Arrested! Fonseka's Follies Finally Earn Him Legal Retribution

No Sri Lankan Patriot wanted it to come to this, but Gen. Sarath Fonseka had not learned this basic principle of survival: When immersed nose deep in mud, the wise keep their mouths closed!

Gen. Fonseka will have the time to ponder this truism, as he contemplates the errors of judgment that led to his precipitous fall from grace from being, perhaps, the third most admired man in Sri Lanka to one of the most vilified, in a brief period of nine months. World history abounds with such instances of foolish men of unbounded ambition destroying themselves when they loosen their grasp on honor, duty and patriotism.

Colombopage had this to say today (February 08, 2010) about Gen. Fonseka's arrest:

General Fonseka has been arrested on charges of committing military offenses during his time in the Army," the newly appointed military spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe said in an official statement to the Government Media Unit. He did not elaborate on the specific offenses.

Director General of the Media Centre for National Security, Lakshman Hulugalle, said Fonseka would face charges in a military court of conspiracy against the government.

.....

The government has accused General Fonseka of plotting to assassinate the President and overthrow the government by a coup. The government has arrested over 50 of his loyal retired military officers on planning the coup. General Fonseka denies all government's accusations against him.

However, a BBC report said earlier in the day the General had threatened to divulge the military secrets in response to alleged war crimes against the Sri Lankan military during the final phase of the war against the LTTE.

.....

Early in his presidential campaign in an interview to a Sunday weekly, the opposition candidate accused the Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa of ordering the Army's 58 Division leader to kill the senior LTTE cadres who were attempting to surrender with white flags.

He later retracted the statement saying the paper misquoted him but the government and the media said the retired commander betrayed the nations and the damage to the country and the military had been done by the General's statement for political gain.

According to The Asian Tribune the main charges, read out to Gen. Fonseka at the time of his arrest, were

• Politicking whilst in uniform,

• Conspiring against the Commander-in-Chief whilst in Service,

• Harboring more than 1,500 deserters whilst on Service,

• And, corrupt practices in relating to military procurements.

We trust that the Government has all of the necessary evidence to support these charges, and that they will promptly release him if the evidence available cannot stand up to legal scrutiny. However, what we know of Gen. Fonseka's activities to date since the end of the Eelam War in May, 2009, as reported in the press and elsewhere, leads us to believe that Gen. Fonseka will be convicted in a court of law, and will spend a significant portion of his life behind bars.

We take no joy in the downfall of one we considered a war-hero, but we firmly believe that those who betray their country by deed and word for ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, must be held ACCOUNTABLE, if only to serve as an example to deter others from VIOLATING the Law of the Land, and UNDERMINING the National Security of the Motherland.

Let ALL those who conspire to betray the Motherland, and violate Sri Lanka's laws with impunity take note: You will no longer will be allowed to run free; you will be held accountable for your actions! You can RUN, but you will not be able to HIDE! Therefore, CEASE and DESIST, in your own interest.

Seeems like Iran Style protests are on for arresting SF instead of election results. Also there is massive campaign on Facebook as well.

Rasika,

These are not "Iran style protests", just retard JVPs spreading violence, SK predicted this. Nothing much will come out of it. Just one politically non-entity (JVP/Colombians) trying hard to survive off of another political non-entity (Gonseka).

Just watch the campaign slogan of the GE for the opposition, it is going to switch from "change" into "free Gonseka". This too will fail.

As for the Facebook group that’s another good laugh. It is being spearheaded by the same people who wanted to jail Fonseka for "war crimes" now wanting him freed.

Also the same set of tards who went around saying "if he's guilty arrest him" are now screaming "release him".

MD and SU thanks for commenting on my analysis.

MD I agree that SF's thug assets can be a advantage for the UNP, but we have to remember that can be a double edges sward, those thugs can turn on UNPers who are against SF as well. As SF has no long history or attachemnt to UNP, there is a real possibility of that happening and pushing the party in to total mayhem.
----------------------------------
SU, I think the governments case has a better chance of being accepted by the people as the people who are crying for Fonseka now are the people who tried to hang them one time, so the people question their genuineness.

Sri Lanka will learn lessons the hard way. During war politics and practices won't work after the war if you want to join IC community.

Well I hold the most important news for a later comment.

That is government has already consulted some expert Chinese hackers (some of our own guys are learning tricks from those Chinese guys to be self sufficient) on this matter and they've already started there work.
So Facebook and Blogger protesters be careful!
Same applies to my dear friend who is behind Parrots of Pakisland.
They may already have your address and pay you a white van visit in near future!
If they pay you a white van visit we may miss our regular entertainment so much !
So be careful my dear friend we don't like to miss you/our regular entertainment here !

Would anyone care to explain what these Fonseka protests are about?

The man was arrested for engaging in politics while in uniform, accepting funds from known LTTE fronts and harbouring army deserters. All three are crimes punishable by stiff prison terms. He was manhandled because he resisted arrest.

In a country where there is rule of law, anyone who engages in same activities as Fonseka would have been meted the very same treatment.

So, do these protesters want Fonseka released, without trial and without punishment, just because they support him? If so, what about law of the land? Do they want to build a culture of impunity?

Thusitha said...

Who ever is running the government must make sure there aren't any death in these streets protests. Otherwise there would be a huge black mark in government if street protests leads to death and violence. I think this is what JVP, UNP is trying to achieve. To make sure some innocent people dies in a street protest.

If we are using police to manage this stuff, very loyal police officers must be used at all time.

Also some news articles talks about death penalty, and before this type of BS spreads, government should inform the public there is no slightest chance of such a thing.

There would be a big attempt to bring SL to a situation like in SL

What do you mean a build a culture of impunity. Where have you been living all your life. There is nothing to build, we all ready have one.
Anyway how did the SF to president campaign go?

@Thusitha

Government can prohibit street protests under emergency law I guess.

Those so-called protesters are the ones who really don't want SF to be released in the bottom of their heart since they would lose their main GE slogan in such case.

NFF leader says Sri Lanka Marxist party secretary provided clues to arrest General Fonseka

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Feb 10, Colombo: The leader of the breakaway Marxist party National Freedom Front Wimal Weerawansa says theGeneral Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Tilvyn Silva presented the first reason that led to the arrest of the opposition candidate General Sarath Fonseka.

Addressing a media briefing today at the headquarters of the NFF this morning, Weerawansa said that General Fonseka has revealed that he dealt with political parties while he was holding a senior Army position.

NFF leader said the General has openly stated that he consulted General Secretary of the JVP Tylvin Silva when he was touring the USA in early November 2009 before his retirement from the Army as the Chief of Defence Staff.

Fonseka is charged with violating the military law by conducting and sharing deals with political parties against the Government while being a prominent member of the Security Council, the highest body which deals with the most secret national security decisions.

Weerawansa further said the Army Commander General Sarath Fonseka has openly said he is ready to give evidences to the International Criminal Court on War Crimes against the troops he led during the war to appease the international forces against the government.

Military Police have already collected a great deal of evidences against the general, he said adding that a UNP parliamentarian has also given a statement to the Military Police about Fonseka's offences.

My Comment at The Economist:

OldThomian said "Unfortunately for the Brothers, there’s a fly in the ointment- lack of proof!"

Au Contraire, my dear OldThomian, evidence against Gen. Fonseka exists in spades, presenting the Govt of Sri Lanka with the happy dilemma of choosing only the best to pursue.

For example, even those who are not privy to the details of the other charges can appreciate that harboring deserters and employing them without reporting them to the authorities is a criminal offense in Sri Lanka. Gen. Fonseka is guilty of over 1,000 counts of this crime, and can be given a VERY LONG VACATION behind bars on that charge alone.

After all, my dear OldThomian, he was the Army Chief, and later the Chief of Defense Forces, responsible for ENFORCING Military Justice .. he should know! Talk about the FOX looking after the CHICKENS!

5) Those who voted for MR were scared and did it out of force
6) Arresting Gonseka is now an "abduction".
7) Economic development is all lies and only the BoC is benefiting.
8) MR is hated and people are afraid of him.
9) Charges against Gonseka are all lies and bogus made by MR because he is afraid of Gonseka challenging PE and taking part in GE
10) West really hoped for Fonseka win/50:50 “close” race.
12) First time there had been protests against an election (yeah right first one was in the 50s and the this one was organised by this gona).

LTTE minority (<1% of population, <10% support base) ruined 100% population for 30 years. JVP minority (<1%, <5% support base) ruined 100% two times. Do we need this sort of "democracy" ?

My Comment at The Economist

My dear Sinna Sithar,

Trying to divide and rule now by stirring up caste (Govigama Vs Karawa!) as the bone of contention, now that all else has failed?

You are treading the same path as the LTTE supporters of the Tamil Diaspora before you. They stirred up every ethnic, religious, linguistic and caste issue they could in their now defunct virtualized quest for a Eelam in Sri Lanka. They did so with such single-minded passion, that long ago I penned another "dismal parody" to define it's essence. With apologies to Shakespeare, here it is:

THE EELAM WITCHES BREW!

Round about the cauldron go;
In the poisonous ingredients throw.
Gullible men illiterate and poor;
Depend on us, poor fools..they endure.
Sweated venom of RACE we got;
Boil thou first in the charmed pot.
Double, double, toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble!

Fillets of a high and low CASTE snake,
In the cauldron boil and bake.
Head of Brahmin and entrails of Dalit;
Hearts Aryan and Dravidian shall fit.
Eye of Hindu and Moslem for RELIGION we take;
Tongue of Tamil and Sinhala for LANGUAGE sake.
Double, double, toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble!

