A few words from the outstanding heroes of Sri Lankan history of 2550 years.

“My three-year-old little son knows that I got Prabhakaran’s body. When he says “mage thaththa thamai Prahakarange body eka gaththe (It was my father who got Prabhakaran’s body) I cannot express my happiness.

People, who are worried that Prabhakaran is over, may say things but I don’t mind as long as my son knows that I fought to destroy him. That is enough for me”, says Sgt. Muthubanda who is still waiting to pursue his latest ‘dream’.

“If I can meet President Mahinda Rajapaksa and tell him how we fought and recovered Prabhakaran’s body......”. This is his dream at this time when Sri Lanka is preparing to celebrate the war victory, next week.

Fear not Col. Aluwihare and Sgt. Muthubanda, not just your sons, millions of Sri Lankan sons will talk about your heroics in the same high regard as we spoke about the great warriors of Gamini Abhaya and Kiththi Vijayabahu. You have defined our moment of Sri Lankan history and we are damn proud of you. Your names will be gold scribed in the coming chapters of Mahawamsa. I hope that President Rajapakse will give Sgt. the chance to talk about that chapter of Mahawamsa.

Sri Lanka's economy grew fastest in second half of 2009, the World Bank report says

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka's economy expanded by 3.3% in the second half of 2009, the fastest rate recorded since 2002 showing stability despite a weak global economy, the World Bank report released Friday said.

"Despite entering the Global Financial Crisis in a weak macroeconomic situation, the Sri Lankan economy has recovered rapidly," the report noted.

The World Bank's economic update for 2010 on Sri Lanka said the economic growth indicators confirmed a strong increase in economic activity for the region with agriculture, transportation, and communication sectors showing strong performance in the last quarter of 2009 and the hotel industry growing approximately 32% due to an influx of tourists after the end of the conflict.

Despite the strong recovery in the second-half of the year, overall growth in 2009 was subdued, as both domestic and global demand fell, it said.

Although inflation moved upward gradually since falling to 0.7% in September 2009 and reaching 6.9% in February 2010 before easing to 6.3% in March, it is expected to stay relatively low in 2010, due partly to increased agricultural production in the North, which will help contain food prices, the monetary body predicted.

In looking ahead the World Bank report says that increases in foreign direct investment and tourism, along with improved employment and large-scale reconstruction projects in the North, are expected to sustain and accelerate Sri Lanka's growth throughout 2010. The short-term prospects for the Sri Lankan economy are positive, the agency concluded.

Sri Lanka Army to train US Army

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka Army Commander Lt. Col. Jagath Jayasuriya said that Sri Lanka Army will provide a special training to the United States Army on the request of the latter.

He said that many other countries also have requested for training opportunities from Sri Lanka Army.

A training programme has been prepared in this regard, the Army Commander revealed. Sri Lanka Army is to impart military education regarding civilian rescue, jungle combat, and guerilla warfare etc. to the foreign armed personnel.

Sri Lanka Army was highly successful in its operations following resumption of hostilities in 2006. The Army's forward march was unstoppable for the Tamil Tiger rebels and the states forces cleared nearly one third of the country that was under the rebel control within three years.

In May 2009, the Sri Lankan armed forces destroyed the local leadership of the Tamil rebel group, Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and ended the three decade war in the island.

India extends ban on LTTE for two more years

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 14, Colombo: The Central Government of India on Friday extended the ban on Sri Lanka's Tamil terrorist group Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) by two years.

Issuing a brief statement India's Ministry of Home Affairs described the separatist group as an unlawful association.

"The notification to this effect was issued today," the statement said.

The ban is based on an intelligence report that the LTTE is re-organizing in Tamil Nadu with the support of certain Tamils there.

India initially banned the Tamil Tigers in 1992 under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act following the assassination of Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1991. The Central government since then has been extending the ban every two years.

Sri Lanka vanquished the Tamil Tiger outfit a year ago by completely eliminating its senior leaders including the founder Velupillai Prabhakaran.

However, the supporters of the separatist group in other countries are trying to revive the outfit, intelligence reports reveal. The Tigers are banned in 33 countries including USA, Canada, European Union, and Britain.

Think-tank for Ministry of External Affairs

By Natasha Gunaratne

Minister of External Affairs G.L. Peiris this week invited academics and intellectuals to contribute towards enhancing the government’s foreign policy objectives and reiterated his intentions of establishing a ‘think tank’ at the Ministry on foreign policy issues. Addressing academics, intellectuals and former senior officials of Ministry, Prof Peiris said contributions by a ‘think-tank’ towards achieving the government’s long term foreign policy objectives would be of significant value to the Ministry.

According to a press release by the Ministry, Prof Peiris also stated that the External Affairs Ministry would establish links with universities, academics and intellectuals in their areas of expertise and identify disciplines which are relevant to the Ministry. He stated that the work connected to a ‘think-tank’ would be a consistent one and the process would continue.

During his address, the External Affairs Minister also stated that Sri Lanka would take over the Chair of the G-15 Summit to be held in Iran. He said that when President Mahinda Rajapaksa takes over the chairmanship of this regional grouping, Sri Lanka would be able to explore opportunities prevailing in the region, work towards maximizing benefits to all the members and address the aspirations of the developing world.

