Re: Computer JillMart [:)]

It all began with one stupid comment. In his usual conspiracy mode, Somawansa said the following.

"In 2004 in GE, when MR wanted to become the list first of hambantota [aparently, as per him, which really was a JVPer], he asked for their permission to change it in a Computer Jillmart. Therefore this time also same Jillmart must be done."

First of all this shud be another lie or misunderstanding of JVP [who has problem in understanding anything incl Marxism]. But let us ASSUME it is true.

And let us ASSUME that Jillmarts are possible in computer although this idiot is talking utter nonsense.

Now, see the real life [non-tech] differences in the alleged 2004 Jillmart and 2010 one, which needs no BSc to understand.

- In 2004 the allegation is about a single result sheet. I checked voting gradients of 2010, to find anything abnormal. When plotted with demographic barriers the whole result looks smooth. Hence it cannot be rigged at one place, if rigged it shud be the whole island.

- In 2004 it was a mere pref vote list, shuffling one and two is ok as long as both get selected, and especially one [JVP] cares nothing about pref voting. In 2010 ...

- In 2004 the alleged swap was done by full agreement of all parties. It is impossible otherwise.

A computer maybe a JillMart for Somawansa, yet the above facts shud be obvious even if his allegation is right.

Some poor general ate the toffee of the retard socialist again and now barking louder than his dalmatian puppy. Meanwhile Somawansa who sold the toffee is busy in getting ready for GE.

And the bally fools are barking all over F/B and forums in web, threatening, complaining, crying, laughing and showing all sorts of hysteria.

Good. I think them going alone will give some room for Karuna to improve SLFP hold in East. If TMVP remain within UPFA again there will be the same debate and eventually one day they'll move away. But in the void of them, the SLFP's own strongman from East, Karuna, can improve the party membership in East. Since TMVP is friends [and not really eelamists] they can be taken to govt later.

If SLFP can win a seat each in Trinco and Batti, with two in D'madulla that is a great win. And that will give a major political backing for Karuna.

Moshe,

With regards to the BBC and other Western media and the West itself you just need to see how they reported in May 2009.

They were crying about the LTTE destruction more than the die-ass-pora itself.

Going by the reporting from them they made it sound like Sinhalese were also sad the war was over and were no longer being blown up anymore. That women Catherine Philip from the Times literally said that.
They then tied in die-ass-pora tales of people being "forced" to eat and celebrate.

They love conflict and seeing countries around the world suffer miserably. They hate to see success and development with them involved in some form (or their stooges). It is why they hate China being in Africa. To them Africa is their property.

Lankan parliament to be dissolved on Feb 5

P K Balachandran
February 01, 2010

COLOMBO: The Sri Lankan Parliament is to be dissolved on February 5 so that elections may be held in late March or April, according to The Sunday Times. The term of the present parliament ends in April. The present parliament could, however, meet in between, to pass the State of Emergency, which is a monthly requirement, or for any emergency.

OATH TAKING IN KANDY: The paper also reported that Mahinda Rajapaksa would take his oaths as the re-elected President of Sri Lanka, in Kandy on February 4, Lanka’s Independence Day.

It was to the heads of the highest seats of Buddhism in Sri Lanka, the Mahanayakes of the Nikayas of Malwatte and Asgiriya, that Rajapaksa first conveyed his decision to take the oaths in Kandy on February 4.

OK, Here is a QUIZ:

Does $16 million in aid make Norway a major provider of assistance to Sri Lanka?

Are they still PRIMARILY funding only their terrorist pals in the Wanni?

The GOSL should break-off diplomatic relations with Norway; we just don't need this particular enemy country, which AIDED & ABETTED terrorists in Sri Lanka to destroy it, having any future relationship with Sri Lanka.

We have VERY LONG MEMORIES, Erik Solheim!

Election result gives clear opportunity to Sri Lanka President to find lasting peace, Norway says

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 02, Colombo: In a congratulatory message to Sri Lanka President Mahinda Rajapaksa on his re-election, Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development Erik Solheim said the clear result of January 26th election gives the President a historic opportunity to lay the foundation for lasting peace in the war-torn country.

"I would like to congratulate President Rajapaksa. Norway and Sri Lanka enjoy close and longstanding bilateral relations. We intend to continue our cooperation with the Government and people of Sri Lanka with a view to promoting lasting peace and development," Solheim said in his message.

Solheim expressing concern that there were reports of unrest and violence in the run up to the election, as well as of possible violations of the election law although the election itself was relatively peaceful urged the Sri Lankan government to investigate allegations.

"We urge that these allegations be investigated in accordance with Sri Lankan law and the country’s democratic traditions,' Solheim said in his statement.

Solheim pointed out that to achieve sustainable peace in Sri Lanka, a political solution must be found that safeguards the rights of all the country's minority groups, including the Tamils.

"I hope President Rajapaksa will give priority to finding a political solution that is acceptable to all groups," Solheim said.

Norway's Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg has also sent a letter of congratulations to President Rajapaksa.

Norway brokered the 2002 ceasefire agreement between the Sri Lankan Government of then Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe and the LTTE Tamil Tiger leaders. President Rajapaksa's government abrogated the defunct ceasefire agreement in 2008 and launched a military operation to liberate the North and East from the LTTE.

Although Norway has not had a specific role since the end of the war in may 2009, it continues to work for a political solution in Sri Lanka, together with other countries and organizations.

In 2009, Norway was one of the major providers of humanitarian aid to the country. The funding of NOK 94 million (USD 16 million) went primarily to assisting the internally displaced in the north and east of the country, Norwegian Embassy said.

Good choice by this "master mind" Tamilia :))

BUT

Turkey does not tolerate Kurds and goes to war with them.

Kurds are like the Tamils of the middle east.

Kurds also Stateless, but now building a State in Iraq, taken 1/3 the country thanks to US.

Arabs killing each other, Kurds (US ally in Iraq and Iran, but offered limited support in Turkey because US needs Turkey as ally against Iran too +Arabs as fail safe) become "king makers" and benefit immensely. Already talk of "devolution" there, in fact it has already happened just not on paper.

Parallels with SL today:

Sinhalese with Gonseka all most started killing each other because of Gonseka madness (he would start killings of his enemies, then get counter killings etc etc).

Minorities become "king makers" and benefit (if Janaral won and established his dictatorship, Tamilia will "fight for democracy" and also complain about suddha's sanction hurting them when it should only be for Sinhalas, suddha will then lift sanctions on N&E only and this time OPENLY support Tamilia).

No support for Tamilia in India because they need India as an ally against China but Tamilia in SL act as ally + fail safe against India if India gets "too big".

Supreme Court Decision

I don't understand the LOGIC supporting this decision. Either they should grant 2 years till 2011, or deny the extension in full, and require MR's term to start immediately. Where did a 1-year extension come from?