For charm of political demons we make,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble.
Add thereto a TAMIL TIGER's chaudron,
For ingredients of our COMMUNAL cauldron.
Double, double, toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble!

My Comment at The Economist

..............
Nirvana_bound says,

"While the rest of the world may have hoped for benevolence & compassion from the victorious Rajapakse, was it a realistic expectation & hope on our part?"

I suppose you want the Government of Sri Lanka, elected by the free will of the people of Sri Lanka, to stand by idly while an unprincipled man with thuggish attitudes towards his opponents rejects the will of the People expressed in the Presidential Election, sets about intimidating people, engaging in illegal activities, and conspiring to topple the Government?

Many of his illegal activities were undertaken while he was still wearing the uniform of a Commanding Officer of the Armed Forces.

When US President Harry S. Truman was confronted and challenged politically by the enormously popular Gen. Douglas Macarthur in the midst of the Korean War, he was summarily dismissed from service by Truman. General Ridgeway, MacArthur's subordinate who replaced him, while praising MacArthur's brilliance as a military commander also added ..

"...the hunger for praise that led him on some occasions to claim or accept credit for deeds he had not performed, or to disclaim responsibility for mistakes that were clearly his own; the love of the limelight that continually prompted him to pose before the public as the actual commander on the spot...his tendency to cultivate the isolation that genius seems to require, until it became a sort of insulation...that deprived him of the critical comment and objective appraisals a commander needs...; the headstrong quality...that sometimes led him to persist in a cause in defiance of all logic; [and] a faith in his own judgment that created an aura of infallibility and that finally led him close to insubordination ..."

While Fonseka's character does not rise upto MacArthur's, Ridgeway's statement should ring a bell in our collective mind about a principal flaw we all detected in Fonseka: unbounded ambition and ego.

The American people, to their eternal credit, ultimately supported the principle that no serving officer should engage in politics while serving in the Military, and not only stopped supporting Macarthur, but turned away from him completely, consigning him to political obscurity. I quote from Wikipedia.org

"On his return from Korea, after his relief by Truman, MacArthur encountered massive public adulation, which aroused expectations that he would run for the presidency as a Republican in the 1952 election. However, a U.S. Senate Committee investigation of his removal (which largely vindicated the actions taken by President Truman), chaired by Democrat Richard Russell, contributed to a marked cooling of the public mood, and hopes for a MacArthur presidential run died away. MacArthur, in Reminiscences, repeatedly stated he had no political aspirations."

Why then, should we criticize President Mahinda Rajapaksa for upholding the same principle as US President Harry Truman did, with far greater provocation and cause?

Sri Lanka is today still paying the hefty price for defeating the heinous LTTE terrorists and this "Sarath Fonseka" saga is just a continuation of it. The pro-LTTE powers in the west wanted Mahinda Rajapakse to stop the war and go for another round of "peace talks" with the LTTE (that they would not dare to dream of having with Bin Laden's Al-Queida) and when Sri Lanka said "NO, enough is enough and it it time to defeat TERRORISM" the white masters in the west got annoyed and this is the vile, insidious machination of them that we see today in Sri Lanka. Sarath F was encouraged to embrace the pro-LTTE entities (such as Mano Ganeshan, Tamil National Alliance, etc.) by these white masters and as he was power-hungry, they found a willing and non-questioning sucker in him. Well, the rest is immediate history and what you see on SL streets today. I sincerely hope this populist, staunchly anti-LTTE Mahinda R govt of Sri Lanka will prevail steadfastly in the face of these relentless attacks from many quarters to bring back the LTTE TERORISM in Sri Lanka.

One other note...one might ask why are these white masters in the west so desirous of bringing back LTTE TERRORISM in Sri Lanka? The answer is very simple. Most these white masters in the west are in constituencies that have huge pro-LTTE Tamil populations (of which only a tiny fraction of Tamils are genuine refugees and the rest are virtually bogus, "economic refugees" who gleefully lapped up the gullibility of the west, to the maximum) who have supported these white masters with a reciprocal agreement that went along the lines of "we vote for you, and you bat for us on the anti-SL wicket." Additionally, it is no secret that even the most prominent INGOs have been bought over by handsome dispensations from the the vast LTTE coffers (estimated to still hold over U$4Billion; fattened by crimes in the west such as banking frauds, extortion of Tamils, drug peddling, etc.) so it is not surprising that these INGOs would also go on a witch-hunt against Sri Lanka when there are more pressing hot spots on the globe that better deserve their attention.

Wests direct silence over Gonseka's arrest is intriguing. They have clearly sub contracted all that to their local lackeys here (just as they did with the LTTE). I assume they are worried that Gonseka might divulge information of their involvement, hence the attempt to "drown" it out with all the bogus protests + "demands" for his release.

If their local lackeys start to fail we will see them getting directly involved as we did after Killinochichi was captured.

Moshe Dyan said...

guys,

the following is from toiletnet. carefully note what the fcuk they say.

LTTE terrorists' plan is this.

"Some of the fundamentals of the political task are

1. laying strong secular foundation for the unity of all Tamil speaking people,

2. shifting Tamil capital away from Colombo and developing genuine democratic institutions for our own social health and

3. to resist colonizers and their abetters."

in simple terms, LTTE terrorists' plan is this.

1. group ppl into "tamil speaking"

2. racist devolution. power sharing based on racism.

3. stop colonization.

these have DEEP meanings. #3 is straightforward.

#1 - as time passed, MOST up country tamils, MOST muslims and close to 50% north east tamils have become fluent in sinhala.

LTTE terrorists know if this continues, tamil elam, LTTE and racism are ALL stuffed.

so they want to promote "tamil speaking ppl" as a seperate group.

SL should NOT teach sinhala kids tamil unless voluntarily chosen to by these kids. the danger is not them. IF this happens the trend of tamils and muslims learning sinhala stops. there would be no need to. when 2 ppl meet they need only ONE language to communicate not 2 or 3.

#2 - there is no "tamil capital"

what they want is to grab the SL power that rules north east by cunning means. devolution, political solution, etc. are the BS names given to this grab.

#3 - surely this is further proof that recolonization is a MUST.

Old school politeness aside, we argue about matters of life and death for ALL of our people in Sri Lanka .. knowing full well who spawned the violence in Sri Lanka that killed over 100,000 people and brought our Nation to the brink of partition, and what forces are at work today to resurrect that anarchy in Sri Lanka.

Just reflect upon the price in blood and treasure that the US paid, nearly 150 years ago, under President Abraham Lincoln's leadership to keep the country whole in the US Civil War, and the prosperity and prestige the US enjoys today as a result of their sacrifice, and you will know what we Sri Lankan Patriots are fighting for:

ONE Nation INDIVISIBLE,
ONE People INDOMITABLE,
ONE Destiny INSEPARABLE!

Also, know this: What yielded a LANDSLIDE victory in the Presidential Election for President Mahinda Rajapaksa, when all western pundits were predicting a "tight race", was the Patriotism that is sweeping Sri Lanka today creating a paradigm shift in the way the vast majority of ordinary Sri Lankans think.

Many who don't understand this pontificate on the internet, laughing at Patriotism that binds us together, completely unaware of the pulse of the people of Sri Lanka, it's silent majority.

You will be reminded of that again on April 8, 2010 when the UPFA surges to yet another LANDSLIDE victory for the Patriotic National Forces of Sri Lanka that yearn for the day when their Motherland becomes the "New Wonder of Asia."

this is even truer for thrid world countries.

SOME IDIOTS will learn another thrid world language whereas the cunning ppl (or clever ones) will INSTEAD put their valuable time and effort to learn ENGLISH!!! or french or chinese.

A fresh bid to accommodate JVP in UNP-led alliance

An influential section wants to prevent split in Opp. Alliance

By Shamindra Ferdinando
Island.lk
February 11, 2010

In the wake of Monday’s arrest of defeated Opposition presidential candidate, General (retd) Sarath Fonseka on conspiracy charges, the SLMC and the Western People’s Front (WPF) are vigorously pushing for an electoral pact, which can accommodate the JVP. They are of the opinion that the political alliance, which backed the former Army Chief at the recently concluded presidential polls should remain intact to meet the Rajapaksas’ challenge.

Political sources said that SLMC leader Rauf Hakeem, MP, and WPF MP, Mano Ganeshan, had told major players that a split in their alliance would be disadvantageous to them. Sources told The Island that the UNP had said that they would not compromise its decision to field candidates on the UNF (United National Front) ticket or give up the ‘elephant’ symbol. Sources said that as the UNF had not being recognised by Election Commissioner Dayananda Dissanayake, the UNF wouldn’t be on the ballot paper. Instead, candidates would be voting for the UNP and the ‘elephant’ symbol, sources said.

Sources said that Tissa Attanayake, General Secretary of the UNP, would be responsible for handling nominations of all political parties contesting the parliamentary polls.

Sources acknowledged that the JVP wouldn’t find it easy to vote for the ‘elephant’ symbol. On the other hand, the JVP faces an uphill task of securing at least a few seats on its own at the next Parliament. At the last parliamentary election, the UNP secured 39 seats, including three National List slots.

Responding to our queries, a politician close to the on-going negotiations told The Island that the National Democratic Front (NDF), through which Fonseka had contested the January 26 presidential polls would not be available for the Opposition at the coming national election. The UNP wouldn’t want to allow a section of the Opposition (Fonseka-JVP combine) to use the ‘Swan’ symbol as it could undermine its overall strategy, sources said.