The Minister also stated that the inclusion of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) and the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Agency (SLFEA) under the responsibilities of the Ministry of External Affairs has opened a vista of opportunities to utilize the reservoir of skills which are available in Sri Lanka. Prof Peiris said the remittances by expatriate workers to the country’s economy was only second to the revenue brought in by the apparel sector and pointed out that with the SLBFE and the SLFEA coming within the purview of the External Affairs Ministry, more opportunities for Sri Lankan nationals to work abroad would be further explored.

However, the rest remembers how LTTE terrorist killed hundreds and thousands of civilians, children, and infants by beheading, slicing, chopping, by dropping infants on hard surfaces, bus bombs, car bombs, etc. Corporal Gamini Kularatne is an outstanding hero of Sri Lankan history of 2550 years. Just like many other social cancers and religious fundamentalists who takes every opportunity to tarnish Mother Lanka and her heroic children, Kusal Perera will have a place in the garbage bins of Sri Lankan history reserved for subhuman refuse.

We shouldn't "train" them.
Why give our skills to them? Considering what they have done to save their pet Tigers along with facilitating Tamilia's barbarity (which reflects on the fact they endorse and encourage such).

Besides they are only good for butchering civilians and calling it "collateral damage".

My take on DBSJs article on Guardian.

----------------------------------
One thing is that he has been very honest in his assesment of the current dilema the Tamil people are facing. Also he is advocating the Tamils to solve their issues within SL instead of trying to get the Western Involvement. Therefore we must give credit to him for his frankness, which would alienate some Tamils.

Also it is not a bad thing to let Tamil people have a dream (the dream of Federalism) for the time being. This will them a lesser dream to focus on and would give us a necessary respite from all the Sabotaging activities that Diaspora are involved in.

Once the country start developing, and brainwashed Tamils start to understand that we in SL do not discriminate against Tamil Race, it would not be that difficult to solve the current problem without having to resolve to Federalism or Devolution.

Patriots,

I read several articles today at the Sri Lanka Guardian. The authors are a curious mix. The preponderance of articles inimical to Sri Lanka's integrity at this site makes me seriously doubt whether they are trying to "Guard" Sri Lanka, or Destroy it!

There are articles by Dayan Jayatilleke, B. Raman, Thomas Johnpulle, Shelton Gunaratne, Satheesan Kumaaran, and a whole host of others.

Satheesan Kumaran is one of those incurably disappointed Eelamists for whom the Sinhala devil has done a "1983" again and killed 40,000 Tamils in Eelam War IV. Fiction envelops his mind as he plies the Eelamist agenda, exaggerating every manufactured "fact" to leverage its full potential to crucify the Sinhala people.

Dayan Jayatilleke sees a "magical" silver lining in popular sentiment in both Sinhala and Tamil communities for a regional "power sharing agreement". He has clearly taken leave of his senses in ignoring that the root of this conflict lay in that jaundiced concept of regional power sharing that would inevitably lead to separatism in the future, just as the federalist agenda of the past led to a full blown separatist war. The man is clearly delusional and has forgotten that our multitude of dead Rana Viru heroes sacrificed their lives to prevent precisely that, as he presents academically precise arguments. What has happened to this man, I wonder!

Then there is that prophet of doom, the inestimable B. Raman, formerly an apparatchik of the India's RAW, who proclaimed the equivalence of the Battle of Stalingrad and the Battle of Kilinochchi. As a result of his vast knowledge on all matters military, he was convinced beyond doubt that Kilinochchi would be the graveyard of the Sri Lanka Army.

This man has the absolute chutzpah to be submitting articles to the "Sri Lanka GUARDIAN" with his role in training and depositing LTTE terrorists in Sri Lanka and then making foolish military forecasts to swing the balance in favor of his pet terrorists. A guardian of Sri Lanka .. my bloody foot! He should crawl into a hole and pull it in after him.

Ananda-USA said...

Critique of Sri Lanka Guardian articles

.......continued .........
Finally, there is a curious article by Thomas Johnpulle, who begins by proclaiming V-T day (May 18th) as a sad day for the Tamil people who have lost "so much".

I quote from his article "Sri Lanka can legitimately hold a victory day parade and other celebrations but it is inevitable North-East Tamils are going to get hurt. Those who feel hurt cannot be labelled as Tigers since all sections of the North-East Tamil community went through a very bad patch in March-May 2009.

There is nothing to celebrate in that. Celebrations open up old wounds. It is therefore advisable that the government cancels the planned celebrations and instead give priority to religious observations and campaigns to rebuild the lives of soldier families. "

Nothing could be further from the truth .. there is MUCH TO BE CLEBRATED on V-T day for ALL Sri Lankans, irrespective of community. It only needs honesty on the part of every resident of Sri Lanka to see that.

The Tamil people have been liberated from the clutches of a murderous organization that enslaved them, wiped out their leaders who had been accepted as leaders with their consent, drove a large portion of their people to live among the "diabolical enemy" in the South, kidnapped and conscripted their children to serve as cannon fodder, and held them as hostages in a human shield to save their own miserable lives.

The only arguable benefit Tamils derived from these saviors of the Tamils was that over a million of them were smuggled abroad under various pretenses to serve as a captive tax base to fund their murder and mayhem in Sri Lanka.

Given that record of ill treatment by their self-appointed "saviours", we can say that the Tamils have MUCH TO BE GRATEFUL FOR for the eradication of the LTTE by the GOSL, and their deliverance from their largely self-inflicted servitude.

Why then, I ask, should not the Tamils join the Sinhala and Muslim people in celebrating V-T day with poojas and prayers, with te-deum invocations and the ringing of church bells?