.............
Sri Lanka President's second term begins in November 2010

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 02, Colombo: Sri Lanka Supreme Court has ruled today that President Mahinda Rajapaksa's second six-year term in office will begin in November 2010.

President Rajapaksa called the presidential elections two years earlier than the first term were to end seeking to capitalize on his popularity after defeating the Tamil Tiger terrorists in May 2009.

According to the court ruling today President Rajapaksa will remain in power until 2016 November.

Rajapaksa won the presidential elections held on January 26th with a clear majority of 18 percent receiving 57.8 percent of the votes. His main contender common opposition candidate, former military chief General Sarath Fonseka received 40 percent.

A seven–member bench of Supreme Court judges comprising Chief Justice Ashoka de Silva and justices Shirani Bandaranayake, Jagath Balapatabendi and K. Sripavan, P.A. Ratnayake, Chandra Ekanayaka and S.I. Imam has decided that President should assume office in November 2010 not 2011 as the President has Sought.

Attorney General Mohan Peiris PC submitted that in terms of the Articles 31 of the Constitution, the second term of President Mahinda Rajapaksa should commence on November 19, this year.

President Rajapaksa was first elected to the office in November 2005 and under the constitution he could seek a fresh mandate after four years in office. He called elections in November 2009 forfeiting 2 years of his possible 12-year mandate. The Supreme Court ruling today gives him an additional year in the office.

There is a legal dispute on when to start second term if PE held before 6 years of first term. And according to SL constitution if there is any legal dispute president must seek SC advice and thats what MR did. Its upto SC to give their interpretation.

Question was will the term start as stated in article 31(d) chapter 7 (see below) or from the date MR takes auoths. And SC decision is to follow 31(d). There is a difference when CBK got a SC decision as at that time she has already taken auths.

/(d) The person declared elected as President at an election held under this paragraph shall, if such person –

(i) is the President in office, hold office for a term of six years commencing on such date in the year in which that election is held (being a date after such election) or in the succeeding year, as corresponds to the date on which his first term of office commenced, whichever date is earlier ; or

(ii) is not the President in office, hold office for a term of six years commencing on the date on which the result of such election is declared./

India created TAMIL terrorism in Sri Lanka by training and delivering these terrorists.

Now, India sheds COPIOUS TEARS again for the Tamils after the resulting 30-year terrorist plague has finally been eradicated from Sri Lanka by Sri Lanka ALONE.

When is India going to LEARN that they are CULPABLE for the pain and suffering inflicted on Sri Lanka, and as such are neither ELIGIBLE to advise Sri Lanka on solutions to this problem, no do we Sri Lankans want India BUTTING ITS OBNOXIOUS NOSE into this matter again.

I advise India to attend to the terrorist problems affecting over 800 million people in INDIA itself, with which it seems to be UNABLE to cope with, or have ANY SOLUTIONS FOR, before it starts PREACHING to Sri Lanka. STUPIDITY MUST END SOMEWHERE!

I don't give a damn whether it is ethical for a monk to take politics, but as a matter of fact they do and have been doing so for the entire known history. But pls think of country not Party monks [not the Benz either]. Your greed and narrow minded presence makes us feel that you're below us. And do not blame me, I do not respect you at all.

Re: MG Mahesh Senanayake et al [my comment to DW]

These are the true costs of the split of the forces. There is no need to say how valued some of them are, but anyone suspicious for coup cannot be held within the ranks.

Whatever the charges they brought, I suspect that the true reason is the suspicion for the coup. It is right to act on this basis.

A coup is not a threat on election day only. In fact the threat exists everyday. And seeing SF's behavior, I have no doubt that he'll try that path if the opportunity is available at any time.

However the basis of selection seems as the alliance with SF and the support for SF campaign. It is not a clear evidence, can be even based on rumors. But the risk of coup makes the MoD act faster and have to act pre-emptively.

Sadly, among these there can be innocent. It is a paramount responsibility of MoD to conduct a full investigation on each and remedy any such injustice.

If I remember right, most heroes of Eastern battles have been rather punished by SF. MoD is still taking remedial actions to deliver the justice for them. Compared to many such names [and the kinda times of need that they were kicked out instead] the losses here are minor.

These are the examples of great patriots getting deceived by enemies of the nation. In fact even SF was one. I still disagree with many that SF wasn't a patriot from day 1. Nop he was a patriot. But power hunger blinded him. Today he stands competing to be number one traitor. So a change of such type carries few more similar ranks away from us. It is a dear loss and the real loss of the split.

In my view, MG Senananyake is not likely to assist us in another war of that kind before his previously planned natural retirement day. But the knowledge of such officers is a loss at any level, in terms of shaping SLDF to a fine unit in contemporary warfare.

Nevertheless, one down, 100s saved.

[[MARAM NAI - tree dog]]

Is this where the Sinhala term "Gus Balla" descending from? In real sinhala there is no meaning for that, as Kala Vedda or Uguduva is not called by taht name. There is no animal, but it is used to blame ppl when really angry/outraged.

It has to be a crossed word from some language. But English has no use for "tree dog". So naturally it looks like a tamil sinhala word exchange.

But surely SF registered the word.

Does he really think he ran a flawless campaign?

His ability to lie and twist things beats the Tamil die-ass-pora:

Fonseka says he will challenge
Presidential Election result in Court
Communal tensions whipped up by interpretation of voting pattern
by Zacki Jabbar

A petition challenging the result of last week’s Presidential Election will be filed in Court shortly, the Oppositions Common Candidate Sarath Fonseka said yesterday.

He told The Island that his lawyers were in the process of gathering evidence of malpractices and polls rigging, that had been reported from various parts of the country.

"I have no problem with losing, but we are sorry that the aspirations of a large number of people could not be fulfilled. They have indicated in one voice, that the verdict canno’t be accepted," Fonseka said. "Just because we do not make a big noise, does not mean that our campaign for justice and fair play, has lost steam."

President Mahinda Rajapaksa was allegedly trying to whip up communal tensions, by claiming to have received the Sinhala Buddhist votes while he (Fonseka) had got the Tamil votes. It’s a dangerous interpretation that can create divisions between the various communities. The efforts of the security forces in ending a thirty year old war, would also be negated, he said

If not for the alleged computer and manual manipulation of the ballots cast, Fonseka said that he would have secured around 5.5 million votes from all the communties.

"Me, my family and supporters are being harassed by the Rajapaksas, but our complaints are not even entertained by the Police. A dictatorship on the lines of Idi Amin’s rule, has been foisted on Sri Lanka," he said. "If the thuggery does not stop, we will raise the matter with the international community. Already, India and the EU have expressed grave concern about the deteriorating law and order situation in Sri Lanka."

Fonseka said that the battle for preference votes among candidates, will help eliminate irregularities to a large extent during the forthcoming parliamentary election.

