should have clear goals such as to have total personals xxxxx by the time xxxx.

We should really bitch slap this tard and useless nations.

There will be no consequences in giving the finger and talking tough to them. Seriously should go all out against them. That will scare them into submission.

Should organise protests every time anyone of these monkeys comes to the country. Moshe will like because Israel does it (when Louise Arbour came to visit). Should do it when ever any suddha comes to visits to lecture us. It will send a clear message. Dumbos like JVP were good for doing such.

What i find fascinating with regards to all this war crimes and human rights bs is retards in the opposition and media also enjoy seeing Sri Lanka "being punished". They do not realise or care about the significance or consequences of their actions.

There is always a sense of distance or pleasure that Sri Lanka will be "punished" by suddha.

Anywhere else in the world and all media and political groups would be screaming in unison against such interference and doing their own investigations to dig up dirt to attack, especially the likes of UN when their country is hounding like this. In fact most other countries the Opposition would try to out do the Government in power in showing its loyalty the nation especially over foreign interference in their country.

Its pathetic the way the opposition & media in SL operates. This “anything goes” mentality has got to change.

No doubts it is because of India it fails.

However I like the idea of a proper forum/parliament thing.

Also the option of trying to create a new forum involving the worlds Eastern block.

That way China will have power, India on the sidelines (or forced to play ball).
If done well can be our own counter to the UN.

Pakistan to learn military tactics from Sri Lanka

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 01, Colombo: A delegation of senior military officers of Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force from National Defence University (NDU) of Pakistan visited Sri Lanka on a study tour from April through May 01.

The Pakistani military team headed by Air Commodore Nadeem Anjum of Pakistan Air Force was here to learn about the anti-insurgency operations conducted by the Sri Lankan Army against the LTTE.

The visiting delegation met the Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya Tuesday (27) morning at Army Headquarters and had discussions on bilateral interests and explored possibilities of further promoting healthy relations between Sri Lanka Army and Pakistan Defence Services.

The delegates were keen to learn more about recently concluded Wanni Humanitarian Operations and how it was brought to a successful completion, the Army said.

The Pakistani delegation held talks with Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa yesterday and discussed the security challenges in both countries.

Pakistan, a strong ally of the United States is waging war-on-terror against the anti-Western forces fueled by the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Suicide attacks by Islamic extremists are in the forefront as 1,018 people have been killed in 2009 in about 80 suicide attacks.

Sri Lankan forces last May successfully ended the 30-year long Tamil Tiger terrorism in the island vanquishing all the senior terrorist leaders in a major offensive that lasted over two years.

The Pakistani military delegation's six-day visit to Sri Lanka concluded today.

Ceylon Steel Corp invests $ 18m on rolling mill

SundayObserver.lk
May 02, 2010

Ceylon Steel Corporation Ltd (formally known as CHICO) will modernize the plant operations investing $ 18 million with a state-of-the-art rolling mill, the first of its kind in South Asia.

The plant will be operational by the third quarter of 2011 producing high quality QTB rebar used in the construction industry.

Executive Director of Ceylon Steel Corporation Ltd., Dammika Lokuwithana said that they do not have any plans for exporting raw materials as the cost is high but we want to give the highest quality product to the domestic consumers.

When asked whether the Onyx Group has any plans to venture into other areas of business he said not in the immediate future.

Ceylon Steel Corporation Ltd., the largest producer of steel under the brand name LANWA was acquired by UAE based Onyx Group during the latter part of 2009 and since then it has been managed under the chairmanship of Nandana Jayadewa Lokuwithana who is a Sri Lankan.

Business Development Manager Onyx Group Thomas Zachariah said that Ceylon Steel Corporation Ltd have joined hands with the world leader in steel plant technology Danieli MORGARDSHAMMAR of Italy to instal the state-of-the-art rolling mill.

This will help the company produce 250,000 tons of steel products per annum and the enhanced capacity will cater to the increasing demand in the infrastructure and housing construction sectors.

He said, that the machinery and technology used by CHICO was old. Therefore, they were producing a limited number of products which were of quality and complying to environmental standards.

‘The plan of our company is to upgrade the quality and quantity while maintaining all environmental standards. Once the modern mill is operational we will be able to save energy which will amount to about 10-15% of the power cost.

Once the new plant is operational we will be able to give the consumer a large range of products at an economical price.

Zachariah said that they invested $ 38 million in the first phase which included operational expenses as well. He said that the Ceylon Steel Corporation Ltd is still running at a loss and it will take another 2-3 years to turn it to a profitable venture.

He said that from last week the name Ceylon Steel Corporation Ltd is back as a Sri Lankan company managed by Sri Lankans for Sri Lankans.

He said that though Onyx Group was looking for an opportunity to invest in Sri Lanka for the last four years it was made possible due to Mahinda Chintana initiated by President Mahinda Rajapaksa whose vision is to make Sri Lanka self sufficient. (SG)

Transexual Government of Tamil Eelam goes "Democratic"!

................
A foul flavored farce: LTTE turns pseudo-democratic in order to dupe Tamils of Sri Lanka again

By Henri-Marie Stendhal
SriLankaWatch.com
May 01, 2010

Within the next days, Tamils all over the world will be casting votes for a Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam. It's called "transnational" because there is no Tamil Nation - maybe with the exception of the Indian Province of Tamil Nadu.

Yet this transnational Government does not want to split this province away from India. But rather from tiny Sri Lanka. Looking at their logos, one sees the greater part of the northern and eastern coastline being claimed as the utopian Tamil Eelam - along the demarcation lines of roughly 2006, when the LTTE was briefly in charge of that area.