If they do not do so, it is because they are eternally ungrateful .. now that they are out of the frying pan .. they want to enjoy the exclusive benefits of the monoethnic apartheid Eelam promised by the now defunct Sun God while they were being slowly grilled over the fire.

Such is the ingratitude and selective memory of the typical Eelamist.

Mercifully, Thomas Johnpulle goes onto deliver a message of ethnic harmony that can be achieved through community integration for the rest of the article. The beginning of his article, however, only reinforced the double standards that Eelamist Tamils routinely adopt to justify their actions by exaggerating their hurt, and wailing their incurable sorrow. It is all a ploy to gain that Eelam that has receded over the horizon away from their greedy grasp.

It is about time that the Tamil people took a long hard look at their own culpability in the events of the past, and adjusted to life as equal citizens of Sri Lanka in One Nation as One people, sharing One Destiny without continuously jockeying for position to resurrect their vanished dream of an apartheid Eelam in Sri Lanka.

73,000 IDPs still remain in IDP camps in Sri Lanka's North

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 16, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government says that 73,000 displaced persons still remain in Internally Displaced Persons camps in the North one year after the end of the war between the security forces and the Tamil rebel group LTTE.

Deputy Resettlement Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan has reportedly said that the government's resettlement process was on track and attributed the delay in completing the process to the de-mining programme carried out in many areas in the North.

He has said that following the end of the war in May last year, there were 280,000 displaced persons in the Wanni area alone.

According to him, 80 percent of the areas in the North have been de-mined, enabling the resettlement process to continue without any hindrance.

Muralitharan has observed that the remaining de-mining work is being carried out in areas in Mullaitivu, Thunukkai and Kilinochchi. Many IDPs have already been resettled in Vavuniya North, Kilinochchi, Mannar, and certain areas in Mullaitivu.

He has further observed that most of the war-affected persons in the North, lack basic facilities like permanent housing, electricity, water, education facilities, and livelihood development programmes.

"Several funding agencies, like the World Bank, USAID, UNHCR and Save the Children are working in these areas," he has said, adding that there is a requirement of 170,000 permanent houses for displaced people in the North and East.

"In the East, there is a requirement of about 17,000 houses, while the rest are the requirement in the North," he has explained.

"The World Bank through the North and East Rehabilitation Fund (NERF) has already built 58,000 houses in the North and East and is in the process of addressing the housing needs of the war-displaced," the Deputy Minister has noted.

Following the end of the war, the resettlement of the war-displaced became a post war crisis faced by the country, which also raised widespread international concern. The announcement and celebrations of liberation were soon overcome by calls to rehabilitate and resettle thousands of persons displaced in the North and East due to the three decade-long war.

Expatriate Eelam Tigers: There they go again!

The Tiger remnants of Scarborough
Toronto’s North York and Markham
Flock they will for Washington DC
To celebrate Duke of York’s march

Nay, Apologies; Prabakaran’s heroism
And proclaim a Government in Exile
And flock back again across the border
To promote Tiger terrorism in Canada

Now what did the Duke of York do to be remembered by some Canadian Tamils who said good bye to Sri Lanka most by devious means that they could not tolerate the terrorism of the Tigers of the LTTE in Sri Lanka? In fact it was on this they based their refugee claims; at least nearly all of them. The real refugees are the devastated people in Sri Lanka who were victims of a protracted civil war without a political solution because the Canadian Tamil Diaspora, while helping to develop an underground LTTE network in Canada, US and even in Europe and other places involved in alien smuggling, illegal arms trade, drugs, currency and credit card fraud and other unsavory activities, placed lethal weapons in the hands of Velupillai Prabhakaran.

The toll of lives as a result in Sri Lanka was monumental apart from destruction of property, homes, farms and infrastructures. These Diaspora people supporting the Tigers are not Sri Lankans anymore. In Sri Lanka the legitimately elected representatives especially the TNA are taking up the Tamil cause in the proper way now and there is every promise of some kind of a solution that could be politically acceptable to the minority community.

But whoever is championing the cause of the LTTE in North America must be watched carefully by the governments of the US and Canada. It was there neglect and indeed even support for such organizations that enabled the LTTE in Sri Lanka to wreck the country with terror and also render the large Tamil population in Canada to cow down in fear: fear of reprisals from the Tigers who had become rooted in North Ameruca.
If only the Government of Canada ordered an investigation into the founding of the Tamil Eelam Society, the massive federal and provincial grants it received every year, how the organization was run under the total domination of the LTTE and eventually going bankrupt will reveal how terror roots were nourished in Canada. No amount of impressions given to the government helped to control this vermin.

Today the organizations like the Canadian Tamil Congress (CTC) headed by David Poopalapillai that has denied constantly as having anything to do with the LTTE are at the forefront of doing everything possible to energize the Tiger remnants. In fact they were out and out LTTE all the time. This weekend they are Washington bound in charter buses to demonstrate for an LTTE-led Tamil Eelam in Sri Lanka and to express support for the activities of the World Tamil Forum, a notorious LTTE body that promotes terrorism on all fronts.

Expatriate Eelam Tigers: There they go again!

.........continued........
Many Tiger remnants from other countries where considerable numbers of Tamils have made their homes, it has been reported, are also arriving in Washington to participate in the march that will take them from the White House to the War Memorial. Supporters in Canada are being taken their at a subsidized rate of $40 00 for travel both ways, food and washroom facilities. They have also said that the weather would be warm but the campaign would be so intensive that both President Barrack Obama and Prime Minister Stephen Harper will wake up to the reality that theirs is a just cause, violent or not, and the “Stateless Government” they elected is no face but a unique government, the first of its type in human history and therefore a plus point for the Tiger remnants of the Tamil Diaspora.