Deputy leader of the UNP Karu Jayasuriya said that according to many of the Presiding Officers’ reports, there had been serious violations including manipulation of the verdict. There were many instances, where Fonseka’s agents had been kicked out of polling stations.

"The conduct of the State media was disgusting. They violated all norms of decency and totally disregarded the Elections Commissioner’s guidelines for the conduct of a free and fair election."

Leader of the DPF, Mano Ganeshan said that the people of the North and East should be commended for casting their votes in large numbers for a Southern candidate. But, it was unfortunate that some are trying to divide the South, on the basis of the turnout in favour of Fonseka.

SU thanks for the link.

It is clear they were trying for a "successful Iran" and a coup.

Government must keep the media properly informed. They must release information piece by piece.

Large enough that the foreign media will HAVE to report it (otherwise when the arrest is made they will cry foul even though the manipulative SoBs actively monitor all media in Sri Lanka they damn well know that we damn well know what they and their NGOs and UNP tarts+ kalu-suddha Colombians are doing in Sri Lanka but play dumb on purpose).

Then the ground is laid to arrest him.

The Government has to relase nuggets of information. They are holding back too much.

This will be a big mess if they do not do a better job media wise. A bombshell like arresting him then giving explanations AFTER will just be another propaganda/media failure like previous times.

They should release information of his coup and other details such as the HiCorp and Muzzamil bribery case (link all 3 to the West as well, also toss in election violence being carried out by his thugs), keep doing it for a couple weeks (personally i want Gonseka to take part in the GE and loose) then make the arrest so it comes as no surprise.

Government must learn how to handle propaganda, not just for things like this but other issues. You realise information bit by bit, build up interest/concern among the people, and they will also want to know more. Start of small with a innocent allegation that you (pretend) to be uncertain & worried about yourself (such small things made to generate interest/concern always get lodged in the back of the publics minds) release more information and they instantly remember the first small innocent allegation and then with more information there is less doubt, eventually it appears to be real real, then slowly keep building up until you reach the pre-planned conclusion. Then make the "arrest" (e.g. shutting down NGO scum).

It is a bit of a long term process, but works better than making the arrest first then saying why especially with regards to the various scum in the country who have not committed an obvious crime (such as murder/terrorism) but are doing anti-national work.

Three men face Australian court over Tamil Tiger support

Sarah Farnsworth
February 2, 2010

A court has heard three men who raised more than $AU1 million for the Tamil Tigers are senior members of the terrorist organisation in Australia.

Aruran Vinayagamoorthy, Sivarajah Yathavan and Arumugum Rajeevan have admitted to giving money to the Tamil Tigers between 2004 and 2007.

The Tamil Tigers is listed as a terrorist organisation in Australia.

Vinayagamoorthy has also pleaded guilty to providing radio transmitters which the prosecution argue were used for paramilitary activity in Sri Lanka, including denotating roadside bombs.

The prosecution has told the court the men were not just supporters of the Tamil Tigers but had a close association with the organisation.

The court heard they were involved in collecting and transferring more than $AU1 million from Australia to the group over a three year period.

The plea hearing continues.

General Election 2010
JVP in elephantine dilemma
UNP won’t compromise 'elephant' or 'green'

TNA to go it alone

SLMC, Mano G for common alliance

by Shamindra Ferdinando
February 2, 2010

In the wake of a debilitaing defeat at the recently concluded presidential polls, an influential section in the Opposition is now pushing for a joint alliance to contest the forthcoming parliamentary polls.

The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) will not join the proposed alliance, though all other parties, including the JVP which supported Opposition presidential candidate General (retired) Sarath Fonseka, are expected to join the new alliance.

Political sources said that the SLMC and Mano Ganeshan, MP, too, were supportive of the move. Responding to our queries, sources said that those who supported the move were of the opinion that an alliance would prevent a split in the 4,173,185 votes obtained by Fonseka at the presidential poll. Sources said that if the UNP-led United National Front, which comprises the SLMC and Mano Ganeshan’s party, contested the forthcoming parliamentary polls separately leaving the JVP to fight it alone, the Opposition vote would be divided.

Sources said that MPs elected on the TNA ticket would throw their weight behind the Opposition.

Sources dismissed speculation that the UNP would not contest the general election unless the government established independent commissions ahead of the parliamentary polls.

In the run-up to the presidential polls, both the UNP and JVP emphasised that they would contest the parliamentary polls on their own.

The UNP leadership was agreeable to the move on the basis of the proposed alliance contesting the general election on the UNF ticket, sources said. At a hurriedly summoned meeting on Sunday (Jan 31), chaired by UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, UNP District leaders decided that their symbol would be the Elephant and the colour Green. Sources said that the UNP would not compromise either the elephant symbol or their colour at the parliamentary polls, though Wickremesinghe had sacrificed both at the presidential polls to facilitate a coming together of the UNP and the JVP to back Fonseka. Sources said that the UNP leader would lead the campaign as the prime ministerial candidate of the coalition.

Ananda-USA said...

JVP in elephantine dilemma

.......

The UNP is confident that a UNP-led campaign would ensure that the party could retain its block vote and poll a substantial number of floating votes, though it could not prevent a UPFA victory at the forthcoming parliamentary polls.

Sources said that the JVP was not agreeable to the UNP move for obvious reasons. The JVP could not contest on the UNP ticket or accept Wickremesinghe as their prime ministerial candidate. Sources said that Opposition parties were making an attempt to iron out differences between the group seeking a common alliance and those who wanted to field candidates on the UNF ticket.

Sources said that Wickremesinghe was increasingly coming under pressure to give in to the call for a common alliance even at the expense of the UNP. But the Opposition leader had asserted that it would be counterproductive not to contest on the UNP ticket, particularly in the wake of the heavy defeat at the presidential polls, sources said adding that Wickremesinghe’s position had irritated some Opposition heavyweights, who had been campaigning for a common Opposition alliance since last week’s election.

SLFP General Secretary Minister Maithripala Sirisena, MP, told the media last week that the government would go all out to win over four million people who had voted for Fonseka. He said now that Fonseka had been defeated, a large chunk of Opposition voters would switch their allegiance to the ruling coalition.

Sources said that during the presidential election campaign, a section of the UNP had felt that they were being sidelined. The Opposition strategists had conveniently failed to accommodate the UNP, when Mangala Samaraweera, MP and Anura Kumara Dissanayake were appointed as joint spokesmen for the Opposition presidential candidate Fonseka. Sources said that they had gone to the extent of promoting former Chief Justice Sarath Nanda Silva as the Prime Minister of the next government, though the UNP, in no uncertain terms, said that Wickremesinghe would contest as the prime ministerial candidate.