The Military Police swooped down on Fonseka in the aftermath of a crucial meeting the former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) had with Mangala Samaraweera, MP at his Rajakeeya Mawatha office, where they discussed ways and means of sorting out contentious issues, sources said. UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe is believed to have requested Samaraweera to explore the possibility of having Fonseka to contest the polls on the UNF/UNP ticket.

Sources said that the Fonseka-Samaraweera meeting followed a move to field candidates representing Opposition political parties, which backed Fonseka at the presidential polls, on the NDF ticket at the parliamentary elections.

Sources said that Wickremesinghe would lead the campaign as the UNF’s prime ministerial candidate.

@dheshapaluwa

Nice analysis.

I too believe that MR/GR thought about the country instead of cheap political gain they could have made with Gonseka destroying/undermining the country with his filthy mouth. It shows clearly what kind of leadership they are and the difference in mentality, compared to Ranil/UNP/JVP.

Many Sinhalese do not see things from the "international perspective". Some are saying are saying MR/GR should have waited till after GE, after explaining the "international effect" of Gonseka on the country they went "so what". They are genuine in their concerns for the country, they want MR to get a good majority and hate Ranil for his treachery but take lightly/do not understand fully what suddha is like or tries to do. Its safe to say a lot of Sinhalese are "naive" when it comes to the operations and machinations of the West. Its the same approach that enabled Tamilia to cement to the world that they were "discriminated" while Sinhalese brushed it off as the rightful rubbish it is, they simply did nothing to counter it, and now the "discrimination" has become a fact . Same thing with the "war crimes" propaganda, they know very well none happened, so think that is enough and all is ok. At the moment it is not a "fact", however Suddhas propaganda machinery has made the "human rights" bs a "fact".

some interesting development among the SUPERPOWERS!! LOVELY!!

"Russia's ambassador to NATO said Wednesday in a post on his Twitter feed that the proverbial Russian bear would "kick the ass" of the United States and its allies if cornered by a new US missile shield.

The ambassador, Dmitry Rogozin, posted the message in response to recent reports that Moscow's Cold War ally Romania had agreed to host interceptor missiles as part of a revised US missile defence system.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
US denies defense crisis with Russia

President Barack Obama's administration Tuesday denied a row over the US anti-missile shield was slowing a landmark nuclear treaty with Moscow, after days of sharp Russian criticism of NATO. Obama also pointedly contrasted Russia's "forward leaning" approach to confronting Iran's nuclear drive with China's more ambivalent stance, as Washington sought "significant" new sanctions against Iran."

Moshe Dyan said...

big boyz having a "kicking the ass" attitude to each other is better for smaller countries to MAINTAIN THE STATUS QUO.

they should NOT agree on anything important.

for instance SL HR BS came up for UN-P-5 discussion last year at east 2 times. everytime there was no concensus. without their 100% approval, UN cannot force any war crimes BS investigation on SL.

fantastic.

india is closer and has a bigger influence on SL. but china being a UN P-5 matches that influence idirectly.

india has test fired a long range nuclear capable missle.

that can reach almost any part of china!!

both are very aggressively expanding their navies. navies mean SL.

Moshe Dyan said...

guyz,

think about this.

is this a possibility????

1. you remember GONZEKA'S legendary rift with the navy commander????

2. he was the first gonz fought.

3. why???

4. was gonz directed by the US puppetteers to bash the SL navy following china in hambantota, TN fishermen complaining that there were chinese men among the SLN who ASSaulted them,SLAF/SLN trying many times to buy chinese 3D radars,.......

5. SUDDENLY USA gave SL a warship in 2004!!! although close to scrap, this was the first time we got such an important navel asset from the USA.

by then US knew of the chinese "necklace of pearls strategy" which was revealed by the CIA to NYT.

wow!!

6. at the same time US puppeteers directed gonz on an ARSE LICKING MISSION to china where he bought US$200 million worth military stuff from china. ridiculously HIGH. higher than the TOTAL defence capital budget of US$185 million!!!

obviously it does not make sense to SL, but to gonz's arselicking plan it made perfect sense.

bugger tried to brush aside ANY suspicion china may have had on him.

when the order was cancelled, the chinese company made NO GESTURE of disappointment. did they know????

7. gonzeka was ARSE fucked by the voters of SL. this was not given a big news status in china unlike in the pro-US camp. why???

8. gonzeka operated a RUSSIAN weapons buying and selling company from the USA!!! this is against the US law.

15 canadian tamils were arrested by FBI for supplying weapons to LTTE.

one jew and a englishman was arrested by UK last week for supplying weapons to SL. US has a similar ban selling OFFENSIVE weapons to SL.

US CERTAINLY knew gonz's company and what they were doing. it was in US trading newspapers too!!!

WHY oh WHY did the US follow a SOFT approach to gonz?????

9. gonz won a greed card in the DV lottery the first time he tried!!

mamamia!! how strange. they say its all (100%) computer generated but many have doubted it even b4.

did the US got their pawn close to them so that they can manipulate the bugger EASILY???

10. robert blake had MANY ROUNDS of "discussions" with gonz PRIVATELY in 2008.

what the hell was so private???

11. IF US gets involved in SL, mark my word, it will be a matter of a short time since russia too got involved in SL.

MR's first visit first election was to india. his first visit after reelection was to russia.

and russia has already sealed an UNNECESSARY (???) weapons deal with SL!!!!

Anonymous said...

Moshe, AT says the deal was more and that SL benefitted.

AT reveleaded many things about Gonseka when many were skeptical, and they turned out to be true.

The visit also saw the finalization of two Agreements. The first, an MOU for the promotion of mass communications, is aimed at augmenting people-to-people contact and cultural relations between the two countries. The other relates to a line of credit for 300 million US Dollars which will be used among others for the purchase of multi-purpose equipment including for defence.

My Comment at DBSJ's Blog

It is very interesting how people who cheered the LTTE's ethnic cleansing, bombings, murders, and torture of thousands in the vast Wanni Gulag, are preaching here about lack of "democracy" in Sri Lanka!

Not one of you "Democ-Rats" cried foul when the LTTE was doing that, but now all of you are piling in here criticizing the Government of Sri Lanka that eradicated terrorism and brought peace to the Nation!

I'll tell you a secret: All of you guys are Incurable Eelamists nursing your anger about the disappearance of your racist apartheid state in Sri Lanka, and trying your darnest to undermine and execute a "Regime Change" so you can resurrect the vanished Eelam.

DREAM ON for it will NEVER HAPPEN!. Sitting in foreign lands, you guys don't understand that a Wave of Patriotism has swept Sri Lanka and caused a Paradigm Shift within the hearts and minds of ordinary Sri Lankans; it's silent majority, not the keyboard warriors of the blogsphere.

On April 8, 2010, the people of Sri Lanka will hand the UPFA another LANDSLIDE victory, and we can proceed with converting Sri Lanka into the "New Wonder lof Asia" with a vision of

ONE Nation INDIVISIBLE,
ONE People INDOMITABLE,
ONE Destiny INSEPARABLE!

Then ALL communities of Sri Lanka, our Sinhala, Tamil, Muslim , Buddhist, Hindu and Christian brothers and sisters will be able to live in peace with EQUAL RIGHTS and EQUAL RESPONSIBILITIES to LOVE, DEFEND and NUTURE the Motherland.

No COMMUNAL RABBLE ROUSERS of ANY KIND will be TOLERATED in Sri Lanka.

You guys can keep wailing in Virtual Eelam and bite your nails to the bone marrow in YOUR FRUSTRATION, but ordinary Sri Lankans will PROSPER IN PEACE!

then each of those countries are going to KILL EACH OTHER FOR THESE RESOURCES (become animals in the jungle).

THERE IS NO political system or an economic system in the world that look at problems from a GLOBLE pov.

few world leaders meeting for a few days in a fancy city is not that. they go back to NATIONAL political/economic systems anyway!!!!

for us (humans) ANYTHING can end up in war.

SL, in this context, must cover its arse using the means and technologies avilable and using the SAME systems used by other countries.

e.g. religion ---> wars

industrial revolution, etc. ----> war (clonialism)

different economic theories (capitalism/maxism) ----> war

space race ----> war

olympics ----> war (1972, 1980 boycot, 1984 boycot)

global warming ---> war

technology development ----> war

oil ----> war
uranium ---> war
diamond ---> war
gold (rush) ---> war
arctic exploration ---> war
antarctic exploration ---> war

weapons companies have the BRIGHTEST future!!

Moshe, This is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!

I think you have discovered a NEW aspect of language policy that we should recognize.

--------------------------------
I am not sure about that. Once English becomes the common language of SL, the Tamils would not have any reason to pick up Sinhalese.

Learning Tamil by Sinhalese would teach every one mutual respect and that is a good thing to have.

thusitha,

1. "Learning Tamil by Sinhalese would teach every one mutual respect and that is a good thing to have."

of course. this is why we should not block anyone doing so voluntarily.

but there are MORE PRODUCTIVE ways to build mutual respect.

e.g. banning racism in politics.

e.g. if you are living in aus (i believe you are), how many national languages are there for 150 nationalities???

ONE. this ONE unifies them ALL.