The War Memorial represents a place that marks victory over extreme intolerance and indeed terrorism of a kind too. It is a sacred place to remember those who lost their lives against such forces. Why should the LTTE want to despoil and abuse this memorial when they have been such a horrendous terror force in Sri Lanka and commemorate the life and times of Prabhakaran and his brand of terrorism? There are 100,000 traumatized children and young people in Sri Lanka and they have to be cared for and protected, a chance given to them to recover and help build a new hope for them. Their needs and interests mean nothing for these demonstrators now on their way to Washington.

They will come back Sunday and continue their clandestine activities for a banned terror organization and they also know the Government of Canada will not take any action against them. Twelve months later, like the Grand of Old Duke of York with his ten thousand men will go to Washington again still supporting the LTTE and may even cause a resurgence of this terror organization which will only make it impossible for the Government of Sri Lanka to trust the Tamils there. This is what these Tiger supporters want and knowingly or unknowingly this is what the Governments of Canada and USA probably wants; if so for what reasons.

However, it is appropriate to remember the Grand Old Duke of York, whoever he was because the Canadian government donated millions for such a “march” that was led by the Tamil Eelam Society, run and later run down by a band of rogues who enriched themselves illegally on the Canadian taxpayers while promoting terror interests everywhere. This must come to an end.

The grand old Duke of York,
He had ten thousand men;
He marched them up to the top of the hill,
And he marched them down again.

And when they were up, they were up,
And when they were down, they were down,
And when they were only half-way up,
They were neither up nor down.

Sri Lanka wants to buy back national carrier from Emirates

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

May 15, Colombo: Sri Lanka has offered Dubai's Emirates Airline $55 million to buy back the 43.6 percent stake it holds on Si Lanka's national carrier, a media report said.

"Sri Lanka is going to buy it ... $55 million is the price we have indicated," Finance and Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundara has told Reuters news agency in an interview.

Sri Lankan government has been negotiating with Emirates to buy its stake since the beginning of this year.

The Emirates had no immediate comments but earlier it had said that it was willing to sell the stake at the right price.

Sri Lankan Government in 1998 signed an agreement for a ten-year strategic partnership with the Emirates for the Dubai-based airline to purchase 40 percent stake of the national carrier worth US$70 million. Emirates later increased the stake to 43.6 percent.

Although the Sri Lankan government retained the majority stake, it gave full control on investment and management decisions to Emirates.

In 2008, Sri Lankan government notified Emirates Airlines that it will not renew the management contract once it expires on March 31, 2008. In December 2007 the government decided to revoke the work permit of Emirates-appointed SriLankan's CEO Peter Hill.

Emirates handed over the management control of SriLankan to the government of Sri Lanka from April 1, 2008.

According to the Reuters' report, Emirates has been trying to sell all or part of the stake since 2008, which had previously been valued at about $150 million.

Jayasundara has said that the deal is almost finalized and the government is seeking a strategic partner.

"We are looking for a strategic partner or somebody from the government to take that (the stake) and maintain the commercial character of SriLankan (Airlines)," he was quoted.

The government will facilitate the transfer "to Bank of Ceylon or somebody who can basically participate in a business," Jayasundara has told the Reuters.

PTGTE latest ruse to perpetuate terrorist struggle – Ambassador Ariyasinhe

Speaking at the “2010 Diplomatic Security Conference on the Terrorism Situation and Trends in the EU”, Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the EU Ravinatha Aryasinha said the LTTE’s initiative to forming a so called “Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam” (PTGTE), with “country working groups” at national and regional levels in western countries was a ruse to perpetuate its terrorist struggle, and has urged the European governments not to provide any political or symbolic support towards these moves.

The Conference, attended by politicians, diplomats, academics, and members of the law enforcement and criminal justice community, was co-hosted by the European Corporate Security Association (ECSA) and the Belgian Foreign Ministry.

Ambassador Aryasinha observed that these bodies constituted through pseudo elections and comprising largely of known LTTE members/activists, was being used by many Tamils who have entered western countries illegally, and who would in the normal course of events be sent back home given the restoration of normalcy in Sri Lanka, to keep the pot boiling and to seek to remain relevant in countries where they have sought asylum.

He made these observations at the “2010 Diplomatic Security Conference on the Terrorism Situation and Trends in the EU” held at the Colonial Palace in Brussels on 11 May 2010, where the findings of Europol’s EU Terrorism Situation and Trend Report (TESAT) 2010 was discussed.

The detailed intervention made by Ambassador Aryasinha follows:

“Sri Lanka’s story in fighting terrorism is instructive to this forum for two reasons. The phenomenal success of the ground battle with the LTTE is well known and that was won decisively exactly a year ago. But what we often pay little attention to, is the fact that the LTTE was not just a terrorist force, but also a very efficient network which spanned the globe and could fool a lot of people. Their organization was diversified, the assets were scattered, and they operated through numerous front organizations and operatives. Therefore, while their leaders may be gone and their central command disrupted, we must not lose sight of the fact that they still have a lot of money, expertise and contacts, particularly in your part of the world.