These are the names behind this farce to take place in most European countries: Francis Boyle (USA) Joseph Chandrakanthan (Canada) Nagalingam Jeyalingam (USA) Jeyaprakash Jeyalingam (USA) Karen Parker (USA) Palaniappan Ramasamy (Malaysia) Visuvanathan Rudrakumaran (USA) Peter Schalk (Sweden) Sivanendran Seevanayagam (Australia) Nadarajah Sriskandarajah (Sweden) Muttucumaraswamy Sornarajah (UK) Amuthu Louis Vasanthakumar (UK). Most of these people are all too well known for their pro-LTTE stance and their position on the LTTE-payroll. Only now they seem to follow a proverb associated with Mao Tse-Tung: The Guerilla muss move amongst the people as fish swims the sea.

This advisory Committee along with countless aides and secretaries and body guards held four meetings in all, the first in Zürich on 2nd to 4th August 2009, the second in Oslo on 2nd to 4th October 2009, the third in London on 3rd to 6th December 2009 and the fourth in New York on 19th to 20th February 2010. These meetings were connected with meetings of the respective local Tamil communities and with their organizations. A huge apparatus has been set up - websites, posters, flyers. Local politicians are being coerced into playing "monitors" and "sponsors" for this election-event - too bad, the Tamil version of the leaflets say something completely different that the localized translations… This happened to Swiss councilor Urs Egger of Zürich - who now ducks his head in embarrassment; others are sure to follow.

Big questions arise: Who is paying for all these costly activities, the 5-star-hotels, the first class flights, the posh restaurants the politicians are take to? Is this all payed for from money that was taken by the hoodlums of the LTTE from the Tamil people in the Diaspora while the fighting was still on? Would it not be better to give this money directly to those - once again - they claim they are fighting for? And who gave this committee it's power? Democracy - wasn't that by the people for the people? And why did these people not encourage their own to participate in the elections held in Sri Lanka, where voter turnout was extremely low in the North?

A foul flavored farce: LTTE turns pseudo-democratic in order to dupe Tamils of Sri Lanka again

........continued 1.....
This vote is supposed to be a strong political sign - and this is why the pressure on people in the Diaspora rises. Do attend, it reads all over, be patriotic! Wheel your granny in! Bring the kids! One year after the military defeat of the terrorist LTTE, the all shiny new LTTE emerges under new guise and in form of a "transnational Government". Yet, if one carefully leafs through the tons of well produced and costly PR-Material, it becomes quite obvious that there is a lot this ominous government with no soil of its own declares, that one has read before - under the logo of the Tamil Tigers.

Don't get me wrong. While it is very fine, that these diehard LTTEists now choose democratic means of expressing their views, while these people now claim to have left the road of terrorism and violence, they are still the same people who vigorously supported the LTTE and their killing machine, who bloodied their very hands. There are no excuses to the Tamils back home in Sri Lanka for taking thousands of them as hostage in the last days of the war. For sending their kids to certain death with a bomb attached to their belly. For depriving them of proper education and the food the Srilankan government handed out all these years. Yes, for even taking special power snack bars distributed by the UN for undernourished babies robbed away for their brainwashed cadres. No excuse for setting up and supporting a totalitarian and ruthless antidemocratic regime under a megalomaniac supremo. These are the same people who still use the funds which were collected from members of the Diaspora - whether they liked that or not. Only now do these crooks get what they deserve, because people only now feel free to talk about this to local police and security forces. Recent arrests of LTTE-members in German, France and the Netherlands speak for themselves. So what kind of freedom will the transnational Government of Tamil Eelam have to offer?

The remnants of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam (LTTE) and their supporters that are well-secured in the economic and social fortitudes in the green pastures of Western Europe, the USA and Canada and Australia have betrayed the Tamil people of Sri Lanka. They were left alone to deal with the Sinhala dominated Colombo government on their own.

Ananda-USA said...

A foul flavored farce: LTTE turns pseudo-democratic in order to dupe Tamils of Sri Lanka again

.......continued 2...
The expatriate patriots are still fighting a war, that is not wanted by the Tamils of Sri Lanka. Just go talk to them! And just for the record: as it is quite mingled out, who will send how many "elected Representatives" (Canada 25, UK 20 and so on) there is not a single candidate directly from Sri Lanka. Some of the candidates have never even seen their "homeland", some hardly muster Tamil properly, because they have been living somewhere in the world in third generation. Face it: Although they want to represent Tamils in Sri Lanka, many of them have made big investments and well settled with house & property in the western world. And some cannot speak, write or understand Tamil language as the Tamils in Sri Lanka.I think this speaks for itself. Also, it is hardly imaginable that many of those candidates would leave their green pastures western homes to move into a Tamil Eelam, were it ever to be established.

So, quite obviously, these guys are setting up a transnational Government to do something else. Only the future will tell, what this agenda really is about. Only this can be said by now: it's nothing Sri Lanka as an independent state nor Sri Lankans could want.

In the meantime, president Mahinda Rajapaksa can do two things. He can fail drastically, if he and his government go on like they do. This will give any "transnational" or national pressure or party group a chance to build up power and influence (again). Or Rajapakse for once does the right thing, giving Tamils the same chances and possibilities as everyone else on the island - what he claims he will do. Then the transnational Government of Tamil Eelam will fail, it will stay as meaningless as it is, because Tamils in Sri Lanka will not want to have anything to do with - even their own - people, who betrayed them again and again. Rajapaksa has shown things that hint he is one the right track - for example he is the first Head of State to address Tamil audiences in Tamil. And they do listen. Let’s just see, what happens. Again: Rajapaksa now has the power plus he has a huge following and trust by the people who voted for him in a democratic election.