I will oppose ALL those who do treacherous things like SF has done, in the future as well, for Sri Lanka's security depends on keeping its enemies at bay as they change their disguises.

The Actions of Individuals will determine their fate, but none of us can predict with certainty how people will change.

The only reliable indicator we can rely on is their CHARACTER as DEMONSTRATED in the past. Character Counts, but even that is not a perfect indicator, because some people reveal their true nature only when they are tempted by opportunity.

For example, on the basis of your past history, I know you will talk decently to me today, but will viciously stab me in the back tomorrow. So, I wouldn't trust you even as far as I can throw a Grand Piano!

S Lankan general 'behind attacks'

Sri Lanka's main opposition party has accused the country's most senior army officer of being behind violent attacks on reporters.

Opposition MP Joseph Michael Perera told parliament that the attacks were carried out by a "special team" controlled by Lt Gen Sarath Fonseka.

Mr Perera said the government should arrest the offenders and "immediately bring them to justice".

The army has denied that it is any way involved in attacks on journalists.
'Dangerous'

"We are told by those in the army itself that journalists are abducted and subjected to grievous injury by none other than a special unit under the army commander," Mr Perera, a former parliamentary speaker, said.

The World Association of Newspapers recently ranked Sri Lanka as the third most dangerous country in the world for media workers in 2007.

The state is involved in a series of intimidations, abductions and killings of media persons

Joseph Michael Perera

Sri Lanka's journalists under fire
But army spokesman Brig Udaya Nanayakkara said that the MP had nothing to substantiate his allegations.

"We have nothing to do with the attacks against journalists," he said. "If the MP has evidence, he must present it to the police."

The BBC's Roland Buerk says that there have been a series of abductions and assaults against journalists in Sri Lanka.

Our correspondent says that no-one has been brought to court for the attacks and there are accusations the government has been turning a blind eye, if not encouraging them.

Twelve journalists have been killed in Sri Lanka since August 2005, 11 of them in government-controlled areas.

In one of the most controversial incidents, a journalist and a senior official of the British High Commission were assaulted last week just days after the government set up a cabinet-level panel to prevent attacks on media personnel.

Lt Gen Fonseka hit the headlines in June when he said that the Tamil Tiger rebels had been defeated as a conventional force.

He said troops were advancing steadily into the rebel-held north and within a year the Tigers would lose large areas and their control over the population.

But he admitted a low-level insurgency could last indefinitely.

The general himself narrowly escaped death when a woman suicide bomber targeted him in April 2006 inside the high security army headquarters complex.

Sam,

I have not heard of this officer before, or some of the other ones are they Gonseka loyalists? Gonseka promoted many capable dedicated officers and equally punished those who refused to suck up to him (e.g. the whole Eastern command) he also promoted many lackeys. Many (capable or not) might feel they "owe" him something.

With regards to Lasantha.
I do not care about scum Lasantha's death.

What angers me is the way Gonseka is acting like some lily saint sleeping with the nations enemies now to settle scores after his earlier actions for which GR took the blame (Same with Keith Noyar from the Nation paper and MR having to beg for his release from Gonseak).

I remember how GR was hounded and attacked yet happily covered up and shielded what out of control Gonseka was doing in the name of unity of the nation and the war. Gonseka had free reign to do what he wanted, despite the consequences on the Government, kill who he wanted like some out of control "mad dog" (Gonsekas term used to describe MR in the link i gave).

Then this ungrateful scum has the audacity to attack GR (SundayLeader interview) and even plan to assassinate him.

Furthermore it is not just the betrayal by being with Ranil/Mangala etc, but his damning hypocrisy and the manner in which he is lying and twisting everything from the time of his resignation letter, SundayLeader interview -denials, acceptance and more denials- to how he lied about the fact he was not registered to vote. Not just one lie with that, but multiple ones, he blamed MR for it (see the interview he gave on youtube to that indian reporter), then transferred his assassination & coup plan onto MR.

Where is his integrity?

He is now going around calling MR Idi Amin, the name many including us gave Gonseka.

This is one thick skinned scum who will not rest till Sri Lanka burns.

He has learnt well from Mangala and the JPB how to rub better his vengeance and mad ego.

New Buddhist temples built by armed forces and militant monks mushroom in Tamil land occupied by Colombo, news reports from Eezham said, citing new constructions along A9 highway. Meanwhile, an extremist Buddhist monk with armed support has arrived at Thalai Mannaar Pier area, the nearest point opposite to the Indian coast, to buy 1000 acres of land and to start a Sinhala-Buddhist colony there, news sources from Mannaar said. While nearby Mullaiththeevu and Trincomalee of the Tamil north and east are never linked for ages, A3 highway in the western coast is going to be extended according to Colombo reports, linking Puththa’lam and Mannaar through Vilpattu forest to facilitate inroads of Sinhala colonies. In the meantime, India is learnt to have gifted to Sri Lanka a replica of Asoka’s rock edict speaking of his Buddhist emissary to the island.

Chaps, have you seen this wail from TamilNut plonkers? If this is true we need to support this patriotic priest to the hilt. There should be a private effort to raise funds for such a venture. Our nations founder Prince Vijaya landed near Mahathitha (Manthota or Mannar), and, according to the great chronicle, named the Island "Thambaparni", a name which entered into Ptolemy’s map of the ancient world. The rock edict No 13 of Asoka of 3rd century BCE speaks of sending his Buddhist emissaries to Thambaparni. A replica of this inscription has been recently donated to Sri Lanka by India and this edict in Prakrit language will be displayed with Sinhala and Tamil translations. Our most fertile land - the ‘Rice bowl’ is also located in this area with Yodha Wewa and many minor tanks already in place for irrigation. A low hanging fruit for re-colonization!

Cheers!

To my sheer surprise, I got info today from a very trustworthy and "connected" source (a source apolitical to the core) that this was not just another GOSL hype, BUT WAS SOMETHING VERY REAL.

Evidently the coup was designed to go along the lines of "this is least expected, so that is their weak point and our advantage" kind of philosophy.

They thought the GOSL's security establishment would not dream of a "coup" (given how super-sure they were of their security strength after defeating the LTTE bitches) and the intent was to go on a "surgical blitzkrieg" and before anyone could recover, viola, we would have had pro-west, pro-LTTE GOSL when the people woke up for election results on the 27th.

Of course, the "west" would have asked for "restraint" but nothing more if that had happened.

No, they (the west) would not have criticized the coup as they would have said it was the "peoples will" and nothing more (as the well orchestrated argument would have been that it was SF who was the winner anyway and it was MR who was going to rob him of his victory, so the "people" had to seize power) !!!

As such...

Its usually said that military can't take SL without Indian go ahead. As GSL (both ruling party and opposition) is usually in good terms with India 'coup not possible' was standard theory.