When I was asked at a Seminar on the LTTE organized by Europol in December 2008, as to what will happen if the LTTE was defeated in Sri Lanka, I remarked “it is then that your problem will begin”: and in a sense that has come to be true. Since 18 May 2009 there has not been a single bullet fired in Sri Lanka on account of terrorism. But when I look around in your part of the world, over the past few months, I see arrests and convictions of LTTE activists taking place at regular intervals. Mention has already been made in the Europol’s TESAT 2010 Report of the conviction of a former LTTE leader in the UK, and the November 2009 action by a Paris court banning the CCTF and convicting of 21 LTTE activists for upto 7 years – which Eurojust says was the most significant judicial action related to terrorist financing that has taken place in Europe. Additionally, it must be noted that in March 2010 Germany arrested 7 and since then 2 others for pro-LTTE activity, while in April 2010 the Netherlands arrested 7 for the same reason. Additionally, we are aware that counter terrorism action has been taken against LTTE activists in Denmark, Italy and Norway. It is anyone’s guess where the next arrests would be, but there sure will be, because those of you familiar with the terrain know that what we have seen so far is merely the tip of an iceberg concerning the LTTE and its operations in Europe.

Ananda-USA said...

PTGTE latest ruse to perpetuate terrorist struggle – Ambassador Ariyasinhe

..........continued 1..........

Lest it is glossed over, a point I want to emphasise is that none of these persons arrested so far carried name boards saying LTTE, but each and every one of them belonged to prominent front organizations which were integrally linked to the LTTE - be they the Tamil Rehabilitation Organization (TRO/ORT), the Coordinating Committee of Tamils in France (CCTF/TCC), the Tamil Youth Organization (TYO), the Tamil Women’s Organization (TVO), the Tamil Arts and Cultural Organization (TKCO), the United Tamil Organization in the UK and the British Tamil Association (BTA). The failure to have acted against these front organizations earlier, could prove to be a costly mistake.

In the past, when we cautioned western governments of the threat the LTTE and its front organizations posed and asked for their help to solve the problem, it fell on deaf ears. We were given many excuses as to why you couldn’t act. In an address at an Eurojust Tactical Meeting on the “LTTE Front Organizations” a little over an year ago (31 March 2009) I focused on this lacuna as being rooted in 3 “false dichotomies” I detected in Europe’s “Fight Against Terrorism” : whether terrorist groups/individuals were merely under investigation or had been convicted, the threat posed as judged by law enforcement agencies as opposed to politicians interested in vote blocks, and pitting countering terrorism against protection of freedom of expression.

I am glad to see that Europe is now more actively trying to grapple with these issues. Today, at least from a Sri Lankan stand point I could safely say that you are more vigilant, picking up more suspects, dismantling cells, and are asking for the help of our intelligence operatives in trying to understand the modus operandi of the LTTE. Though somewhat late, these no doubt are important steps.

Ananda-USA said...

PTGTE latest ruse to perpetuate terrorist struggle – Ambassador Ariyasinhe

........continued 2....
But even as you do so, beyond the fund raising that continues unabated, there remain many threats looming in your part of the world as the pro-LTTE Tamil factions are rapidly adjusting to stay below your radar. There is the mushrooming of the Madrassa type ‘Tamil Cholai’ schools that glorify terrorism and martyrdom– students of which were recently convicted in Norway for vandalizing the Sri Lanka Embassy. There is much activity connected with cyber terror going on. And the latest ruse being used to continue LTTE activity through other means is the LTTE’s initiative to form a “Provisional Transnational Government of Tamil Eelam” (PTGTE), with country working groups at national and regional levels in western countries. The latter is particularly sinister, for these bodies constituted through pseudo elections, and comprising largely of known LTTE members or activists who seek to perpetuate the terrorist struggle, is a means by which large numbers of Tamils who have entered your countries illegally and who in the normal course of events are likely to be sent back home given the restoration of normalcy in Sri Lanka, to keep the pot boiling and to seek to remain relevant in countries where they have sought asylum.

Now whether your countries choose to allow such persons to exploit your liberal systems is a question which you have to answer. But I’d dare to say it would be in your enlightened self interest to make a concerted effort to isolate from the rest of the respected Sri Lankan Tamil expatriate community, the pro- LTTE elements who have the propensity to cause harm in your societies, possibly joining together with like minded international terrorists. Sri Lanka’s plea is that the EU and its member countries proscribe all LTTE front organizations, maintain strict vigil over their activities, continue to bring to justice those violating the law and not provide any political or symbolic support to their abuse of your systems using various pretenses.

So as the only non-European speaker invited to join this panel, I wish to salute the ladies and gentlemen who are trying to grapple with the problem of terrorism in Europe and wish them success in their endavours. Coming from a country which knows how difficult the challenge is, and has also proved that it can be overcome, I want to assure you that the Government of Sri Lanka which over the years has acquired considerable experience in this field, stands ready and willing to share its knowledge and expertise with the rest of the international community and that you can count on us in your fight against terrorism.”

Then again this is BBC Sinhala which never has anything good to say about Sinhalese. The editor is a JVP/ Trotskyite type mutt cum bogus journalist called Priyatha Liyanage who is a real pile of shit that the BBC never removes as he dutifully follows there leftwing thinking. (This monkey’s only real qualification is as a male nurse, carried out crimes in 71 then ran away from the Police by claiming asylum claiming to be a journalist so he could spread his propaganda. He was with Sommanwansa, naturally Britain harbours all and sundry if it means destroying a nation and people somewhere so long as it does not harm them).