Ananda-USA said...

A foul flavored farce: LTTE turns pseudo-democratic in order to dupe Tamils of Sri Lanka again

.....continued 3....
The structures of the all too well know LTTE-Front Organizations like Tamil Coordination Committee (TCC), the notorious Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO), Tamil Youth Organization (TYO), Tamil Women Organization (TVO) or even Tamil Arts and Cultural Organization (TKCO) are still the same - headed by the same guys, who supported terrorism and utter violence for almost three decades. Do the organizers of this election want us to believe, these people have all changed over night? At least security forces in Europe do not think so - as an example you might consider the recent arrest of seven heads of these above mentioned organizations in the Netherlands. The charges: running and funding a criminal and terrorist and/or criminal organization, exploiting money from members of the Tamil Diaspora. The all too well known story - still.

Until this transnational Government cuts all its strings to the terrorist LTTE, until all their assets are laid open, until there is a really new set of believable figures standing in for the rights of Tamils in Sri Lanka, this vote and this utopian government in the eyes of the world will be known as the foul flavored farce it is. Rudrakumaran with his new utopia of a "transnational Government" is about proving that he and his kin are very far away from the reality of the Tamils living a life without war in Sri Lanka. What these people after 30 years of hardship most certainly do not need now is being duped again by their own people who lead a live in vast luxury far, far away.

Note from the Editors: We are publishing this feature - prose and verse - without touching it any way to give the dots and dashes and also the caps and uncaps since we want our readers to have the same feelings with which it was expressed, how we experienced it ourselves and we are sure our readers too are entitled to it. May be we should just make one small observation. There is a rising feeling among the Tamils that the moment we became focused on the Eelam idea - certainly not an ideal - we lost the richness of our Sri Lankaness. What happened in July 1983 was a most regrettable consequential outburst to the flow of streams that were polluted with racial and religious bigotry. This would have died but for the LTTE that made politics a killing game to sustain its determination to create a base for a global underworld. The Pro-LTTE Diaspora by taking that path, not only disowned its own people in Sri Lanka but also in denying the Sri Lankaness to them, nearly made them history in our dear homeland..

So, Im a Tamil.and proud of it.

Proud of my culture, proud of my language, proud of the achievements of many of my fellow tamilians all over the world. Born here, right here in sunny Sri lanka. And Ive finally decided to say something. I know Im going to ruffle a lot more than a few feathers here- possibly even have a few people get themselves off my facebook friends list , but then, I’ve gotten sick and tired of all the chitter-chatter around me these past two weeks, So I shall say what I have to.

Firstly, I know that Im just tired. Tired of the racism, tired of being generalized, labelled, looked down at, tired of the frikin war and everything that happened because of it. Im sure, as a tamil, you are too.
Second, I’m not too jubilant and dancing on the street now that the war is over. there was too much of a price to pay to get what is today labelled as peace. and I will not dance till it really happens. we all “know” too much about the politics. So I won’t need to say much.

But, here’s where the feathers get ruffled. Im happy too. Im happy that the war is “over”. Happy that He is dead ( oh yes, I said it). happy that maybe, just maybe, if the politicos and powers that be play thier cards right, this country- my country- can actually go somewhere. Develop. be a happy place. Maybe.
But just when I start looking at the positive side of things, I realised that suddenly the racism has actually increased. I realised that I had to keep voicing my usually quite thoughts just so that I wont be labelled anymore. and unfortunately, my dear fellow tamilians, its because of some of you.
I’ve been repeatedly accused of “not knowing the real story” whenever I voice my absolute disgust at the terrorist organisation that has plagued my race, and at the man some of you celebrate as a hero. and you know what? I don’t care what the “real story” is anymore. I am NOT and will NOT allow anyone to label me anymore.

To the dear people who are publicly becoming “fans” of Mr.Velupillai Prabaharan, to those of you who are “fighting” for eelam because you don’t want to leave your western comforts, to those of you who say its not over till all of us are killed ( Im sorry, please speak for yourself), to those of you who still beleive the LTTE fought for your rights and nothing else, to those of you who say it is only because of HIM that we can walk the streets today because he has given us a voice ( sorry- he has only made the others so scared to approach a tamil just in case he/she blew themselves up, so he has not given us a voice, he’s just made the world frightened of tamils), to all those who after all this are still making me feel GUILTY to be a tamil, this is a plea to you to please STOP.
STOP, and START trying to make a difference for a change.

Turn your patriotic songs of praise for the LTTE into some positive songs about rebuilding our fallen nation.
NO, Im not asking you to help the other terrorists, our dear government who are guilty of many many crimes, but Im asking you to help yourselves. If you live abroad, use your dollars and pounds to fund development for your people here, rather than contribute it towards arms to kill someone. If you live here, then try spreading some positivity rather than telling the whole world that the tamils can’t live in peace and still want a frikkin separate state.

THIS is our country. THIS is a country that many years ago was ahead of even singapore. WHEN will we get there? When we can do things together. please knock that into your deranged brainwashed heads. PLEASE, let this , OUR country get some real happiness. Its about time.