2. if any IDIOT thinks everyone being fluent in tamil will resolve the SL problem think again. look at tamils!!!!

jaffna tamils treat upcountry tamils and batticaloa tamils like shitt.

even among them vellala and non-vellala ppl have SEVERE problems.

upcountry tamils NEVER shared the tamil elam project. they were heavily marginalised by tamil elamists.

they found the SOLUTION speaking in sinhala!!

batticaloa tamils were the next to shed it.

tamil elamists even TOTALLY screwed TAMIL SPEAKING muslims in 1990!!!

they found the SOLUTION speaking in sinhala instead.

finally, tamil elamists GENOCIDED tamil speaking sinhalas in the north fcuking completely!!

peaceful tamil elamists clapped at this and blamed COLONIZATION for it!!!

so tamil speaking is not THE solution. (although learning any language is good, even ZULU.)

3. instead of learning tamil, sinhalas can learn english. instead of leanring sinhala, tamils can learn english.

then it benefits BOTH!!!

4. only 5% SL's who can speak tamil cannot speak sinhala. 95% SLs can speak sinhala. whereas only 35% can speak tamil.

which BLOODY IDIOT would force 65% to learn a language when the SAME result can be achieved by teaching the 5% sinhala!!!!

5. if we do NOTHING this happens ANYWAY as it happened for 2,500 years. that is the PEOPLE'S solution.

even the mutual respect shown by them to tamil speaking tamil nadu ppl in malaysia (although they travelled in the same boat) is even more facinating.

until this date they maintain that tamil madu tamils are dirty, filthy, lower, stupid and discriminate against them in malaysia. strangely there are more sinhalas in malaysia than "ceylon tamils" today!!!!

A lesson from SFism.

SF has made a special request for troops to maintain calm.

Another Lesson from SFist Logic.

We know(by SFist logic) that the presidential election result has been rigged by none other than the Election Commissioner under the threat of gun violence. Then someone writing Sri Lankan Guardian challanged Mr. Disanayaka to go to a foreign Country and make the statement. Since then it is reported that Mr. Disanayaka is in Nepal.

SFist logicians can explain this. Their explainations could go like this.

(1) The government is clever enough to make the impression that Mr. Disanayaka is in Nepal even though he is actually kept in captivity with threat of gun violence.

(2) Actually this Nepal is not really Nepall. It is just a room of Temple Trees. But everone feels like that this is real Nepal.

(3) No paper has reported this but everone feels that it has been reported due to the power of this corrupt Government.

Rtd. Gen. Sarath Fonseka will face immediate court martial for treason and he can be jailed for up to five years, the country’s Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa said in an interview published Thursday.

Rajapaksa, a brother of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, also told Singapore’s Straits Times that Fonseka had planned to impose military rule and his candidature in the presidential election that he lost was backed by the US and Norway.

Speaking candidly but harshly about Fonseka, Gotabaya rubbished claims that Fonseka played a key role in the military victory over the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in May last year. “What he achieved we could have done with any other commander. There were better officers.”

Fonseka was arrested Monday after being charged with conspiring against the government of Mahinda Rajapaksa, his former friend, and creating rifts in the army. Fonseka’s supporters have denied the charge.

The younger Rajapaksa, who as defence secretary oversaw the war against the Tigers, said Fonseka would be charged under the Army Act. “Under the Army Act, any officer can be charged under military act within six months of leaving the military. There are other things we will do under civil code.”

He went on: “The court martial will begin immediately after the assembling of the summary of evidence is done. I don’t know how long it will take because that depends on lawyers. But we want to finish it soon. In less than six months maybe. The severity of the charges is very high. He can be put in jail for as long as five years.”

Rajapaksa said Fonseka worked with politicians and tried to win them over while holding the Chief of Defence Staff assignment. “This was completely wrong because he was sitting in Security Council meetings. It amounts to treason.”

“He was planning military rule... He was completely trying to isolate the politics and take the country on a different path... In his very last stages as army commander he began bringing his people into Colombo and his regiment, positioning his senior regiment people all over... All these things were looking like a military coup,” said Rajapaksa.

The president’s brother accused a section of the West of conspiring with Fonseka, who has accused the Rajapaksa brothers of war crimes in the military campaign against the LTTE.

“We are 100 percent convinced that Western countries with vested interests were backing him. Even the US, and countries like Norway, spent lots of money on his campaign.

“I have proof of the Norwegian government paying journalists to write against the government,” he said. “They have vested interests and used to support the Tamil Tigers in various ways. They also supported Fonseka to try oust the government.”

Rajapaksa also linked Fonseka with the chilling January 2009 murder of Sri Lankan editor Lasantha Wickrematunge.

“We know there was no other person (involved). You have to see the circumstances. Some of the media people harmed had never criticized any other person except him or people close to him. Nothing happened to those who had been criticizing me or the president.

“We have a clue whom he has used (in the killing). We are very convinced. In fact, I know for sure. He was definitely responsible for five or six cases (of disappearances) where media people were involved. Now I am going after the people who did the executions. The truth will come out very soon.”

Well, SF wants ppl and factions of Army to start rioting. This is what it reads out. SF is a horrible MF who's such a shame to all his upbringing.

Nevertheless, I think it is a very stupid act by govt to arrest him.

- If arrested and put in jail, they can portray a political prisoner out of him, and use it to crate a Mandela in jail image.

- If arrested and released after court martial failing to conclude on crimes, they can portray a Mandela freed.

- If MR is compelled to grant his release, that will be turned into a defeat to dirty attempts of govt.

- If tried with court martial it can be called an opportunist and biased trial [even if it is not].

- If there is any mistake a slightest one, they can get Supreme Court support on HR basis [Most of SL's HR lawyers are working in the evil clan]

Only advantage I see is the blocking of witnessing any UN or Kangaroo-Pussycat court on War Crimes. But having him behind bars can be used as a big evidence for the pussycat propa campaign.

Having not been arrested he would compete the two big ranks of the traitor of nation with RW, and joker of nation with Wikarabahu

What a foolish decision to arrest him.

initially in the northern front GR gave a daily harvesting quota of 15tigers, SF achieved it. then it was raised to 35 and again SF did with task forces, new brigades, multiple fronts, etc.

the MAD and MANIC confidence SF places on himself and his soldeirs through cruel and CRAZY command which we see now was a HUGE ASSET in war. this MANIC confidence played a role in winning the war although some others could also have matched it.

but when SF planned battles, they ended up in disaster.

e.g. muhamalai.

GR lacked the army "driving" skills of SF though he was the mastermind.

a bloody good combination but a clash is inevitable.

Rioting is no big issue even right now. Problem is with the position of the country and govt. And the end result.

[[and that would be worse. he would use 1,500 ARMED army deserters too in that riot.]]

By the time of arrest SF had no such strength. But I'm sure he'd try. But a 1500 army deserters rioting for say, PE "jilmart" is a minor incident. I believe MOD was with right control of army and the "coup" was avoided by then.

[[his ruthless dirty plans will drive them.]]

It will. But SF himself is a fool who could be another negative pole for popularity.

What matters now is that there was a defeated and scattered evil force consisting foreign, pussycat and anti SL elements, which was about to break apart. Arrest gave them a common reason to gather and work together. Again I see not much in rioting, but they have a common objective now. The battle will be mostly legal, and result will be measured in who's getting the end humiliation of the act.

UNP is participating only to boost chances in the GE. Mongala is a backrow participator, and few SF die-hards are running the show with JVP. In a month they will be lost in logical wilderness, on whether or not to riot.

Anoma's tears can't beat teh mega-teledrama tears. We're a nation trained for tears.

To me the only positive reason for his arrest is the blocking of his creative stories on war crimes. But I wonder how they are gonna avoid it by keeping him behind bars. A prisoner is still free to make statements, and notably, to leak "information", which is in fact the stories he'd co-write with pussycat & co.

The diff is, previously they may come out as, "Information from defeated PE candidate, and former commander". now teh parties will call them, "information from the political prisoner, and former commander"

Which one is more powerful?

SK,

It doesn't matter what he is (prisoner or not).

The West will use whatever he says simply because he was the Army Commander at the time. That is the whole point in him being "chief witness".

The bretrayal he did with SundayLeader -despite Gonseka's quick denial-, is still being used. Everyone (Times, Channel 4, Alston) jumped on it there and then.

Government will always respond if he was in jail or not, "this is the words of a liar". In fact its easier for the Government dismiss what Gonseka says when in jail/released from jail (assuming he goes in and whenever that he comes out) "he is a liar" by adding that he is "bitter and wanting revenge for imprisonment so will say anything". This discrediting him is easier with him coming out of jail than if he never went in. Furthermore you will notice Western countries are silent (they are not being "direct" with their demands as in previous occations), i believe that for now they are "worried" he might reveal connections between him and them + gather evidence OR have their "chief witness" tainted, by revealing Gonseka as Wests agent/"paid to say this by the West". In fact couple both together (revenge on GR/MR + paid by West/Wests agent) will discredit the war crimes bs from his mouth and expose the West (already GR has done this with linking the West to funding Fonseka).

Gonsekas arrest happened as soon as he gave the BBC "interview".
He gave the BBC interview to undermine the Government team in Geneva who had to "answer" for Fonseka's earlier SundayLeader statements (West was sticking to it). Someone instructed him to do it then and there.

The Government had no choice. As Dheshapaluwa pointed out in his blog, and i too believe, MR/GR thought about the country instead of cheap political gain they could have made with Gonseka destroying/undermining the country with his filthy mouth.

Sujeewa Kokawala said...

PolS;

Boosting his position matters, since although his past role as a Commander grants him authority, the current position only assures the level of validity that gets stamped in one's mind.