There is no Law, no Justice...Everywhere anarchy. If you are a politician you can do everything. Nice guy Sanath also now in this corrupt game called politics...What a shame

Madhu”

Typical monkey. He “hates” the country because his bloody UNP is not in power.

It is amazing these people actually preferred the LTTE to exist than the nation and people to be rid of them just so Ranil/UNP can have some kind of political tool of survival. It is sickening that people wanted our own Army defeated and the LTTE to win just because “they are UNP” and hated the thought of SLFP getting “credit” for winning the war which would be translated into electoral success. That is all they could think about, grabbing power.

Only in Sri Lanka are such scum born.

These thick fools did not realise their attempt to stop the war to deprive the UPFA of election benefits from such a victory only resulting in the exact opposite happening, where their actions achieved the very goal they tried to prevent with the UPFA getting maximum credit. Had they supported the war effort the UNP could have also basked in its glory, but for their own perverse reasons and mental slavery they did not and have now gone out of their way to destroy and tarnish this beautiful achievement made by our soldiers because they think they cannot enjoy and be proud of it as they view it as an achievement of the UPFA. These morons do not realise our soldiers fought and died for no party or politicians but for the nation and her people, including these worthless dogs who did their maximum to stop the war effort and increase causalities and sufferings of our soldiers and people.

"ICG takes Sri Lanka to task?

by a special correspondent

The International Crisis Group (ICG) will publish a report calling for an international inquiry into alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.

They have sought information from Sarath Fonseka, the former Commander of the Army but none of the allegations framed by the ICG curiously touches Fonseka except to state that he was informed but they have named and charged the present Commander Jagath Jayasuriya with specific allegations.

Legal circles have expressed understanding as to why the ICG makes no allegations against Commander Fonseka, Head of the Army at the time of the battle but instead targets the present Army Commander Jagath Jayasuriya, the Wanni Commander during the conflict, in the allegation sheet.

The possible explanation according to lawyers is that they propose to rely on Fonseka’s testimony/material to charge the present Commander.

A Colombo lawyer said that the ICG appears to be playing war games in throwing darts at the present Commander, wistfully contemplating that Fonseka will come to their assistance as information is sought from him. The co-chair of the ICG is Lord Chris Patton where the Island newspaper (May 5, 2010) had asserted that the UN should have intervened under the R2P doctrine during the conflict to save civilians.

The President/Chief Executive Officer is Louise Arbour and the President Emeritus is former Australian Minister Gareth Evans.

The triumvirate of the ICG is ‘famed’ for their frequent hostile observations on Sri Lanka, giving rise to suspicion on the bonafides of the ICG and the credibility of the report.

The ICG has pronounced that they have “collected evidence that provides reasonable grounds to believe that senior government and military officials may be held criminally responsible for these actions”.

Those privy to the allegations said that they relate to shelling hospitals, firing at UN supplies, attacking civilians and shooting into the No Fire Zone.

A legal luminary from Hultsdorf said that the credibility of the ICG report is at stake as ICG personnel have made hostile expressions on Sri Lanka’s conduct of the conflict and the public perception is that their report will be unfairly hostile and cannot be relied upon.

To gain credibility for itself, ICG may possibly fault the extinct LTTE too, for the sake of a balancing act, knowing well in the absence of personnel or an organisation, no action can be taken against the LTTE.

Someone should park a white van in front of the Upali papers:

"Differing views on this week’s V-Day celebration are inevitable and this newspaper today publishes a viewpoint that in the context of the Truth and Reconciliation effort that has been launched by the president, such celebrations are best avoided"

Why not give a seperate state? I am sure that will help with "reconciliation".

"It was often correctly said that although every terrorist was a Tamil, all Tamils were not terrorists. In fact a large proportion of the country’s Tamils lived in peace and harmony among the Sinhalese majority. Yet we must admit that there have been atrocities committed against the Tamil population by Sinhalese – albeit a very small minority – in July 1983 and in other communal riots earlier in the post-Independence period. The result was that the LTTE, affectionately regarded as ``the boys’’ even by leaders of the TULF, in its resort to violence was able to win both covert and overt support of many Tamils who felt that ``our boys are giving it back to them.’’ Such sentiments, naturally, were resented by those near and dear to the victims as well as the larger population. But this is not a time for the cancer of triumphalism to be allowed to take root and we must guard against any such tendency."

LOL@ that ^^.

Its always about "Tamil feelings". Cue the violins.

ICG Report: Sri Lanka guilty of war crimes?

........
........
........
Though ICG in its introduction boast of a 'non -governmental' character, Source Watch has traced that it raises funds from governments and its prime sources of funding includes the governments of US, UK, Norway, Sweden Canada, Denmark, France, Germany and Australia. It is estimated 40% of its funding comes from State funds.

Its funding sources include George Sores Open Society Institute, Ford Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Henry Luce Foundation and United States Institute of Peace [ source: Spin Watch in the article-Who pays the Piper? by Jan Oberg-Director Transnational Foundation for Peace and Future].

George Soros, executive member, foundation trustee and long time core supporter of ICG and founder of one of its prime financiers Open Society Institute is known as "the man who broke the Bank of England" due to his sudden withdrawal of US $ 10 billion worth of pounds sterling. This led to the Bank of England withdrawing the currency from the European Exchange Rate Mechanism leading to the devaluation of the pound sterling. It is reported George Soros earned an estimated US $ 1.1 billion in the process and it cost the Treasury UK pounds 3.4 billion.