If you think that by saying all this I’m not a real tamil, please think again. I want our race to get somewhere, but not by trampling the others down. I know we don’t have the rights of our fellow sinhalese here, but we will never get them by killing them. ever. we have to work with them. hey, be selfish for a change and do something positive so that YOU can benefit from peace and prosperity. at least think of it that way.
Im doing my part by helping the IDP’s in whatever way I can, but I will not let myself be labelled anymore.
To all of you who were afraid of saying things to me, or when I was around because I am a tamil and you thought I shared the view of the “diaspora” supporters, now you know. I don’t blame you for generalising. its the fault of my people. but you know very well that its not thiers alone.
I can’t write kavithais , but when I listen to this song, it still gives me goosebumps, still gives me tears. justchaneg a few words here and there and we can look at it as an anthem for us to get up and do something positive, make a change. Please.

Sri Lanka military to withdraw forces from private land in the North, Defence Secretary says

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 01, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has informed the military leaders that the security forces would be gradually withdrawn from private properties occupied by them in the Jaffna peninsula.

Secretary Rajapaksa revealed this addressing media after unveiling the war hero memorial at Elephant Pass on Friday.

When the government forces took control of the Jaffna peninsula in 1995, some properties were taken over by the troops and some areas were designated as high security zones (HSZs) to the consternation of the residents.

The Defence Secretary meanwhile has disclosed that the government has taken special measures with the support of intelligence services and Foreign Ministry to combat any threat from the LTTE in international arena.

Rajapaksa had told the media in Jaffna that there were still a small number of LTTE sympathizers overseas despite the defeat of the LTTE in Sri Lanka.

The Defence Secretary had assured that the government is doing everything possible to fulfill the needs of the people in the North and East.

US ready to greencard bright students

ExpressBuzz.com
May 01, 2010

WASHINGTON: An advanced degree from US universities might just get you a Green Card or permanent residency if a proposal by top Democratic senators to attract the world's "best and the brightest" is accepted.

The proposal was made by Senate majority leader Harry Reid and senators Charles Schumer and Bob Menendez. They have also proposed tightening of rules for H-1B and L1 visas. H1B visas allow US employers to temporarily employ foreign workers in specialty occupations for six years.

L1B allows companies operating both in the US and abroad to transfer certain classes of employees from its foreign operations to the US operations for up to seven years.

The proposals "will reform America's high-skilled immigration system to permanently attract the world's best and brightest while preventing the loss of American jobs to temporary foreign labour contractors," the senators said.

"Foreign students will be permitted to enter the US with immigrant intent if they are bona fide students as long as they pursue a full course of study at an institution of higher education in a field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics," they proposed.

Under the current regulations, those seeking permanent status can apply for a green card after six years of stay on an H1B visa. It may take several years after that to get the coveted card.

The comical antics of Gonseka, Ranilam and the Opposition continue
Courtesy of Island Political Column:
http://www.island.lk/2010/05/02/politics1.html

1)Gonseka wants privileges and power? Thought he wanted to clean corruption?

"Ranil Wickremesinghe was in parliament on both days. Sarath Fonseka had a discussion with Wickremesinghe in parliament. What was discussed were the difficulties faced by Fonseka. Wickremesinghe suggested that a question of parliamentary privileges be raised. Wickremesinghe explained to Fonseka, the steps that should be taken to enable him to attend parliament while the proceedings of the court martial were in progress."

2)Still begging white masters, when will they learn that is what makes them unpopular and lose elections? Well they are Colombians so i guess never.

"Wickremesinghe also instructed Dr Jayalath Jayawardene to make a complaint to the Human Rights Council in Geneva about the harassment faced by Fonseka."

3)Ado no freedom, speaks the people who advocate silencing of political rivials, complete submission of the people and Military dictatorship. Also thought "nobody watches State media" and that regardless of Rajapakse's "tricks" Gonseka won no? Didn't he tell us that and make an idiot petition for it too? What happened to his "I am the President" talk?:

"Vijitha Herath speaking at this meeting said that the opposition had to run this race with their legs tied together. He stated that the abuse of state property at this election was unprecedented and that the opposition parties had to face a great deal of repression."

4)Gonseka cries not being able to campaign and speak at rallies. This is funny because during the PE his campaign team told him not to talk at all otherwise it will impact negatively. How right they were, whenever he opened his Gona mouth he lost hundreds of thousands of votes because of the filth and lies that came out:

"Agreeing with this view, Tiran Alles said that the leader of the alliance General Fonseka was not able to address a single meeting for this election and that even the few seats they had got was praiseworthy in such circumstances."

5)Only reason alliance was there was because Ranilam wanted a scapegoat to bypass the PE so he can contest himself later.
This looks like an admission that Gonseka and his party are deeply unpopular and politically irrelevant and thus during the PE were riding on UNP zoombie voters and wanted them again for the GE. Naturally Gonseka uses his gona talk to twist this around.

"Agreeing with this view, Tiran Alles said that the leader of the alliance General Fonseka was not able to address a single meeting for this election and that even the few seats they had got was praiseworthy in such circumstances."

6)Gonseka lies again, this time to his own party and foolish backers:

" Arjuna Ranatunga wanted to know whether there was any truth in the news reports that said that Ranil Wickremesinghe had advised Fonseka to raise a question of privileges in parliament. Fonseka said that these reports were wrong and that he had held no such discussion with Wickremesinghe. Anura Kumara Dissanayake said that they should function as an independent group within the opposition. Fonseka agreed with Dissanayake and said that even though their group was not large, still they could achieve big things."