Opposition may or maynot get it going. As usual they're like Andi hath denage kenda heliya. Only JVP does work, but they lack brains. But if they want they can create a huge legal case and paint a pic of a Mandela of Aun Sang Syu Ki out of this.

For good or bad, everyone has GE to worry about.

Anonymous said...

True they will try a Mandela or Aun Sung-whatever to be made out of this.

However Gonseka's military background dampens that.

Mandela was a race thing (black Vs white)

Aun Sung is a civilian fighting military rule.

Here we have a military-type person fighting civilian rule.

I see the GE slogans for the opposition being "free Gonseka" and "democracy" (much like the PE being "change" and "clean governance") and i have a feeling it will not be successful simply because it is the same loser/traitor alliance at work.

If the Government is successful with charging Fonseka, importantly exposing his link to West (no matter how small that is) then the Fonseka thing for the opposition will be a bigger flop.

Post GE we will see the opposition collapse again (assuming they come together now).

Government has done something which no other Government would have done at such a crucial time, they put the country first despite the obvious cost.

We cannot have this nut Gonseka continue to undermine the country with his bs about war crimes. If the Government plays its card right they can come out on top and forever prevent him being a credible "witness".

They make sure the majority gush for Gonseka/UNP and toss in one or two from the other camp to make it look like they are impartial.

AdaDerana allows comments from everyone, you even have UNPers/SF supporters trying to hijack the comment section while accusing the site of being "pro-MR" and complain. That maybe true, yet they have no issues with DailyMirror, LankaEnews, SundayLeader.

Typical hypocrisy of the kalu-suddhas. Just like how they wanted Fonseka to be taken to Geneva, the LTTE to win and the Army destroyed during the war are now praising him. They demanded "if he is guilty of coup/corruption why not arrest him", when he is arrested they howl and scream.
They are indeed perfect copies of their suddha masters. They simply pick up and use what they want, then when they are done throw it away. You see this behaviour from the West how they prop up nations then tear them down, how their media which found Fonseka guilty of "war crimes" suddenly call him "the man who won the war".

Yep they selectively publish comments.
I published a comment about criticizing their point system for comments. It was never published.

In one of their SF's arrest articles pro-SF comments had pretty high points. So I tried to reduce the point by one, but to my suprise instead it increased by one.
Also I tried with another comment which is supporting MR(it had -45 points) and I responded negatively and the new score was -54.
Most of the time plus score was added by +3 instead of +1.

I published a comment accusing them on this and it never got published.

So not only they post comments selectively but also they manipulate comments point system too.

Aung Sang Suu Kyi or Nelson Mandela

Fonseka cannot be either of them in world's eye.

Nelson Mandela was the anti-apartheid leader imprisoned by white conquerors. He never commanded a military force nor tried to stage a military coup. Also Mandela never whined about losing an election by a massive margin. In fact, there was no election for Mandela to compete.

Aung Sang Suu Kyi is the figurehead civilian leader imprisoned by a military regime. She never commanded a military force nor tried to stage a military coup. She is the ideological opposite of Fonseka.

In politics, Fonseka has the inherent disadvantage of being a suppressive military commander in the past who is being prosecute in military courts. Therefore, it is very unlikely that he can pull a Suu Kyi or a Mandela.

War crimes, asssasination attempts, overthrowing governments are irrelevent. This is what I kept saying as soon as I saw SFs arrest.

First biggest threat to the nation to SL was VP. The second biggest threat to SL is the arrest of SF. Think for a second something happen to SF while under custody (which, I think is a possibility, either by a stupid reaction of an some one guarding SF or by someone who want SL destroyed). That would be end of MR and MR Clan. People in SL would never allow MR or GR to govern the nation.

So, what is the treat? GR/SS e.t.c. charged under war crimes? Is this dangerous? Not at all. If I weight the two options up, war crime charges would be really good for SL. This would destroy SF in the eyes of Sri Lankan public. Also SL would become more patriotic when they see war heroes like SS, CG, e.t.c. being dragged in to war crimes tribunals.

Therefore government should stop this madness and let SF go.

Learning a language would not do any good if you just do it by studying it at home. But if you learn it by getting friendly with the people of that culture, which is bound to happen it would change the way people would think about each other.
You may be right to think that there are better ways to integrate the cultures by making them Sinhalese. But I wonder whether that would work as most of the people would be using English as a common language to communicate in future.

I agree that SF has no real qualifications to be any of them. In simple, he's held for genuine crimes not bogus or no crimes like in teh case of other two. But for a movement whom used kataragama fire trampling and their own killing in sinhala border villages to raise genocide claims, SF is enough meat.

And they dont want much, just some sympathy in their way to punish SL and get some embargoes lifted or ignored.

Re: Govt's options

Best thing is to do teh honest most and if possible move to civil courts [maybe to a court martial to top up]. And do our best honesty and believe in the power of truth.

But it is always advantage SF.

Re: GE

There is impact of this arrest, yet won't be so critical

Re: Riots

Well, if handled rightly [not with thugs] it will fade. SL ppl are not fools to spend their time on streets like this everyday. A transparent hearing would leave many in double mind anyway. Yet few deaths are possible. Such deaths are lame wastes of human lives if it ever happens.

Re: War Crimes

A free SF can go and talk about "crimes" but how little can he say? How little can he say while saving his own arse? And how little credible they will be, as he has lost election and naturally like to defame its winner. Plus how foolish he is. Opens his mouth and he looses credibility.

But a prisoner SF, how many things can the others say? And use his imprisonment as evidence. Ppl outside of SL will believe them all, as there is a credible evidence for cover up by having him behind bars. Still can the govt stop him writing a book? [i.e. some Mongala goon ghost writing it]. Suddenly teh looser of PE has found a treasure of options open for him.

And like Thusitha said, imagine the risk of his death, even by natural cause.

Re: Iran/Burma type situ.

of course. this is why we should not block anyone doing so voluntarily.

but there are MORE PRODUCTIVE ways to build mutual respect.

e.g. banning racism in politics.

e.g. if you are living in aus (i believe you are), how many national languages are there for 150 nationalities???

ONE. this ONE unifies them ALL.

-----------------------------
I am not sure about the comment that English unifies them all. People speaking English doesn't make every one unified in Australia. Rudd has a enormous respect among Chinese community because of his ability to speak Chinese. What every said and done, people would respect a person who has bothered to learn a minority language. It makes you (in most cases) one of your own.

Even in Australia, there are large number of people now learning Chinese. It definitely change the way how you look at foreigners. This is not something you can gain easily by just communicating in English and reading from books. That makes them interested in other countries and make them travel there are want to learn much more about those communities and how they think.

Learning Tamil is not the solution to the current problem we have. But we can make it part of the solution.

I think Sri Lanka should offer to help with the charges of the war crimes; but not just the final few days of the war (when the gvot. forces were winning), but the entire 30 year war.

That should help everyone to realize who the real war criminals are. Those who provided arms and training to the LTTE ect. ect. ect. and put everything in perspective.

As a democracy who fought unmitigated terrorism, and won, we can see when we derive comparative material from other wars to justify the war with the LTTE. Should be interesting.

SL is NOT discredited internationally for SF's arrest. SL is discredited for SCUTTLING the seperatist plan ASSIGNED to SF that is SOOOO important to puppet masters.

this is the reason. do you see the nexus????

if SF was out, he would carry out their agenda which includes,

1. gathering info on "war crimes" stories.

2. inventing war crimes BS stories

3. selling these stories to the IC

4. creating a rift within the country using army deserters, foreign interferers, etc. so that society will one day "OK" the war crimes stories.

this happened in 2001. at the end of it ppl didn;t mind the surrender agreement and lifting the ban on the LTTE.

5. creating havoc so that NO FREE AND FAIR GE could be held.

6. if you think protests, etc. are MINUTE, think again.

govt had to use tear gas to disperse the crowd.

that means it is serious.

if this continues, the country would be bronght to a standstill.

in 2001 they did the same. then the army had to shoot dead 2 idiots who attached SLA. then the crowd got bigger.

don't underestimate the power of BS.

7. of course MOST ppl are not fooled by this BS croc tears.

but you need only 0.5%, i repeat 0.5% of voters to hold the BIGGEST crippling protest in the country. and if anyone dies for whatever reason, that tends to grow bigger and more bad publicity.

Thusitha,

This is not a REALISTIC hope. SF cares about NO ONE EXCEPT HIMSELF. If he cared about the Nation, he would not have done most of the things he has.

That is not in his CHARACTER, and it is too late to change that in a man of mature years. He is a very emotional man driven by shallow motives .. we dare not entrust any political leadership in Sri Lanka to such a man.

He was given a wonderful opportunity to excel and gain the adulation of the nation; and he kicked it all because of those CHARACTER FLAWS.

Never AGAIN!

Many JVPers believe in Maxisasm and they think its about every one living under same economic condition. Since they are unable to find a way to improve their own financial condition they do it other way - destroying what others have. And as they don't have jobs they make those work to strike and then fired-jobless-same as them.

So its easy to make these JVPers to put into streets. One reason for UNP-JVP distance was this economic gap whereas SLFPers usually in middle. But now UNP and JVP are closest friends. Did UNPers have become poor or JVPers have become rich..? possibly from US money..?