Former Prime Minister of Malaysia during the Asian financial crisis accused Soros of using his wealth under his control to punish ASEAN for inviting Myanmar as a member and for unbalancing the Asian currency markets.

In 1988 French courts fined him US $2.3 million for charges of insider information.

In the US George Soros has been highly criticized for avoiding tax payments.

In September 2002 George Soros Open Society Institute, a main funding source for ICG, gave US $ 20000 to the Defense Committee lawyer Lynne Steward who defended terrorists in court and was sentenced to 28 months prisons sentence for providing material support for a terrorist conspiracy. (Source: Material on Wikipedia)

This reveals funding sources of the ICG are of a suspicious nature and dubious character; at times its funding sources appear to be tilted in favor of terrorist objectives.

Diana Johnston [Emperors New Clothes- 28.Feb.2000] described ICG as a " high-level think tank supported by George Soros.... {devised} primarily to provide policy guidance to governments involved in the NATO-led reshaping of the Balkans" ...which led to the creation and the recognition of Kosovo as a "state", just as the LTTE attempted to create a state of Eelam.

---------------------------------
Good work defence.lk. We should go on the front foot and attack. As I mentioned earlier, the best way is to destroy the credibility of these people and the people who are funding these organizations. It is clear that people who funded Terrorist are the ones who are supporting war crimes charges. None of these people allowed to go free. We should thoroughly investigate these individuals and try to identify the skeletons in their closets. If our intelligence agents put some efforts we should be able to dig lot of dirt in these peoples lives. Then start publishing them.

The same way we destroy Rajarathnam, we should be able to destroy few of the people who are behind these moves. This way people would think twice before they start taking on governments.

Thusita,

Not only that.

You have got to fire the accusation right back at them.

After Kili fell these NGOs (AI, HRW, ICG) were screaming "war crimes" long before any conditions for suc existed. Naturally the West with Tamilia were engineering such conditions.

ICG back in January last year held a press conferences and yelled "war crimes".

The only way to counter there bs against us is to attack them and state clearly they are the ones who working in collusion with the LTTE spearheaded the more to create a human shield thus engineering a humanitarian catastrophe to justify intervention to save the LTTE leadership and pro-long war, misery and human rights violations in SL.

Then link in how Tamilia operate in the West.
LTTE being a pivotal foreign policy tool for them.
Plus all their bs statements against us.

All responsibility for any civilian deaths is suddhas.

@Moshe,

Told you these para suddhas would not give up. Question is the Government ready to fight back?

They were barking like mad. BBC were broadcasting Tamil propaganda including something straight from Prabas mouth which was being censored by the SLBC (rightfully so) which caused the "problem".

When the issue was resolved in typical "full imperial" style they slapped down a demand saying they "expect the Government to uphold their end of the agreement for broadcasting blah blah blah". Still they think we need to bow our heads to them, worse are Sinhalese who think we should.

Need to tell the BBC to beat it. Do we really need this crap service operating from SL? It is not as if their presence in Sri Lanka actually makes a difference, they report bs regardless.

Should defiantly tax to the maximum their operations. Seize their compound in a drugs bust. I'd love to see those fags hauled out and kicked into a van to be taken to Remand like the dogs they are. In fact should get the Canine division (needed for sniffing out drugs) vehicles to make the trip to remand with these ballas in the cages.

Can always plant the evidence.

BBC certainly has an anti-SL agenda. and now the ICJ guys too.

but we shouldn't generalise.

e.g. US and SL hold military knowkedge sharing at the same time

i don't believe ICJ anti-SL buggers are MAINLY driven by anti-SL sentiments and the need of some of their financiers to divide SL.

they are also driven by persistent TE lobby and sympathisers.

the ONLY way to manage the TE lobby is to aggressively colonize the north. this FORCES them to come to some level of "agreement" or understanding with GOSL.

there is no other way.

it is like retaliation of LTTE attacks by SLDFs. match violence with violence. match aggression with aggression.

/Report Holds Sri Lanka to Account for Deaths

By LYDIA POLGREEN
Published: May 16, 2010

NEW DELHI — Tens of thousands of Tamil civilians died in the last, bloody months of Sri Lanka’s civil war, the International Crisis Group said in an investigative report to be released Monday, most of them as a result of government shelling of areas that were supposed to be safe zones.

The report, which cites witness testimony, satellite images, documents and other evidence, calls for a wide-reaching international investigation into what it calls atrocities committed in the last months of the Sri Lankan government’s war against the Tamil Tiger insurgency.

...

Because the government barred independent journalists and most humanitarian workers from the war zone, the death toll of the final months of fighting, when at least 300,000 Tamil civilians were pinned down on a beach, caught between the rebels and government forces, is not known./

to do that, we have to force them to have some form of communication with the govt ON OUR TERMS.

there is NOTHING we have that can control the TE die-arse-pora.

except our ability to colonize.

they fear colonization most. they know war crimes crap is temporary but colonization is permanant. irreversible.

using that we should put pressure on them to come to an understanding.

1. GOSL aggressively colonize the north

2. TED (TE die-arse-pora) comes begging to GOSL and agree to stop anti-SL BS. in return GOSL scales down colonization.

3. if any anti-SL BS takes place, GOSL restarts mass colonization.

4. if such BS stops, gosl again scales it back.

5. this way TE die-arse-pora will ENSURE there is nothing bad coming from their jokers. if not, they will be the losers!!