7)Gonseka still plotting for power Hikz:

"He said that between 1970-77 J.R.Jayewardene had only seven MPs to work with. But this group of seven were able to come into power in 1977. "There’s a book written on how they did this. I bought a copy of that book," said Fonseka."

"Russia's Moskva missile cruiser will make a port call in the southwestern Indian city of Kochi on Friday, a spokesman for the Russian Navy said on Wednesday.
The Moskva, the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet, left the Ukrainian port of Sevastopol on April 9. It is currently conducting a series of exercises in the Indian Ocean with the Northern Fleet's Pyotr Veliky heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser.

"The ships are carrying out drills on joint sailing and maneuvers, and holding combat training through interacting with each other at sea," the spokesman said.

The two vessels are due to arrive in Russia's Far Eastern port of Vladivostok in June-July to take part in the Vostok-2010 exercise. The exact date of the drills has yet to be announced.

Russia announced in 2007 that it was building up its naval presence throughout the world, and foreign port calls by Russian warships have become more frequent."

"Till the 1980s the minorities had a problem," a leading Tamil businessman in the town told me. "The Sinhalese were colonising our areas, changing the demography. The Sinhalese population of Trinco used to be less than 5 per cent; now it's 23 per cent. Sinhalese people were given houses and land, to encourage them to settle, while Tamils were subjected to intimidation and extortion. These were the stepping stones that led to the violent struggle, because we could see no light at the end of the tunnel."
And today? "The same thing goes on," he insisted. "They don't talk about it but they are still trying to move Sinhalese people from the south to the north and east so in future we Tamils can never say: this is a Tamil area.
"I never supported the LTTE," he went on. "It was wrong to go down the path of violence. But it happened because people saw no light at the end of the tunnel. And that's still true today. None of these things would be a problem if there was justice in this land."

is there any light now for tamil homelands????

NO.

so what should they do??? take up arms and get fcuked. or give up.

/The United National Party (UNP) should hand over its leadership to Hambantota district parliamentarian Sajith Premadasa, the son of former President Ranasingha Premadasa, said Gampaha district MP John Amaratunga./

Apart from being the son of a former president what exactly SP has to be UNP leader?

He scores high manapa % but many others have done so. It shows he is popular in one district and probably can be generalized to rural areas. So this may attract some rural voters but its a hard job to get rural votes for UNP compared to getting suburb votes (colombian type) to UNP.

SP has not even held a responsible minister post so far. SP may not attract muslim/tamil vote base which is >50% UNP votes now. Evangelists and colombians who are at the center of UNP now, will not like him.

A better option may be to import a SLFPer or former UNP cross over to UNP offer him leadership. BR will be a good choice.

these foolish idiots don't know who their voters are!!!!

if UNP thinks it can win rural voters and retain them, they must be joking!!

if they lose the colombans in the process, that will be lovely.

the BEST course of action for the UNP is to get a sudda as their leader!!!

all the tamils will vote for him.
ALL colombians will vote for him, worship him and do ANYTHING for him.
b(loody)lake will ENDORSE him.
human rights jokers will LOVE him.
homosexuals will shag looking at him!!
all other plonkers will sleep with him.
evangelicals will kiss him.
tamil transexual govt will award him the title, "mavirar".
he (not ranil) will eventually be the sonia of SL. so he must be an english speaking ITALIAN!!
that way even the underworld mafia will be happy!!!

ABOVE ALL, he will reestablish the UNP as it should be from a UNP pov.

when he speaks with a heavy foreign accent in english of course, even village level UNPers will get multiple orgasms.

the 5% voters who ALWAYS want change will love him. what a change!

if he can promise villagers he will give them all foreign jobs, they will believe him and vote for him.

so he can win the next PE going by the by numbers!!

you see sudda didn't have much problems running SL. he didn't distrub SL social structures deliberately. he found his servants FROM THAT STRUCTURE ITSELF!!!

What a foolish play from both SL and Zim.

- Sanga bowling a pacie with long run up in limited time.

- Zim not going all guns blazing while it was obvious that more than 5-6 overs will not be played.

- Randiv appealing in fifth ball of fifth over. What if it was given out.

- Whoever [was it sanga] throwing at wicket in the same ball. It cost some more time to complete fifth over.

- One Zim batter not walking over. It would be retired out, but last ball would never have bowled had he gone. So they missed their chance to enter S8 by drawing here.

Anyway for the spirit of the game the genuine play happened in all cases. Foolish though.

Now the dismal SL rides on magnificent Mahela's back to S8 as the first team to be selected. But we're likely to turn it into a FIFO - First In First Out, unless we make some serious amendments and play more sensibly.

Every day Sanga puts more burden on my aging nerves. Sanga is perhaps the most common sense lacking cricketer I ever saw.

when may 18th approaches, all the TE ghosts will rise up again. they will tell us not to "celebrate". not to add insult to the wounds. not to make war. blah...blah......blah

there is a scientific need for celebrations although PRIORITY must be given to soldiers' welfare not soldiers entertaining others!!! its THEIR day. they should be made to feel like kings on that day, which they truely are.

if we don't celebrate, that means it is nothing; not a victory; not a historical event. this is very dangerous.

motivation theory says when someone does well, he must be encouraged. this is the way to ensure repeat performance. threats to SL are not over yet.

celebrations will also drive SHAME, FEAR, DISGUST, s sense of not belonging here into the minds of tamil elamists.

this is the MOST IMPORTANT thing. it is this that will keep them away from tamil elam crap in SL. this is what differentiates between pro-SLs and anti-SLs. there cannnot be ANY reconciliation between them. there is no need. let the pro-SL tamil sections celebrate at the expense of anti-SL sinhala, tamil, muslim MFs.

let there be MAXIMUM humiliation for those who invested time, money, effort into dividing SL. let them get DISGUSTED and leave SL for good laying their TE eggs in the transexual govt.

