Hi friends I am elated about this victory.
Anybody who voted SF innocently and sincerely believing in change we forgive even though there enough indications that SF would have easily become much more worse than Idi Amin.
Others who advocated to refrain from voting and refrained from voting must know that they are wittingly or unwittingly supporting LTTE separatism and Idi Aminism of worst kind.
Of course who went kade for SF promoting him as the purest candidate knowing much more than petty mortal like myself know are a disgrace for humanity poor examples of human being. They should check theiry genetic code checked out.
Folks;
If MR records 40% of valid votes in North, it is a bigger win than the 2/3 elsewhere.
And that tiny bit of vote maybe soo irrelevant in the landslide, yet very very important on its own.
In all teh pressure of campaign, MR did not give a grain of sand to eelam elements. He openly said ppl in North dont want a bloody political solution but they wanna get going with teh life and be like others in teh country. And he continued endorsing ethnic mixture. HIn those grounds if North still votes for him. It is a worthy matter for making Kiribath for all Sri Lankans.
I call that HOPE. Heartily, indeed. Let us wait and see

You are correct about US laws.
In the US, permanent residency is an interim step to citizenship, but some never take that final step. Also, the US discourages, but allows, dual-citizenship. To be US President, or to be in the direct line of succession to the Presidency like the VP and the Speaker of the House of Representative, you must be born in the US, and not a citizen by immigration naturalization.
But, I was arguing a general principle that SRI LANKA SHOULD MANDATE (and the US does too per above comments).
That is, you MUST be a citizen to vote and engage in national politics, and in addition to vote you MUST be required to register to vote.

Stable governance of Sri Lanka by National Deshapremi Forces will remain essential to preserving the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka, and fostering its economic progress in the future, as Sri Lanka's enemies continue to undermine it with renewed zeal.
As we see in this Presidential Election, EMBEDDING and SUSTAINING Patriotism in the Hearts and Minds of ordinary Sri Lankans is the KEY to attaining that goal of a stable and efficient Deshapremi National Government.

Early on Wednesday, Fonseka said soldiers had surrounded the Cinnamon Lakeside hotel in the capital, Colombo, where he was staying with former prime minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, the official opposition leader, and other opposition party heads.
"These people have surrounded the hotel with military and threatened my security people," Fonseka told Reuters by phone. "They had a plan to surround us and take us into custody and I don't know if this is that phase of that particular operation."
Fonseka in the final days of the campaign said the government had plans to either steal the vote or arrest him should he win. The government laughed it off, saying Rajapaksa would win the race cleanly and had no need to cheat.

A senior military source and a top presidential aide said that Fonseka had been put under watch to ensure he did not attempt to organise a coup with his own loyalists in the army he commanded just eight months ago.

Remember, ALL the "polls" that said Gonseka was going to win were internet polls.
Western media and their local agents in SL said Gonseka is going to win because Sinhala vote is "split". They provided no proof AND ignored the actually polls/surveys one n SL by the 3 groups mentioned above (Univercity, Nexus Research and the Indian group). Not once did Western media mention them.
They were too busy trying to prop up Gonseka and discredit the election itself in the first place.
Colombo district tied at 49% with 75% votes reported;
Avissawella, Kaduwela, Kolonnawa and Maharagama yet to report.

First he said Gota ordered weapons after the war and he disagreed then he said he ordred weapons Gota disagreed.

He said Gota ordered them to be shot, then said he was misquoted and then again said Gota ordered shooting.
He says he is against corruption, but promised the tax frauds of Golden key company they will be repayed with governmnet money, and declares that no fraud has been committed even when the court has decided a fraud has been committed.
Listen to his Sirasa interview, no plan to develop the country, no vision, no idea on economy, jut spewing hatred against Gota and the Rajapaksha brothers.
JVP says Fonseka will abolish executive presidency, Fonseka says he will not be William Goppallawa, Ranil says he will be executive prime minister, Fonseka says nothing.
He has lot his credibility, its all downhill from here.

Maybe his security detail assigned to him augmented with Army deserters and JVP thugs? But CNN is crying bad for Gonseka, his failure to register is being blamed on the Government by them. Bunch of retards.
Anyway i believe Gonseka with Ranil and his white friends in the hotel are plotting and planning a coup, and his aides (including this "security force") was going to leave the Hotel to carry out his instructions. Government has blocked it.
Why is he in a hotel anyway? Why not his "home" in the South or Ranils place etc etc?

Opposition candidate misled the Sri Lankan public, NFF leader says

Jan 26, Colombo: The common opposition candidate General Sarath Fonseka has seriously misled the public by not revealing that he is not a registered voter, leader of the National Freedom Front parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa said today.
Weerawansa said the candidate concealed the fact that he is not in the voter registration list until the last minute to deceive the voters as the revelation would have undermined the legality of his candidature for presidency.
The opposition candidate informed the public in the last hour of polling that he is not eligible to vote but eligible to contest the election. The Election Commissioner released a statement confirming his eligibility to contest the polls.
When contacted by the media earlier in the day, co-spokesman for Fonseka JVP parliamentarian Anura Kumara Dissanayake has said that due to security reasons the footage of the candidate casting his vote will be sent to the media by his office.
JVP MP Weerawansa pointed out that Dissanayake's statement proves that the candidate has misled the public. Under these circumstances, Weerawansa says there is no justification to count the votes cast for Fonseka.
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said the leaders of the political parties supporting the opposition candidate should seek pardon from the nation because the presidential candidate is an individual whose name is not listed in the voter register.
Another presidential candidate, Sarath Kongahage, filed a fundamental rights petition before the Supreme Court, challenging the candidature of Fonseka on the basis that Fonseka is a permanent residency visa holder of the United States.
The petitioner said that the General has pledged allegiance to the US and therefore, unfit to hold the office of the President of Sri Lanka.
When Kongahage raised this issue after the nomination the Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake overruled his objection.

just got news from a reliable source that the election commissioner has been held house arrest...basil is in command at the election office..according to the news SF has won convincingly.. also SIRASA and Swarnawahini crew has been placed on house arrest.. please note that the presenters are working from yesterday. all the media has been driven from the election department and there has been no live program from election office since last night...await more news...

Sorry, what I mean is D'madulla district. Electorate Ampara has been won. But district Ampara which is teh same as D'madulla is lost.