1. "The possibility of the LTTE having moles came to light way back in April 2006 when the government ordered retaliatory air strikes following an abortive bid to assassinate the then Lt. Gen. Sarath Fonseka. The LTTE had used a public address system to alert the civilians of an imminent air strike about 30 minutes before Kfirs approached the area. It had been the first air strike targeting the LTTE after several years and the LTTE could not have had any other way to receive a warning than through an informant."

few things.

RETALIATION - i LOVE it, still.

a kfair takes 10-15 minutes to reach trinco where we retaliated. tigers would never have known it 30 minutes b4 bcos at that time the planes were on ground!!

OTOH even if they suspected our assault, they didn't know when.

some MF informed them.

2. "The subsequent seizure of an LTTE vessel (Princess Chrishantha) in Indonesian territorial waters by an undercover squad of Navy personnel highlighted the importance of special operations.

Although the full details of the operation cannot still be divulged, the country could be proud of their unprecedented achievement, perhaps the most difficult operation conducted in foreign territory.

Had any one of them fell to government authorities, he would have had to serve a prison term."

3. Speaking on the condition of anonymity a senior official says a full picture of operations undertaken by intelligence service may never be made public. He said: "It was a difficult war due to many factors, including foreign interference and a section of the opposition playing politics."

Responding to a query by The Island, he said that the recent assassination of a top Hamas commander allegedly by the Israeli Intelligence underscored the high level of commitment on the part of personnel engaged in such operations.

jayawewa!!!

4. Foreign intelligence services routinely use women to trap government officials and the possibility of some of our own personnel being victims of such operations could not be ruled out against the backdrop of a claim by Minister Dallas Alahapperuma that some of his UPFA colleagues may have been targeted by foreign prostitutes working for the 'enemy.'

"Any idea when all these suddhas going to stop telling rest of the world what to do when to do and how to do..? Any guess..?"

----------------------------------
The maximum is 20-40 years. Only thing that makes Suddhas powerful is their hold on Financial Markets. Their hold on financial markets is gone now.
As I mentioned earlier, US currency will collapse very soon and U.S. would go into a likely default. You might see U.S. rising against Euro right now, but not for too long.

What we need to watch out for is the closet gay guys, not that much about men having sex with prostitutes.

Actually, I think Europe is in worse trouble than the US, and is heading for a belly flop.

I don't think the real fear is Greece. The real fear is U.S. although lot of people believe the market movements are due to Greece.
That is the thing no fund manager want to talk about. Once Greece gets hits, every one will start panicking and start having a real look at U.S. Then U.S. credit Default swaps would sky rocket.

I do not know why Kalaignar Aiya [Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi] sent me back,” Parvathi Amma, mother of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) leader Velupillai Pirapaharan, admitted to Valveddiththu’rai (VVT) hospital told TamilNet Sunday. Being very frail after going through the ordeal of being sent back to Malaysia from Chennai and coming to Sri Lanka from Malaysia in her old age and paralyzed condition, she ended the conversation saying, “I went there only to get medical treatment.” Meanwhile, many Sinhalese journalists come to Jaffna to see her at the hospital and some of them touching her feet with reverence on leaving, moves the hearts of those around, hospital sources said.

Who are the Sinahalese Journalist who touched her feet in reverence? Is this a Tamilnut Joke or truth?

/Sources from Sirikotha say that a mud slinging campaign has been launched within the UNP against Sajith Premadasa claiming he had converted his religion and has become a member of the Assembly of God following pressure from his sister, Dulanjali Jayakody.

Some UNPers who are against Sajith have spread rumors that Sjaith has become a prisoner among his sister Dulanjali and UNP parliamentarians Rosy Senanayake and Eran Wickremaratne, who are all members of Assembly of God.

When inquired about this, a UNP parliamentarian loyal to

Ranil observed that although Eran is a member of Assembly of God, he was not a Sajith supporter./

One main reason we have hindu 'devala' in buddhist temples was wives of kandian kings were from india and they were hindu (though king was buddhist.)

Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday took over as the new chairman of the Group of 15, even as he asked for a “realistic and fruitful” dialogue with the developed countries. “In taking over the Chair, I commit to continuing to further strengthen the voice of our Group on the international stage,” he said here.../

Moshe,

"it's the bloody tamil elam sakkiliyas behind this, not suddas alone."

You're wrong here.

It is suddha who is doing this to punish Sinhala people for "defying" their "authority". They are using Tamilia as a conduit of interference. If suddha saw no use in Tamilia this would not be happening. suddha's NGOs would not wasting their time on requests from Tamilia.

All is planned carefully, Tamilia is just a convienet pawn as are our own traitors like Ranilam, Gonseka who's agenda's maybe different but coincide. Tamilia, Gonseka, Ranilam all means to an end for suddha.

Thusitha,

Greece is just the tip of the iceberg of a much more widespread malaise. There are many more dominos waiting to fall, like Portugal, Spain and Italy. Even the UK is quite shaky.

This Ejafjallajokul volcano disaster undermining air travel to Europe is not helping either.

There are only very few countries with firm economies in EU now .. Germany being the largest among these. These may not be able to dam the flood of red ink by the weaker EU countries.

On the other hand, if EU stumbles, the US may follow suit .. investor sentiment is a very fickle thing .. fear .. greed .. fear .. greed .. fear .. greed .. .. .

Investors are dumping the Euro bigtime even as we speak!