However, this coup is tricky one. They expected 49-51% result and planned to take over GSL if it was <50% claiming 'election rigging by MR' and declaring 'true winner is SF' and I guess they had understanding with US embassy. In such a case the military personal now under fire were supposed to back SF.

GSL probably knew this but obviously couldn't initiate action. They had to wait until they get 60%-. GSL-GR did right thing.

Yes, that is how it was going to be per the info I received from SL today.

Clue as to why this info has credibility: why do you think a high ranking US state dept. official would call on GOSL to "give protection to Gen. Fonseka" "restore Gen. Fonseka's 70-contingent military guard" etc. etc. ???

The problem with these cocky buggers is that they think they are the smartest beings on this planet (just because they have post-grad degrees from the Ivy League schools in the US? LMSSAO!!!)

In Iran not only Prez. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad saw through their plan, but even the conservative Muslim clerics saw through it and applied timely countermeasures!

Asithri,

Lasantha mutt and his kalu-suddha gang who looks down on those who do no come from their clique and are furious because for the next 7 years these Colombians will be out of power, forever a "pseudo-elite" with no influence or role the nations affairs (we should thank our stars and the ordinary far sighted people for that one). However it is very dangerous as well because these frustrated "born to rule" who believe the "inferior" masses duty is to "serve" them will keep running to their white masters to "retain" power here through various acts of treachery and initiation of interference as we have seen by Gonseka speeches.

It also shows how truly incompetent and uneducated they really are, always begging their suddha masters and needing their guidance, all those paper degrees and display of intelligence yet a few humble Sinhalas from the rural south backed by the Sinhala masses managed to out think and out smart them and bust all their "academic" theories.

We need a little "cleansing" of this lot if you ask me.

Anyway it is not surprising that Gonskea getting a taste of this "good life" (as he did with Blake offering him citizenship in Novemeber 2008) now wants to be fully fledged member. Just shows what type of man he is for any doubters. The rate he is lying shows what integrity he has. His recent actions have shown that he has betrayed the humble Sinhala to join the coterie of kalu-suddha Colombians who betrayed this land to European savagery in exchange for tea that spills from the side of suddhas saucer and cup.

To know what Gonseka is associating himself with fully, you need to look at Lasanthas post death editorial. True to form of his paper, his people and his kind they capitalised on his death. It is unsurprising that the white tards in Sri Lanka (embassies and out of it) loved Lasantha and his "Leader" publication (interesting name for a "elite" out of power) because he, Ranil and the rest are one of them after all just lacking the pigmentation. It lets you into their minds, see what they really think but do not say out loud (Aljerkoff is another great example). I find it stunning that they actually quote the editorial time and again as if he actually wrote it.

Now compare all this to GR, SS, PS, JJ, JD, Admiral WK (to name a few) and other patriotic sons of Lanka. None of them went around boasting. They hid in the corner away from the unwanted lime light and show biz style of glitter they so easily could have received (and I would say deserved) and got on with their work while a scum like Gonseka soaked it up and got "miss quoted".

But why does he need GR to answer, any Sinhala will tell you: its how we treat treacherous suddha lackeys like the BBC gona doing the interview.

BBC Sinhala service -Racist and vile against Sinhalese, quotes out of Tamilnet and SundayLeader. Never has anything good to say, not even cricket. Never mentions culture, history then again why would it? History is not a good subject for Tamil homOlandism.

Anonymous said...

SU,

I believe "Independence day" should be moved to May 18th and re-named Liberation day or "end of occupation day".

Our history did not begin 1948 or when suddha arrived

We spent the last 55 of the 62 years since 1948 ruled by suddhas via proxy in essence. An exchange of one set of master for another subservient to the previous. We spent the last 60 years trying to earn our rights and country and fought the war that was avoided in 1948 but necessary. Had we fought back then for what is ours in the 30s and 40s we in fact would not be in the mess we are today, the kalu-suddha class would not be an issue, Tamil racism would have been crushed, the level of interference we see from suddha would be non-existent.

This year February 4th does mean more, but it does not feel 100% real.

Deserters Spill the Beans on Election Day Coup Plot!

........
37 arrested over Sri Lanka President's assassination plot

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka police have arrested 37 suspects under Emergency Regulations over the alleged assassination attempt on President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family by supporters of the main opposition candidate Sarath Fonseka.

The arrested include a Brigadier, a Colonel, several Army deserters and four civilians. Another 23 army deserters, who were hiding in General Fonseka's office in Colombo, during the last week's search, have been arrested by the police.

The police also took General Fonseka's office equipments including 23 computers and four motor bikes into custody.

Two Tamil persons have been arrested in connection with supplying the arms found in a Buddhist temple, Bodhirukkaramaya, in Maligawatta. The Special Task Police arrested the monk of the temple, Uwathanne Sumana earlier before the election day.

The government says there were plans to assassinate the President and his family on their return to the President's residence following the Election Commissioner's announcement of the final results.

Defence sources say the arrested Army deserters arrested at the Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel, where General Fonseka checked into on the election day, have revealed a lot of information on the assassination bid.

More arrests are expected as more information becomes available during the ongoing investigations.

PRIYANTHA INTRODUCED HIMSELF TO MR AS HE´S ALSO IN THE SAME TRADE. AFTER THEY GOT BACK TO COLOMBO, PRIYANTHA WENT & MET MR AT HIS OFFICE. MR HELPED PRIYANTHA ON FISHERIES ACTIVITES AND BECAME CLOSE. AFTER BECOMING THE PRESIDENT IN 2005, MR APPOINTED PRIYANTHA AS CHAIRMAN OF LOTTERIES BOARD, WHERE PRIYANTHA COULDN´T SHOW MUCH PROFIT FOR THE GOVT´. THEN IMMEDIATELY MR REMOVED HIM FROM THAT POSITION & APPOINTED IN SOME OTHER DEPARTMENTS. LATER APPOINTED HIM AS CHAIRMAN OF MERCHANT BANK & DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE´S BANK. THEN PROMOTED HIM TO DIRECTOR GENERAL OF TRC. PRIYANTHA VISITS MR EVERYDAY AT TEMPLE TREES & MR GAVE HIS JEEP FOR PRIYANTHA´S USE FOR GOVT´ ACTIVITIES. AFTER TAKING ALL THE ADVANTAGES & BENEFITS FROM MR FOR MANY YEARS, PRIYANTHA FELL FOR UNP-SF´S WESTERN MONEY IN THIS 2010 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. PRIYANTHA FELL FOR MONEY WHEN UNP-SF CONTACTED HIM THROUGH HIS FRIENDS & PROMISED A BIG AMOUNT & PRIYANTHA STARTED WORKING AS A SPY. DAY TIME PRIYANTHA WORKS IN TEMPLE TREES & AT NIGHT WORKS WITH SF (GIVING TEMPLE TREES INFORMATION TO SF). ONE DAY (TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE ELECTIONS) WHEN PRIYANTHA WENT TO MEET SF (SARATH FONSEKA) AT HIS OFFICE (IN A DIFFERENT VEHICLE), SF´S FRIEND WHO IS ALSO MR´S FRIEND IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MR AND GAVE THE INFORMATION SAYING THAT PRIYANTHA IS WORKING AS A SPY. NEXT DAY WHEN PRIYANTHA WENT TO TEMPLE TREES, MR ASKED PRIYANTHA "WHY DID YOU GO TO SF´S OFFICE?". PRIYANTHA WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT MR GOT TO KNOW. PRIYANTHA´S ANSWER WAS "SIR I WENT TO SF´S OFFICE TO TELL HIM NOT TO CONTEST IN THIS ELECTION AGAINST YOU SIR". WHAT A LAME EXCUSE... SINCE THAT DAY, PRIYANTHA DIDN´T GO TO TEMPLE TREES AS HE CANNOT FACE MR FOR BETRAYING MR SO BADLY. PRIYANTHA TRIED TO PATCH UP THINGS WITH LAME EXCUSES, BUT NOTHING WORKED. FINALLY HE DECIDED TO RESIGN FROM HIS POSTS. (UNGRATEFUL PRIYANTHA JOINED UNGRATEFUL SF CAMP).