Sri Lankans 'united' in UK elections

By Saroj Pathirana
BBC Sinhala Service
May 03, 2010

Leaders of three major UK parties
More than 200,000 of the Sri Lankan diaspora appears to be united in their allegiances in the upcoming UK parliamentary elections.

Immigration and economic policies of the major political parties are the key areas when deciding their vote at the elections, claimed students and young Sri Lankans living in UK.

For some, though, the TV debates that resulted with the Liberal Democrats taking the lead in opinion polls seems to have energised the younger generation.

Sri Lankan students, though not permanent residents, are temporarily allowed to vote in UK as citizens of the Commonwealth.

Although the Labour government is seen as supportive of immigrants, for students in particular, all might not be that rosy for the immigrants if the Conservative party comes to power, according to Sri Lankan student Akila Nadeera Perera.

Mohamed Rilvan Mohamed Nisar, another student at a London higher education college, agrees.

Immigration policy

"As a result of the recession, it is already very difficult to find a part time job to cover my expenses. But I think under a Conservative government things would be worse," he told BBC Sandeshaya.

Majority of the students and other young people Sandeshaya spoke to were of a similar opinion.

But Lakshman Wanigasuriya, the president of the Conservative branch in Totteridge in High Wycombe constituency, disagrees.

"Under the Labour government, the immigration policy has constantly been changing," he said.

"Students who come to UK for one category, for example, are later confused as to which category they belong after sudden changes," Mr. Wanigasuriya said adding that under a Conservative government there would be a consistent policy.

"Every tax paying legal immigrant is of the opinion that this immigration policy needs to be changed."

For Dhanushka Perera, a recent graduate currently working in the IT industry, it is the overall performance of the government, not only immigration that matters.

"I think Gordon Brown is very serious when he talks about policies than David Cameron," he said.

Shiyamala Selvaratnam, a young web designer grown up in London, regards herself as a Londoner as well as an immigrant.

TV debate

She said herself, as well as many among the younger generation, were influenced by the confident performance at the TV debates by Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg.

"I think immigration issue is important but at the same time it is important to empower the younger generation," she told BBCSinhala.com.

Sri Lankans 'united' in UK elections

........continued........
Riza Jazeel, Chairman of SL2G, a group of first and second generation Sri Lankan young people, is of the opinion that the main reason for Mr. Cleggs sudden popularity is the public's dissatisfaction with the policies and manifestos of Labour and the Conservatives.

"Sadly it's more of a negative criticism of the other two parties than a positive statement about the Liberal Democrats. It's an interesting phenomenon to see that the TV debates have had a massive effect on general opinion and decision making. Whether that's a good or a bad thing remains to be seen," he said.

But for some recently arrived students, survival under a recession is the main issue.

Chanuka Dilshan Perera, a student who has been in UK for more than two years is of the opinion that it is also important to focus on economic policies.

"Many students cannot survive with what they get from Sri Lanka so they must have a part time job. It is already difficult but if the government changes things would be more difficult."

Agreeing, Lakshman Wanigasuriya says it is only Conservatives who could take the UK out of the recession.

War crimes

"I think Conservative party is the single party that has proposed policies to improve the economy as well as other social factors in UK," he said.

Tamil protesting in London (file photo)
Thousands of Sri Lankan Tamils have been protesting in london during the war

Dharanga Rathnayake, an IT student in UK, is of the opinion that economic policies proposed by the Conservative party might result with further job cuts.

"That will badly affect us when we join the job market after completing the course," he said.

Meanwhile, Riza Jazeel, who regards himself as British and Sri Lankan, says the main issues in deciding his vote are the economy and the impact on his business.

"I'm considering the way in which I think the UK will behave as an international citizen, but in terms of Sri Lanka, there's a growing unhappiness with the behaviour of the west, or any country really, when it criticises or disagrees with Sri Lanka," he told BBC Sinhala service.

But that is exactly what Sivendran Nadarajah, a young Tamil student in London expects from the next government in UK.

"I think the British government that sold weapons to Sri Lankan government in the height of the war, has got the responsibility taking up the war crimes issue forward," he said.

The British government should also take the historical responsibility of "creating a mess" in colonial times and putting the country back to normalcy, he says.

"We would like the British government, whatever party it is, to put the pressure on the UN and also the Commonwealth to do something about the plight of the Tamils in Sri Lanka," he added.

Guys another poem praising the monkeys./

These are the people who worked for LTTE in peace front/ media front/ artist front. Now they can't stop whining. Good there is no English translations. This also shows how good is to remove all LTTE ruins. If we leave sun goats cemetry these scum will go there and worship.

/the BEST course of action for the UNP is to get a sudda as their leader!!!/

LOLz Possibly the best option for UNP. They may never get a chance to be ruled by a kalu-sudda but its not bad they can be ruled by a real sudda in their party.

Nearly 50,000 widows in the east

Neary 40 percent of them were widowed as a result of the war, says the minister
The Government of Sri Lanka says that around 50,000 widows are living in the eastern province alone.

Deputy Minister for Women and Child welfare MLAM Hizbullah told the BBC Tamil Service that nearly forty percent of those were widowed as a result of the decades-long war between the government forces and the LTTE.