SLDF forum is not pro-MR or anti-SF.

it is pro-SL.

unfortunately SF has alligned with anti-SL elements.

e.g. if you hug an iron post when its hit by lightning, you die too!! not that the lightning struck you, but bcos you alligned with the wrong thing.

e.g. you sleep with a HIV case and you may get it.

and someone who didn't would not get it.

it does not mean discrimination. it is association.

if it was MR who alligened with anti-SL elements, we would be screwing him INSTEAD.

if BOTH SF and MR remains pro-SL, we would be pitting one against the other and support the MOST pro-SL guy.

this is the same stupid argument brought by tamil elamists in foreign countries. they say no democracy in SL bcos they cannot support the LTTE there. they can support the LTTE in UK, US, canada, aus, etc.

how dumb??

they compare apples with pineapples.

try supporting al qaeda or jamah islamia or jihad in those countries and see what happens.

that is the comparable action.

OTOH support al qaeda, JI, hezbullah, jihad, etc. in SL and NOTHING will happen to you!!!!

My Comment at The Economist

...........
thamilan,

Now, now my dear chap, you are becoming rather erratic .. aren't you? This disease which afflicted the Sun God, Velupillai Prabhakaran, is always fatal; I would strongly advise you to protect yourself from contracting it.

You said "This President is not going to give any solution like the others before him," but, my dear fellow, HE IS .. it is in the Mahinda Chintana Future Vision document that was his election platform in the recently concluded Presidential Election which he won by a LANDSLIDE! Um, I fondly repeat here: by a LANDSLIDE!

He has said that there will be no ethnic homelands in Sri Lanka, that ALL of Sri Lanka BELONGS to ALL OF ITS PEOPLE. Not PART BY PART, but AS A WHOLE. He has said that no region of Sri Lanka will be evolved power on any communal basis, like ethnicity, religion, language, and caste .. No-WHERE to No-ONE. He has said that EQUAL RIGHTS will be guaranteed to EVERY CITIZEN, including equal opportunity to enjoy ALL benefits of citizenship in Sri Lanka; THESE RIGHTS will be STRICTLY enforced, together with the EQUAL RESPONSIBILITY to LOVE, DEFEND and NUTURE the Nation. He has said that there are NO MINORITY and NO MAJORITY communities in Sri Lanka; only those who LOVE Sri Lanka and those WHO DO NOT.

He has said ALL areas of the country will be developed to the SAME level through investment in facilities and jobs. He has focused attention on the North and East which the 30-year captivity by the LTTE has left destitute DESPITE the many billions of dollars of ill-gotten gains in their treasury. To those ill-gotten gains we should add the many billions of dollars of funds expended by the Government of Sri Lanka over 30-years to feed and pay the enslaved people of the North and East .. no other nation in the world has done that for people in enemy occupied territory .. leading dear old Bill Clinton to quip that Sri Lankans have a strange way of fighting enemies! In his estimate, perhaps, carpet bombing with B-24's would have met the challenge.

That, my dear friend, is the SUM TOTAL OF THE "POLITICAL SOLUTION" for ALL Communities of Sri Lanka. Get used to living in Sri Lanka in the future as a mere equal to its other citizens, and not as a member of a superior highly intelligent species endowed with an inalienable right to greater rights!

Let me cut to the chase by stating this observation I had during the thick of the last war between the Sri Lanka Govt. armed forces and the LTTE terrorists (reasonable to use that term as they are branded as such by over 32 countries):
During the thick of the war, it was quite common to see LTTE protest rallies in the west having posters of "Genocide in SL" and "War Crimes in SL" and what was noteworthy about these posters was that they had 3 individuals' pictures right below such slogans.

Yes, for sure one was of President Mahinda Rajapakse, the other was of Gotabaya Rajapakse (Defense Secretary SL) and the third was of the then Army Commander Sarath Fonseka.

Wow! Today all those rallies have all but disappeared not to mention such posters are not even seen in jungle paths! Not only that, judging by the rabidly pro-Sarath Fonseka comments of the pro-LTTE and hard-core LTTE agents herein, it is mindboggling to see that the same LTTE that had Sarath Fonseka in those posters are now batting for him herein and elsewhere, against the Govt. of Sri Lanka!
Yeah, time we cut to the chase...and time we ask ourselves the question many Sri Lankans are asking today..."why are these LTTE supporters thronging around Sarath Fonseka like he is their prophetic hero?"

LTTE supporters [not only the ones overseas, but Tamil National Alliance (pro-LTTE party) and Mano Ganeshan (an avowed LTTEr)in Sri Lanka] thronging around Sarath Fonseka tells a bad tale.

It tells us that Sarath Fonseka was out to no good and that all the accusations from the Mahinda R Govt of SL about Sarath planning a coup, planning to assassinate key govt officials including President Mahinda R etc. are entirely believable!

So, to us who can add two and two together and produce 4 (or the words "LTTE TERRORISM"), the bottom line is Sarath Fonseka became a pro-LTTE stooge via the LTTE sympathetic UNP under Ranil Wickremasinghe, which in turn is string-jerked puppet under the care of the West (that has large pro-LTTE Tamil diasporas and hence it needs to have a different agenda to that of SL's national security interests).

Yes, time to cut to the chase and not be confused about why a fake "Lion's Roar" can energize a "True Tiger's" cunning.

Another "Iran Post-election" in the making I see, but I am truly heartened to see in this instance, "Maharagama" has seen a better duty-minded response from the national Police than their counterparts at "Hulftsdorp" yesterday.

Re. "Hulftsdorp" there is no excuse in my view to have pro-LTTE/SF protesters throw stones in public after our brave brothers had sacrificed over 27,000 of their lives to asssur that LTTE will never ever be tolerated in Sri Lanka by word or deed.

What were the Police doing in that case at Hulftsdorp? In my view, a mass baton charge, rubber bullets, followed up with live bullets if violence still continued, should have commenced as soon as it was evident that the pro-LTTE/SF supporters were hell bent on violence!

Glad to see SL police learned a lesson and calibrated itself!

Karu Jayasuriya, an opposition spokesman has said that, "... the opposition will be speaking to all religious leaders and will have a series of religious events to seek the release of Sarath Fonseka from custody and ensure more democratic freedom..."

It is alleged that Fonseka had colluded with the opposition politicians last year while still heading the army. Thus he had been politicising the army.

With regard to the accusation against Sri Lanka for war crimes, Fonseka on 8th Monday had said, "...I am going to reveal what I know, what I was told and what I heard. Anyone, who has committed war crimes should be definitely brought into courts..." And he had added that he is prepared to give evidence in an International Court. Ironically, this obviously means evidence against Sri Lanka especially against the army in which he was the commander.

Revealing military secrets and conspiring against the govt are treason. But for the opposition this is democratic freedom. So the bankrupt political parties are to muster support of religious leaders to defend him.

In contrast, for Fonseka's alleged crimes he should also be made ineligible for 'gifts' made by the govt., especially the grant of 25 perches of prime land close to the city worth Rs. 900 million, given to him after the war. Because, there are more deserving handicapped and incapacitated soldiers without proper housing in the rural areas of Sri Lanka who need such handouts. They are the real patriots and not cosmetic patriots who turned out to be traitors."

I remember how this top scum wanted 25 perches to make him feel "above" the other two commanders who given 10 perches. Gonseka then said "it was nothing because the Airforce and Navy commanders were given land too".

He wanted to be "special".

What an egoistical ungrateful scum.

GR really made a mistake with this piece of shit.

Knowing GR/MR they probably appointed him out of a sense of comrade ship when GR and Gonseka served together. Gonseka was about to retire and CBK treated him like trash, when GR Became defence sectary he must have begged GR and invoked memories of the past to propel himself into greater power and fulfil his dirty ego which GR/MR nursed to the maximum to only have him try and seize control of the nation and sell us out to its enemies.

We need to access this information (e.g. corrupt deeds of Ravi K), the documentation which always makes any accusation look more solid.

Then we need to distribute it and it must go to the SL masses.

Internet alone is not enough since roughly only 10% of the population has access to the internet.

It should be the job of our shit media to be doing “investigative journalism” to reveal these kinds of things, instead of sitting around waiting till some NGO or the Government says so then reporting it.

S Lankan general 'behind attacks'

Sri Lanka's main opposition party has accused the country's most senior army officer of being behind violent attacks on reporters.

Opposition MP Joseph Michael Perera told parliament that the attacks were carried out by a "special team" controlled by Lt Gen Sarath Fonseka.

Mr Perera said the government should arrest the offenders and "immediately bring them to justice".

The army has denied that it is any way involved in attacks on journalists.
'Dangerous'

"We are told by those in the army itself that journalists are abducted and subjected to grievous injury by none other than a special unit under the army commander," Mr Perera, a former parliamentary speaker, said.

The World Association of Newspapers recently ranked Sri Lanka as the third most dangerous country in the world for media workers in 2007.

The state is involved in a series of intimidations, abductions and killings of media persons

Joseph Michael Perera

Sri Lanka's journalists under fire
But army spokesman Brig Udaya Nanayakkara said that the MP had nothing to substantiate his allegations.

"We have nothing to do with the attacks against journalists," he said. "If the MP has evidence, he must present it to the police."

The BBC's Roland Buerk says that there have been a series of abductions and assaults against journalists in Sri Lanka.

Our correspondent says that no-one has been brought to court for the attacks and there are accusations the government has been turning a blind eye, if not encouraging them.

Twelve journalists have been killed in Sri Lanka since August 2005, 11 of them in government-controlled areas.

In one of the most controversial incidents, a journalist and a senior official of the British High Commission were assaulted last week just days after the government set up a cabinet-level panel to prevent attacks on media personnel.

Lt Gen Fonseka hit the headlines in June when he said that the Tamil Tiger rebels had been defeated as a conventional force.