India on alert against LTTE attacks

Defence.lk
February 03, 2010

A security alert was declared on 28 Jan following the seizure of ammunition on the Tamil Nadu coast and the arrest of four Indian men who allegedly helped former LTTE cadres fleeing Sri Lanka to take shelter in India.

Also unearthed from prime accused Selvakumar alias Jeeva's property in Rameshwaram were Rs.800,000 in Indian currency and half a kilo of heroin valued at 100,000 dollars in the global market, official sources in India said.

Jeeva, who has a criminal past, told his interrogators that he transferred on his boat, a man and a woman from the LTTE from the mid sea on Dec 24 and brought them to Tamil Nadu. They were quietly transported inland in a car. The driver too has been arrested, reported Indo- Asian News Service (IANS).

According to the 39-year-old Jeeva, a fisherman by profession, he has no idea about the present whereabouts of the pair who he says brought all that was buried in his hideout.

These included 22 live rounds of 9mm ammunition and a Thuraya satellite telephone the like of which the LTTE used in large numbers as it went down fighting last year.

The admission stunned police and intelligence officials who are wondering why former LTTE fighters, if they were fleeing only for safety, would like to carry live ammunition and a satellite telephone with them, IANS stated.

Since the ammunition would be of no use without a weapon, the authorities are looking at the case - cracked following inputs from a central intelligence agency - seriously.

The others who have been taken into custody include Khaleel Rahman, 39, Pazhani Kumar, Jeeva's 35-year-old cousin brother, and Raju, the car driver who is 25-years-old. The arrests took place on Tuesday.

Jeeva claimed that the money found in his hideout was what he had earned for smuggling sea cucumber, a delicacy, from Tamil Nadu to Sri Lanka. Fishing and trading in sea cucumber is banned in India.

Police and intelligence sources say Jeeva's confessions present a larger danger amid continuing heated attacks on the Indian government and some of its key functionaries by people associated with the LTTE, reported IANS.

We must DESTROY and TOTALLY UPROOT Anti-National NGOs and iNGOs from Sri Lanka as a matter of the HIGHEST PRIORITY for maintaining a stable society immune to "Regime Change" engineered by foreign forces.

'Tony Blair lied and misled Parliament'

Rosa Prince
February 02, 2010

LONDON: Giving evidence before the Chilcot Committee into the war, she repeatedly accused the former prime minister of personally “misleading” and “conning” her, and of being “deceitful” with Cabinet, Parliament, and the public.

Miss Short claimed that Mr Blair broke the ministerial code by misleading Parliament, and accused Lord Goldsmith, the former attorney general who gave the “green light” to war, of failing to tell the Cabinet the truth of his reservations about the legality of an invasion.

“I think he misled the Cabinet,” she said. “He certainly misled me. I think for the Attorney General to come and say there's unequivocal legal authority to go war was misleading."

When she tried to ask questions in Cabinet, Miss Short was “jeered” at, and Mr Blair told her to “be quiet”.

By then, Miss Short said, Cabinet government had broken down, and ministers were reduced to having “little chats.” She rejected a claim by the ex-prime minister, who gave evidence last week, that “substantive” discussions had taken place, or a formal Cabinet “endorsement” given for the war.

Miss Short disclosed that after deciding to quit in protest at the failure to secure UN support for the invasion, she had booked time with the Speaker of the House of Commons to deliver a resignation statement to Parliament.

But before she could resign, she was talked round by Mr Blair, who did not want her to quit on the same day as the late Robin Cook, the then-Leader of the House.

Two months later, she claimed, she realised that she had been “conned” by Mr Blair, who had assured her that he had persuaded United States President George W Bush to make progress on the Palestine issue, and involve the United Nations in post-conflict planning.

The left-wing MP eventually resigned in May 2003, two months after the invasion, in protest at a “feeble” UN resolution approving aid for Iraq secured by the British and Americans.

Nine months earlier, during a visit to Mozambique, Miss Short said that Mr Blair had “misled” her by denying that he had made preparations for war in Iraq. In fact, the inquiry has heard, he had already held talks with advisers in July of that year.

She said: "He told me in Mozambique 'I haven't had a presentation, I will come back to you, don't worry.' Clearly that was one of the many misleading things that were said."

Later, once the decision had been taken to stop seeking a fresh UN mandate for the war, Miss Short said that the then-prime minister and his advisers put the word out that the French had been planning to veto any resolution.

She added: "That was in my view a lie, a deliberate lie. It was one of the big deceits."

"Christian Science Monitor? "

Why are they so obsessed with Sri Lanka and Myanmar, two non-Christian countries? Simple: These evangelical criminals are desperate to get into Myanmar, 40 million impoverished people, all Buddhist. Excellent grounds for more converts and "showing light" to the heathens.

They have been busy harvesting souls in Haiti, and had been to work in Korea which in the 50s was 80% Buddhist, today 60% evangelical Christian with Buddhists being persecuted and hunted down, and made as pariahs (who deserve "serious treatment" as described in some South Korean media if they refuse to "see the light").

When Ranil was in power Churches popped up in places even the Portuguese did not go.

FACTBOX-Five political risks to watch in Sri Lanka

By Shihar Aneez and Bryson Hull
Reuters-UK
February 03, 2010

COLOMBO, Feb 3 (Reuters) - Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa won a landslide re-election on Jan. 26, putting him firmly in charge of the Indian Ocean island nation he led to victory in a quarter-century war in May.