Many of these widows are less than 40 years of age according to the statistical survey done by the government says the minister.

"This is a matter of great concern" says Minister Hizbullah, who was the women's affairs minister in the provincial government until recently.

The government of Sri Lanka has claimed that the eastern province was liberated from the clutches of the now militarily defeated LTTE by mid 2007 during the first phase of the final war against the Tamil Tigers.

Lack of funds

War widows in thousands are also living in other parts of Sri Lanka as well, according to the deputy minister of women and child welfare.

Minister says there was no funding from the central Govt. to help widows

An expert group from India recently visited the eastern province to understand the issues faced by the war widows and apprised them of the efforts taken in India regarding similar issues.

India has assured to immediately help 1000 war widows at the first instance offering them training in possible self employment schemes, according to the minister.

The government of Sri Lanka would also be interacting and seeking help from other countries and Non Governmental Organisations in this regard to take forward the rehabilitation and welfare of the war widows says Minister Hizbullah.

"Lack of funds from the central government" to the eastern provincial council government was an impediment in taking forward the welfare and rehabilitation schemes of these widows in the past, he said.

The efforts taken by the government now, is only a small beginning in rehabilitating the war widows and many things need to be done on a fast pace to ensure a decent livelihood for these destitutes opines the junior minister in charge of such activities.

"Rehabilitating the war widows financially and socially will be a mammoth task for the government," agrees Minister Hizbullah.

The government of Sri Lanka has not planned any special recruitment drive or educational plans for these war widows at present.

However “efforts on war footing will be taken to rehabilitate the war widows” says the deputy minister for women and child welfare of Sri Lanka MLAM Hizbullah.

Hope nations' good soldier will walk the talk...

/Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapakse on Friday said that the Foreign Ministry had a pivotal role to play in countering the adverse propaganda launched by the Tamil Groups operating overseas lobbying for a separate state in Sri Lanka and the country’s diplomatic missions overseas would have to forge closer links with their host governments to defeat the LTTE’s strategy.

"Terrorism in the country has been defeated, but we must not allow the Pro-Ealam lobby and the other groups operating in exile and lobbying for a separate state in Sri Lanka to mislead the world community and the Tamil expatriates," he said.

Those groups had been able to launch a massive propaganda blitz in other countries and foreign governments were reluctant to cooperate with Sri Lanka to help eliminated LTTE terrorism, the Defence Secretary said.

Sri Lanka’s strategy of countering LTTE propaganda had paid dividends after the government posted senior military personnel to key diplomatic posts in the countries where LTTE supporters were active. The Defence Secretary said the posting of Maj. Gen. Udaya Perera as the Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia was a case in point.

The intelligence network established by those men had drastically changed situation in Sri Lanka’s favour, he said./

As long as power hungry, me first-party second-country last, politicos like kirialla stays in the center, UNP will stay in opposition.. No reorganization is going to get them power.. This scum must be happy about reducing sinhala buddhist votes for UNP.. When he opens mouth next time it will be reduced more..

/UNP Kandy District MP, Lakshman Kiriella, scotched rumours that he would resign from the party and act independently in Parliament over the appointment of John Amaratunga as Chief Opposition Whip by UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Kiriella told The Island on Sunday that it was a very unfair decision made by Wickremesinghe.

He said: "It was Ravi Karunanayake and I who held forth in the morning sessions in the previous Parliament when only five to six UNP MPs were present.

I will never leave the UNP and let down the people who voted for me. I am the only Sinhala Buddhist UNP MP from the Kandy District. The UNP has lost the Sinhala Buddhist vote base by more than half. It used to be 45 percent, but now it has been reduced to 20 percent. Unless the UNP is reorganised, it will never regain the Sinhala Buddhist vote and will have to remain in the opposition for the next 12 years."/

Great! More strengthening of Defence Capabilities in the North!

We need to create a Ran Weta around Sri Lanka by converting former Sea Tiger bases into Naval bases, upgrading them, and incorporating them into the PERMANENT DEFENCE of the coastline.

Let there be Navy bases, capable of launching patrol boats, within sight of each other ALL AROUND the coast!

The slipway is capable of undertaking the routine underwater maintenance of vessels up to 60 tons.

This new slipway will share the routine underwater maintenance jobs of Naval vessels done by the slipways at Trincomalee and Galle.

Although the estimated cost for constructing this type of slipway is Rs. 120 million, the Navy was able to save a huge capital of government expenditure by constructing the slipway, using only their own technology and the manpower, at a cost of around Rs. 39 million.

In the evening the Defence Secretary worshipped the historical Nagadeepa Viharaya. He discussed the future development plans of the temple with Chief Incumbent and the Chief Sanganayake Thera of the Northern Province Ven. Navandagala Padumakithti Tissa Thera. He also met devotees at Nagadeepa temple.

He observed the Navy’s involvement in providing the pilgrims with welfare facilities too.

Sri Lanka Army (SLA) in Jaffna using bulldozers completely destroyed E’l’laangku’lam Liberation Tiger War Heroes’ Resting Homes in Uduppiddi in Vadmaraadchi Monday night, former Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian Sivajilingam said. He told that local residents in Uduppiddi had conveyed the information by phone.

When SLA forces first occupied Jaffna peninsula in 1996 they had fully destroyed the above Liberation Tiger War heroes’ resting home tombs.