He said troops were advancing steadily into the rebel-held north and within a year the Tigers would lose large areas and their control over the population.

But he admitted a low-level insurgency could last indefinitely.

The general himself narrowly escaped death when a woman suicide bomber targeted him in April 2006 inside the high security army headquarters complex."

My Comment at The Economist

...............
My dear fellow, Sinna Siththar,

By intoning "have you ever heard of Buddha, who preached the "Middle Path" to us, you are preaching to the proverbial choir.

What is more, it seems that your pseudo-Buddhist sermons are emanating from an individual who has supported the shootings, the suicide bombings, the midnight slicing and dicing of hundreds by entire villages, the ethnic cleansing of all Sinhala and Muslims in the North and East, the kidnapping and brainwashing of underage children into cannon fodder, the torturing of thousands of innocents in barb-wired torture chambers of the Wanni Gulag, of smuggling fully one third of Sri Lankan Tamil people abroad as captive fake refugees, blackmailing and exploiting the legal and welfare systems of gullible western host countries, to be milked by the LTTE-mafia to support a vicious murderous killing machine in Sri Lanka.

Ah! yes, these are the double-faced con-artistes of the LTTE Tamil Diaspora who present one face to the West as permanent innocent victims, while they cultivated a monstrous persona to intimidate and terrorize the hapless people of Sri Lanka, and killed people of ALL communities, with gay abandon.

Now, you preach to us that since the majority community are Sinhalese Buddhists treading the Middle Path, they have no right to defend themselves, and all other communities of Sri Lanka, against unmitigated evil.

Religion presents to humans an unattainable ideal that we strive for, and guides us, but one we must temporarily abandon to assure the survival of our peoples. Other religions are no different; they espouse universal love and compassion, but in a practical world that is not always possible. When Christian Western Europe was confronted by the unmitigated evil of Hitler and the Nazi war machine, they did not say "we are Christians taught to love-thy-neighbor by Christ, and to always turn the other cheek" and, therefore, that they should not resist! No, they fought back with all of their might to overcome evil and survive the onslaught. Today, the United States is waging war in Afghanistan for similar reasons.

Even Mahatma Gandhi's program of non-violence in his struggle for independence of India would have failed had the colonial power been the Nazis, and not the British, weakened as they were by WWII. Gandhi's true greatness lies in that he properly gauged the situation, understanding the innate decency of the British people, their war weariness, and their reduced attachment to far-flung empires. Had he tried non-violence against the Nazis, he and millions of Indians would have perished in concentration camps.

We Buddhists, joined by all peoples of Sri Lanka, are no different from people all over the world who have set aside the impractical ideal of religion temporarily to face the exigencies of the moment! We have an inherent inalienable claim on the right to fight to survive, guided by the good sense that is our birthright, just as we will always strive under normal conditions to achieve the Buddhist ideal.

Let there be no doubt, that NO ONE preaching Buddhism to Sri Lankan Patriots can convince us not to defend ourselves against evil aggression. It will FAIL, as it ALREADY HAS, and it ALWAYS WILL.

It will fail, just as your previous attempt at this Blog-thread to exacerbate non-existent caste divisions among the Sinhala people FAILED. In attempting these tactics, you demonstrate that you have not really understood the lessons of the struggle that Sri Lankans have waged over three millenia to secure their place in the sun, expelling ALL INVADERS, and defeating ALL INTERNAL ENEMIES.

Disce' Aut Discede', my friend!

138 (61%) seats agrees with my prediction of 135-146(60-65%) seats for the UPFA

...........
Parliamentary polls 2010
Best projected results for
UPFA –12 members short of a two-thirds majority

By Shamindra Ferdinando
Island.lk
February 12, 2010

The ruling SLFP-led coalition is confident that it could muster 138 seats at the forthcoming parliamentary polls-12 members short of a two-thirds majority it needed to implement far reaching constitutional reforms envisaged in the 14-point Mahinda Chintanaya II programme.

Among the proposed changes were electoral reforms, including changing the existing PR system as well as revamping Provincial Council and Local Government systems. The President also promised to ensure minority representation in Parliament by electing members on the basis of district cum national percentages.

Mass Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhana on Wednesday (February 11) said that following a thorough analysis of the recently concluded presidential polls, the UPFA was confident that it could comfortably obtain a better percentage at the parliamentary polls.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa polled 6,015.934 (57.88 %) against 4,173,185 (40.15%) obtained by the Opposition presidential candidate.

"If we obtained a similar percentage of the vote, we can win 131 seats. But due to perceived drop in the percentage the Opposition votes, the UPFA is in a position to win seven additional seats," he said.

Responding to The Island queries at the weekly media briefing at the Information Department, Minister Abeywardhana said that a two-third majority was needed to ensure political stability. The non-Cabinet ranker asserted that the number of ministers could not be reduced at the expense of political stability.

He said that about 10 per cent of those who had exercised their franchise in support of Opposition presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka would not skip the parliamentary polls. A further 10 per cent would vote for UPFA candidates, he said. The Opposition was in disarray and could not pose a threat to the government.

Referring to the criticism of the arrest of the former Army Commander on conspiracy charges, Miniser Abeywardhana said that the situation would have been totally different had President Rajapaksa lost the polls. The Opposition had threatened to detain politicians, officials and top military personnel, including Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. Secretary to the President Lalith Weeratunga was among 27 Secretaries, who had received letters from the Opposition, warning of dire consequences, the Minister said. A smiling Abeywardhana said that some officials threw their weight behind not because of their love for the President but they really feared for their lives.

Asked whether he was addressing the media as the former Mass Media Minister, Abeywardhana said that Ministers and non-Cabinet Ministers could continue in their offices, though the President had dissolved Parliament at midnight Tuesday. He acknowledged that over 100 members could enjoy ministerial perks and privileges regardless of the dissolution.

Another rabid white dog has started barking once again.
‘40,000 Tamil civilians Killed during the final battle’-Gordon Weiss

Gordon Weiss, the Resident United Nations representative in Colombo who was summoned by the Government of Sri Lanka and later made to leave the country last year for commenting about a civilian “bloodbath” has given several interviews to Australian media recently. Gordon Weiss is now free to reveal all the happenings in Sri Lanka, as he is now resigned from the United Nations Organization after 14 years of service.

In an exclusive interview aired on Feb 9th with Eric Campbell of Australia’s ABC News in its program “Foreign Correspondent”, Gordon Weiss says between 10,000 and 40,000 civilians died during the 2009 final battles in Sri Lanka North-East.

Gordon Weiss says that after the war ended, a senior civil servant openly admitted that the authorities had deliberately underestimated the number of trapped civilians “as a ploy to allow the government to get on with its business.”………………….. http://transcurrents.com/tc/2010/02/post_490.html

The Rajapakse brothers are turning Sri Lankan politics into a blood sport. The arrest of Sarath Fonseka is an abuse of state power for the purpose of personal vengeance. The decision to subject him to Court Martial is to try him behind closed doors and find him guilty as charged. The charges are fabricated and the judgment may already have been written. Whether Sarath Fonseka deserves this is not the question.

The immediate release of Sarath Fonseka and all political prisoners including journalists should be the first goal the protesting people. If there are charges against the detainees, let them be investigated independently by the Attorney General and the Police and let the law take its course. The culture of independent investigation has become quite alien to Sri Lanka, but it is time that it was restored within the state to countervail the state monopoly over violence………… http://transcurrents.com/tc/2010/02/arrest_most_foul.html

My guess is that he spoke the truth regarding Fonseka arrest. He says that they know the arrest is not favorable for the govt's image yet they had to do it.

[Also SF will realize his stupidity of going after the Tamil vote and would do what is best for the nation.]

--------------------------------
I Understand you sentiments. That is a hope, but it is not really important. What I really want to is to get out from the current mess MR has created for himself.
As far as I can see MR well and truly cornered himself. Remember what happened to Musharaf. I don't want the same thing happening to MR. It is irrelevant whether MR does something bad or not to SF. Every thing is driven by sentiments and not logic or reasoning. There are plenty of Idiots in SL.

Only thing that will happen with time is more and more riots will continue until someone dies. Then people will start wondering what the fuck happened. Right or wrong does not come to this equation.

As soon as I saw the arrest of SF arrest I started commenting on this. I still believe riots will continue.

This is a political game and therefore it should be played in such a way. This should not be played according to the law.

The best and the only way to destroy SF is to let him level war crimes charges against GR. Once this happens we just need to create rumours all our military commanders would be dragged in to Hague.

No one, including U.S. / Europe would ever consider charging SL. That means 70% of the people would be going directly against them.

Also You saw what happened when he tried to do that last time. As I said many times, if that happened the support of SF would drop from 40% to 20%. Support for U.S. and the west would go down greatly.

This is the card we should be playing now. Tigers are gone. Every one knows that the west needs Sinhalese on their side. Therefore there would be lot of BS talk, but no action on there part.

Also, if for some reason SF decided to pull this shit, every SL would understand he must go. So, what ever happen to him become irrelevant.

Therefore

Thusitha,

Regarding SF, it is the SF-JVP nexus that is at play here. It is the JVP that supports and manages these violent demonstrations and riots, just as they hoodwinked all prior to the PE by staging mass meetings, busing the same crew from meeting to meeting.

Ultimately, the GOSL will have to move against the JVP and hold it accountable for their disruptive activities in society. That is best done after the GE when they have failed to win public support and are reduced to an insignificant political force in Sri Lanka.