Following is a summary of key risks to watch in Sri Lanka:

* POLITICS

Rajapaksa is proceeding full speed ahead toward parliamentary elections due before April. After he won by a margin of 18 percent over opposition candidate General Sarath Fonseka, the opposition is fractured, demoralised and threatening protests over what it calls a stolen election. Few expect the opposition, a collection of diverse parties that unified only for the purpose of beating Rajapaksa, to succeed in challenging the result nor to stick together at the parliamentary poll. Rajapaksa is aiming to get a two-thirds majority in parliament that would give him a free hand to change the constitution to his liking and trim a cabinet of more than 100 ministers to a more manageable number.

What to watch:

- Whether Rajpaksa can secure two-thirds majority. This would be broadly positive for markets because it would allow decisive policymaking. He is likely to make overtures to some opposition parties to secure this.

- The types of parties Rajapaksa keeps in his rejigged coalition, should he win. That will to a large degree show the types of policies he will follow.

- How the government deals with a coup plot it says Fonseka's supporters tried to hatch, or any large protests that materialise. If it acts with too heavy a hand, it risks some backlash at home, plus further damage to international ties.

* FISCAL REFORM AND MANAGEMENT

Although foreign direct investment into Sri Lanka has picked up now the war is over, investors say there are plenty of reforms that need to be made on both the macro- and microeconomic levels -- in particular reducing the corporate tax rate and the bureaucracy for starting a business -- before it starts to gather steam. Sri Lanka has vowed to bring down its budget deficit to 6 percent in 2010 under targets specified in a $2.6 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan.

What to watch:

-- Any sign of an erosion in fiscal discipline. Credit rating agencies say adherence to the IMF plan is crucial for international investor confidence in Sri Lanka.

-- Progress in efforts to raise revenue collection or rein in public-sector spending. Rajapaksa pledged pay raises to public employees during the election. How he pays for this will be a good indicator of what tack his government will take.

-- The official full-year 2009 budget deficit numbers. They will be the first big measure of how well Sri Lanka is doing against IMF targets.

FACTBOX-Five political risks to watch in Sri Lanka

......continued.......
* THE RUPEE CURRENCY AND INFLATION

Under Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, inflation has fallen from more than 28 percent in 2008 to single digits. He expects it to stay there for the rest of the year. But it has been rising for five straight months and hit 6.5 percent in January. The governor says he is willing to tighten monetary policy to keep it in check, after loosening policy last year to spur private-sector credit growth. Cabraal has also said he expects to revoke most of Sri Lanka's strict currency controls to spur investment and allow the rupee .LKR to float more freely, but appeared to back off during the election.

-- Any monetary tightening, and the corresponding reaction of both the inflation rate and the rate of credit growth. Both will give a clearer picture of overall economic health.

-- Any move to relax the currency controls, and the subsequent reaction of the rupee's exchange rate.

* INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

Western countries, and groups in the Tamil diaspora, are pressing for some kind of accountability for thousands of civilian deaths at the end of the war. Sri Lanka is adamant its soldiers did not violate international law, and that for now has cost it enhanced European Union trade preferences known as GSP+ worth $100 million a year. However, Sri Lanka's willingness to turn to countries like China and Iran appears to have prompted the West to take a softer line. India remains a steadfast ally, and its influence is likely to help that trend continue.

What to watch:

-- Whether Sri Lanka can reach a deal with EU to get GSP+ back. The reinstatement of the trade concession would help Sri Lanka's garment industry, its top foreign exchange earner.

-- The extent of Western redevelopment aid, versus that from India and China, largest donors since the end of the war so far.

* TAMIL RELATIONS

The government says 70 percent of more than 280,000 internally displaced people who fled the end of the war against the Tamil Tigers have been relocated from the main refugee camps, but most are still in transit facilities while de-mining work is being completed. This has done nothing to help smooth over the strained relations between the Tamil minority, and the Sinhalese majority to which Rajapaksa belongs. Those were the root of the conflict the Tamil Tigers waged for three decades.

Key issues to watch:

-- Concrete steps Rajapaksa takes to address Tamil political demands, something he said he would do after elections were over.

-- The tack taken by Tamil parties, who now lack a cohesive plan and have softened their approach since the war's end.

All this nonsense because STILL Tamilia is dominant in the North and East. They will never be satisfied and will only feel "equal" when they dominate Sinhalese.

South is over populated. Once recolonisation begins or is done that will as Moshe says frustrate Tamilia and make Tamilia problems die down because they will see it is hopeless. So long as they "have" the North and East they can threaten us and squeeze out concessions. Why is the leadership blind to this? Why are many Sinhalese also equally blind and obsessed with "not hurting Tamil feelings".

EC refutes malpractices during polls February 3, 2010 11:22 am
Elections Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayaka today refuted allegations of malpractices during the course of Presidential polls. He also added that there were no incidents to nullify any results.

Dissanayake further went on to say that no one had threatened him at gunpoint as rumoured by some to manipulate the results.

Dissanayake also added that he will not resign as reported earlier and will stay on as the Elections Commissioner until the General Election which slotted to be held this year.

ADa Derana

SF can easily explain this using SFism.

Disanayaka has been taken hostage by the Government in a way that still he can freely walk and talk and even Disanayak is not aware that he is taken hostage and still feels he is at his usual place.

Then since Disanayaka does not know that he has taken hostage it proves that he he has been taken hostage as in the previously described manner.

Feb 03, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake today rejected the allegations of malpractices during the presidential elections and said that he has decided to continue in service and not resign as earlier planned.

The Commissioner announced his decision this morning at a media conference held at the Election Secretariat. He said he decided to stay until the General Election to be held some time this year following the appeals by the Opposition and his staff.

Dissanayake, refuting the rumors that he was threatened at gun point to manipulate the election results, said there were no complaints or irregularities to nullify the election results.

The Commissioner said he will investigate the opposition's claims that some 64 ballot papers marked in favor of the opposition candidate were found dumped in Anuradhapura and take appropriate action if the allegations are true.

Lanka Page

By SFism it proves that Disanayaka (Mr.) has been thretened at gun point in a manner that Mr. Disanayak never becomes aware of.

So this proves that vote is rigged by MR. Disanayak since he was threatened at gun point. SFism at its best.

Isnt it ironic that tamils who have colonised Toronto, London, Melbourne, Oslo, Paris etc... and ceated their own ghettos, and not integrated to the local communities are crying 'colonisation' in Sri Lanka when sri lankans with whom they can easily get along come to live in the north and east... And tamilnet a website funded by those who have earned money from abroad is crying out loud...

dissapeared when SF came as the opposition leader.

This was your last comment.
DefenceWire, as an impartial site whose work you have witnessed for over 3 years now wish to appeal to our readers to refrain from joining or supporting either 'camps' and to allow the professional soldier and professional politicians to resolve potentially resolvable issues mentioned above.