They were, however, restored during the peace period after 2002 and War Heroes’ Day observed each year,

When clashes erupted again in 2006, SLA forces occupying Jaffna peninsula had damaged the tombs besides taking away the valuable articles and the electricity equipments therein.

Recently, Liberation Tigers’ Leader Mr. V. Pirapaharan’s residence in Vavleddiththu’rai was destroyed by SLA forces.

Similarly, Black Tiger Miller’s memorial monument in Nelliayadi too had been completely destroyed by SLA forces."

bloody fcuking hell!!

houston we have a FCUKING problem.

didn't i say ISR = SRI and palestine = tamil elam BOTH politically and militarily.

now shitt is going to hit the ceiling. this is why the transexuals are in a MIGHTY hurry to have their crap.

appolo 13 : are we fcuked up?
houston : not yet.

just read the following and you can imagine what these transexual MFs are trying to do.

"The State of Palestine, officially simply Palestine, was unilaterally declared on 15 November 1988, in Algiers (NOT part of "palestine") by the Palestine Liberation Organization's (PLO) Palestinian National Council (PNC). It is a state with limited recognition.

At the time of the declaration, the PLO did not exercise any control over the territory in question.

The declaration designated Jerusalem the capital of Palestine, despite Israeli control over the city and its designation as the Israeli capital in Israeli law.

More than 100 countries recognized the state of Palestine, while other countries announced they welcomed this step without explicitly declaring recognition.

--- MOSTLY POOR countries recognized it. when it comes to TE, mostly rich countries will recognize it. ----

The United Nations General Assembly officially acknowledged the 1988 proclamation and voted to change the name of the PLO General Assembly permanent observer to "Palestine".

In the list of "non-member states and entities" Palestine is categorized under "Other entities having received a standing invitation to participate as observers in the sessions and the work of the General Assembly and are maintaining permanent offices at Headquarters".

The Palestinian National Authority (PNA or PA), established as a result of the Oslo Accords (didn't the MFs try this in SL too????? which were signed between the PLO and Israel, is an interim administrative body (how fcuking familiar??? interim self-governing authority. and now provisional transexual govt.) that exercises some governmental functions in parts of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The current President of Palestine is Mahmoud Abbas, serving in his capacity as Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization."

something tell me that we will not be the only guys celebrating may 18th. from what i hear TE MFs are planning to declare their crap around may 20th.

WHEN (not if) they get OBSERVER status of the UN, we will be in deeep shitt. nothing much they can do in the UN but this will give them HUGE power internationally. put to that the support they get from rich countries against poor SL and we have a big problem.

alos they will observe IN DETAIL, FIRST HAND what happenes to war crimes crap at the UN and take action accordingly.

Moshe, old boy, excellent analysis of the GE results. I have been buried up to my neck in work as of late. Hence no posts for a long time here. In addition I am a strong advocate of starting war crimes trials for LTTE scumbags in custody and public hangings for each and every criminal slum-dog.

Well this is why we have whiners writing poems about it. More they are hurt it is good for us.

But the sinhala hearts are touched. Those who suddenly fall into these blog posts [by means of friends F/B pages where they share it] suddenly wanna give their heart out to poor innocent "free-done fighters". And little by little it is our valiant forces they make darker and the arseholes are made fallen roses.

So it continues. I am sure there is some growing [still small] awareness that "we shud not go to Jaffna and trouble poor civilians" or "why do we destroy their tombs. We goota respect teh dead no" or "let's give them some relief. May be some powers" etc. Shit logic yet for an absolute layman it is the fullday round of Meththa.

Re: Transexual Govt

They found a new thing to screw the dollar a day community.

BTW like moshe said it is Palasthene ave they take. Indeed. And their hope is to tarnish SL, notably current administration and use it to call for a country acceptance. Maybe UN seat they aim at.

I cannot say GOSL is doing enough. Sure the good old Gota is looking as far as he can see. Yet I expect little from MoFA. Last thing I wanna hear is the ten lines long absolutely academic analysis from its floating minister about transexual tamil shit.

He shud work on how he can get the terrorists shipped back to SL, and that is in fact all his job is. Hope gota will either make him or break him.

SK,

there is nothing much MoFA can do to stop that.

TE transuxal crap will become a UN observer.

it is easy to blame the PROPOGANDA arm. i disagree.

the propoganda arm can achieve only 10%. that too works on what is achieved at the ground level.

propoganda does not drive ground work, its the other way round.

e.g. how did defence.lk beat toiletnet.com????

by doing NOTHING. just doing what it does. SLDFs did the rest.

we have to tactfully FRUSTRATE the TE project. that is the only way we can win this propoganda war. the propoganda war is NOT necessarily a war of propoganda.

it has to be fought on ground. in SL. with REGULAR countering of anti-SL stuff in the IC. but the main thrust should be on ground.

e.g. JRJ skillfully raised the STF. STF was under the police. police is considered civilians and IF tigers killed STF guys, that was taken as civilian killings and retaliated accordingly. terrorist acts were reported as killing police officers to the world which is a war crime.

but STF was in reality, a battle capable, force.

in a nutshell, STF could do anything to screw the tigers but when tigers attacke, them, tigers were harming civilians (police)!!!

clever use of SL's UN membership, legitimacy and rule of law.

this is the type of thing we need.

WORK ON THE GROUND that CREATE propoganda effect.

the best propoganda tool is colonization.

for the outside world, it is development, ethnic harmony, peace, coexistence. for tamil elamists ---> DOOM.

this is in the short term.

in the long term, frustration of the TE project. that automatically takes care of their anti-SL propoganda.