I do not subscribe to the approach of ignoring problems in the hope they will just go away.

That is what successive Govts did with the LTTE problem; it failed badly by allowing it to grow. Most insurgencies are launched by a few idealogues ignored by governments.

No, these problems must be explained to the people by persuasive speakers, and confronted head on before they spin out of control.

It must be attended to before they compromise what all of us are praying for: the ECONOMIC EMERGENCE of Sri Lanka as the "New Wonder of Asia."

These protests by the JVP and the statements that the JVP leadership will be arrested by the government reminds me of 1987 when the JVP used anti-IPKF sentiment to launch an armed insurgency against the goverment and we all know how that ended.

BreatheSL,

Brother, you have earned my deep gratitude again by posting the links to Wimal Weerawansa's latest Thulawa Interview Videos in full at this blog.

I will post these videos at the blog, shortly.

I URGE all Patriots to watch these videos in full. I completely agree with Wimal Weerawana, and the significance of this moment in time for Sri Lanka's future progress.

In my posts everywhere on the internet, I have been arguing Sri Lanka's case pretty much the same way .. but not as effectively as this very gifted man does.

Patriots,

This is my first comment on SLDF (even though I have actively commented in DW during the war). However, I was a regular visitor of this site and I have gone through all most all of your comments.

I am a strong supporter of MR. (I could convince my brother, who is a fan of SF, to vote for MR)

However, after the arrest of SF, I firmly believe now MR and the gov is going on the wrong track.

Before the arrest, it was clear that UNP and JVP was preparing to contest separately and SF was preparing to contest for Galle district with JVP. This could reduce the no of seats for UNP and JVP. It was clear that JVP cannot win more than 2-3 seats. Since only SLFP and UNP, (not JVP) are strong in Galle, SF did not had a chance to goto the parliament.

But now, situation is changed. In this situation, both UNP and JVP are forced to contest as a single party, which will increase there no. of seats. Also, they will get more votes than the presidential election (or at lease they will retain their 40 lacks) due to sympathetic voters. Earlier, most of the people who voted for SF were decided to not to vote or vote for MR in the upcoming election. Also this will reduce the enthusiasm of MR voters.

If gov really wanted to arrest him, gov could do it after the election. In this situation, I'm sure (though SLFP can easily win) SLFP cannot get the 2/3 majority.

Thusita mate, you obviously do not understand how the West works or thinks. Even if MR has 100% victory & support they would not care. They will do their best to secure and fulfil what is in their interests and that is installing in power some loyal lackey. They would have no problem over-throwing MR (or any Government for that matter if they can) no matter how popular either through coups, assassinations, bribery, Ranilams, Gonsekas the works and will do whatever it takes, including bogus riots, and defamation and spreading of propaganda to make popular leaders unpopular. They have no problem slapping sanctions on SL to make the people "change their minds". In fact Western countries want to punish Sinhala people in particular for defying them and keeping MR around. Why else did they covertly back the LTTE then when push came to shove started doing it overtly.

Why do you think they a perusing bogus "war crimes"? Even when Gonseka denied what that bs he told SundayLeader the West still went ahead with it. They want to get rid of MR one way or another and will do whatever it takes to have some puppet in leader, whether 70% or 100% back MR/nationalistic leader they would not give a damn and have no problem punishing whole populations to do so (see Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam). In SLs case Gonseka provides that simply because "he was Army Commander". No matter how discredited he is he us the "source". Not to mention his coup attempt. Had he done it, and given us a Military dictatorship they would have back it so long as it served their purposes (see Iraq/Iran).

Nisal,

I believe that some of us share thoughts similar to you. GE is in any case based on local politicians than MR. A 2/3rd majority is going to be impossible in any case. As far as your other concerns, we may see it taking the real shape after seeing the evidence government is going to present to the courts. Irrespective of political outcome, I strongly believe that all the traitors should be punished. That includes Mangala Samaraweera and Ranil Wickramasinghe who started the whole procedure.

Asterix - The Mansions of God ...to be exact. Read last week, so it was just in the memory cache.

Yeah, this Cacofonix is best teasing and shooing ladies, sadism barred, I shud say.

Right now this place is calm. We as a group represent different opinions. even the publishers of this blog do not share same opinion, if you follow our ideas on SF arrest. It needs not to be so.

But for heaven's sake we gotta discuss matters seriously, and be honest with our idea. It shud not divert in the middle to throw a bit of filth at another blogger whom disagreed with you for something about an year ago.

And it SHUD NOT read "I hate SL, I hate SL" between every two lines. Well, it can, but we won't just wait at that.

So we unanimously tied the incest bard. That suggestion came first from some non-author brothers. Before that you and me would not be making this discussion as inbetween there will be 100 hate comments targetting various things starting from bloggers, SL, govt, culture, Dhamma, traditions etc etc.

If you wanna see his annoyance see what he's doing at DW, and how little relevant his comments are to subject.

I read his mind and I know which clan he belongs to. We have ppl who make films [which get banned] on mother having sex with son in SL. Same group cries for tamil wounds and Sinhala guns. Or liberation and revolution. I even wrote an article on the same. I'm sure he sits well with the clan.

For some strange reason their first god, Leon Trotsky had his forhead axed... And I wouldn't talk about teh second God...

I fully agree for the need, but the number of such ppl is not small.

And honestly it is one reason why SL is infested with the negative aspects like thuggary, corruption, misconduct, favorism etc.

To fix these, a quick solution is what happened in Singapore and Malaysia. A firm and ruthless rule. But teh fear is whether it will turn into a Zimbabwe or Iraq, or even North Korea.

OK, I leave the matter of complaining. Let's see the best out of it. Let's see how firmly we can punish one man who messed with our nation. For the sake of records, and for a good start.

No mate, you haven’t clearly understood what I am saying. Living In Australia, I clearly understand how the west are destablizing our nations and the narrow minded thinking that goes in to those decisions.

We have two major problems in our hands right now. One is SF and the other, war crime charges. It is best to tackle one problem at a time. In the absence of the SF factor, we should have put our best to get away from the war crimes charges. But with current developments, and an A**hole who think that SL belongs to him, what we should try to do is to eliminate SF factor.

As far as I can see, the one an only way to eliminate SF is to let him charge GR with war crimes (and by association the rest of our field commanders). You will see the masses turning against SF and UNP straight away as soon as people start realizing our war heroes are going to be charged.

Secondly, we have great lawyers in SL, plus there would be large number of international communities who are behind us. This BS war crime charges would not work. If it is, we should be counter suing and creating war crime charges against U.K., U.S. and Canada etc. It would be a dangerous precedence to set by charging an army who fight Terrorist. We can drag all the U.S. military personal in to war crimes Tribunals, specially the Iraqis and Afghanistan’s.

Ananda,
No where I suggested to ignore the problem. My only concern is that this would lead to mass protests and riots. Sometimes legal means are not the best solutions. It is the best solutions when the country is more stabilize.

As I said earlier, since I am not in SL, I cannot predict the reaction of the people to SFs arrests. If there is no riots, no deaths, that would be o.k. But if there are, we would be in big trouble.

I wish SL people are that smart. Remember 40% of the people voted for SF. And 2-3% must be hard core supporters of him. We need only we idiots like these to create havoc in SL. Once it starts, it is difficult to stop. That is my biggest worry.

Re: Western Impression on SL

The western impression is not something like virginity. I mean, a one off event, where once it is broken, there is no remedy and no point trying, and you're free to do anything after that.

Nop. It is not a 1/0 matter like that. It is multi leveled and can impact further and further. It is never lost or gained fully.

West will never mean so much great heart for us. Nobody does. It is their strategy always. A Sanction or a concession both are parts of strategy. We need to make max out of it.

Although they pushed us so much to the wall to stop war and let go pussycats, they simultaneously blocked some portion of funding, punished collectors, provided some [minute] material support and training and were holding bans on pussycats and publicly opposing eelam [although they may have other ideas behind teh doors]

None of these were given away for their good hearts. They all have underlying reasons to happen. And impression is a big one. The feeling that we are not THEIR enemy.

Put a nation like Iran, North Korea or Cuba in our position. Do you think they'd do the same? I think they'd support pussycats openly with money and weapons, like in Nicaragua two decades ago.

We do not want similar situ. And we do not want to attack west needlessly.

We can let them feel teh sovereignty of ours like MR managed in his Ambilipiti-vaadaya with dumb and dumber. Or like how Russion FM did with one of the same. But needlessly making them agitate at us, and further support teh enemies of our nation leaves room for few unwanted problems.

- Release of pussycat regulations
- Govt sympathy on them, public sympathy too.
- Public support on movements like "do not buy SL products"
- Lesser respect for SL, including its glorious DF.
- Sanctions, dropping of favors.
- For Jackal to step in [ref: Hitman book]

I'd give it all for the war matters. Fine. But now, why do we still batter these lines?

We need to avert these. We do not want a Hugo Chaves here. We want a Lula De Silva or Vladimir Putin.

And it is a disgrace to the President who could visit ailing Fidel Castro on his way to a Washington Summit or Visit Tel Aviv to close a weapons deal in secrecy, while he's on his way to open the street in Palasthene named after him.

Diplomacy, I am craving for.

MR should abandon the notion that people voted for him to show their gratitude. Vote is more valuable than gratitude.

If one wants to show gratitude then she/he would send flowers, invite for a lunch or will hang MR' picture in their living room.

People vote for MR because they trusted for him to be the best bet for the future, which I agree.

It is hightime that this gratitude notion is abandoned.