Now you appear after SFs election loss. And now you are writing against him. Why is that?

Is it bcoz I is Tamil...?

I am privileged to be part of a generation who has lived rather a long time in the pre-LTTE Sri Lanka (Ceylon). We went about anywhere we liked in our PukkaLand without having to carry ID cards, being stopped at check points, etc. We also lived side-by-side with Sri Lankans (Ceylonese) of all different races and religions without ever thinking anything of it. Things have changed indeed over the years and we have what we have today.

If you are unfortunate enough to lose a loved one from cancer or similar decease which deforms the visage of that person, you would rather not see them in that condition because you would want to remember them as they were in times of good health. I too like to remember PukkaLand the way she was in the “good ol’ days”.

Allow me to jot down a few thoughts here, which you may agree or otherwise.

REW<<<< to pre 1983 Sri Lanka.

Among the ethnic minority groups in Sri Lanka, Tamils used to be around 12%, the largest. However it was well known and accepted that the representation of Tamils in civil service, public & private sector establishments was disproportionately higher. The same was true within universities where Tamil students would make up over 40%. Reasons were many for these lopsided statistics, ranging from divide and rule policy and favouritism of minorities displayed by the suddha (white colonial rulers), to Tamil A/L exam papers being marked by ethnic Tamils - Sinhalese were too lazy or proud to learn Tamil, a minority language.

The majority Sinhalese did protest from time to time, mostly under provocation by various centre-right, nationalistic and/or purely opportunistic political/religious movements. Tamil people did suffer for short bursts as a result but there is no denying that in Sri Lanka Tamil people were a PRIVILEGED minority, enjoying privileges even larger minority groups did not enjoy in other parts of the world.

Tamil people enjoyed privileges such as “Thesavalamai Law”, exclusive business opportunities in prominent parts of the country (Wellawatte, Sea Street, etc.) and were able to own land/property anywhere within the 25,332 square miles of the small island nation. The majority Sinhalese did not enjoy some such.

The suffering of Sri Lankans was mostly due to corrupt, self-seeking, incompetent and autocratic rulers who (mis)governed our nation since suddha left in 1948. The point I am making is that ALL Sri Lankans suffered one way or the other as a result. The corruption and discrimination affected ALL Sri Lankans regardless of their ethnicity. The have’s had one set of rules while the have not’s had another (still this is the same).

The Tamil people however, being a minority, could play the “race” card. They claimed they are being treated like this because they are Tamils. The Sinhalese could not make such a claim for obvious reasons. I think the Tamil people became too greedy and wanted even a bigger bite of the pie instead of recognising their true privileges and being satisfied. This gave birth to the LTTE (Tamil separatism) and the rest, as they say, is history.

FFD>>>>to post May 2009.

What has happened to the Tamil minority now? It has dwindled down to 6%. One cannot blame any self-respecting nation if they would NOT go out of their way to offer special privileges to such a small minority except all peoples are treated equally, for better or for worse. Unfortunately in Sri Lanka we are all treated equally badly, unless of course you belong to a group who operate above the rules applicable to the average Sri Lankan.

In conclusion, my final point is that the LTTE and other Tamil separatist movements have spoilt it all for the once privileged Tamil minority in Sri Lanka. It would take a very long time indeed for the Tamil people to regain the favourable position they had in pre-1983 Sri Lanka. Sad.

[the truth about evangelical hunting]

Even non evangelical Americans are worried about evangelicals.

They see the opportunity

1) Destroy Buddhism
2) Increase market share

in Sri Lanka.

However (1) is being done by so called Sinhalese Buddhists and you can meet some of them here as well.

Market share can be increased since the poor economic condition prevails. Also, years of practicing dogma and god worshiping to better their lives by Buddhist communities have made it easy to transform that to another living god and therefore real benefit in this life.

Even if Sinhalese Buddhists are against evangelicals, they can't do a darn thing about it.

That is because they are running by own stupidity and arrogance than wisdom.

I challenge people to write down three things they can do to stop evangelicals without using cultural white vans and force.

What makes you a Buddhist (if you are one)?

The fact that it is on your birth certificate doesn't count.

In prev discussions of DW I once said taht we shud consider Fatpig as a savior. He rescued us from eminant tamil control. If not for pussycats, we have a strong tamil vote base, probably another 2 millions. And see how effective it is in a prez election. Plus they will have ~45 seats in pref voting in parliament. Imagine who will decide the policies of SL.

And on top of this SL will have a ceremonial military with free and easy boat rides from TN to North every now and then.

The hatred and vengeance of tamil diaspora and the dogma of fatpig destroyed their control of SL. What remains today? Weakest and poorest 6% of SL population.

Totally fabricated coup designed to create a public opinion to purge Fonseka from public life forever, which also reinforces our argument about the lion laying in with the jackals/pigs and losing its credibility by becoming a half-breed. Our estimate is that the government, which is also made up of some cunning jackals, will eventually get Fonseka to commit a mistake (or capitalize on one he has made already, like the statement he made to Frederica Janz) and lap him up using the long arm of the 'law'.]

pol and TTBO,

govt is lagging behind badly. it is happening ON A LAND NEEDS BASIS ONLY. this is not at all enough.

agree with TTBO that for SOME unknown reason they are LESS integrated with others even in toronto, london, sydney, singapore, malaysia, even in india!!!

SL's future CANNOT depend on the level of tamil ppl's integration with others. if we wait for that we will be waiting forever. expecting a good response, we should do the physical enabler of ethnic integration - colonization.

to integrate, first you should have some community to integrate with!!! pen pal "ethnic integration" won't work.

the other danger is, if we don't colonize the north east, tamil nadu will colonize it as they have done in the past 795 years. as you know SLs didn't sufficiently colonize the north and the east after kalinga magha's attack in 1215.

LankaPade said...

MD says

[the other danger is, if we don't colonize the north east, tamil nadu will colonize it as they have done in the past 795 years.]

One way to counter that is to create an agency for SL Tamils to migrate to the west. Specially in Canada, you can migrate easily if you have blood relatives.

It will be the win-win situation for everyone.

LankaPade said...

If there are large open areas in NE, SLG can create industrial/agricultural centers and colonize people based on national ethnic composition.

You can do the same in South as well. Bring some Tamils from NE and settle them there.

Let's don't call them integration. Let's call them national harmony or something.

There are two alleged coups(when he was the army commander and on the PE day) and DW only denies one, so DW denies only the one on when he was the army commander?

Government don't need to purge Fonseka, general public has already purged Fonseka.

Independence Day will be officially celebrated in Kandy tomorrow. Jackson Anthony gave a nice explanation on this. This is the first real Independence celebration after 1815. And it was finally from Kandy that we lost it in 1815. Tomorrow we start our Independence celebrations from Kandy itself.
