Sarath's Guide of Hero to Zero in 21 Days - General commits political suicide

Two days ago, I was writing a post/comment on current political situation. I have been supportive to Mahinda over the time, and have been predicting his victory. Although the two matters of supporting and predicting are independant many took my posts for political propaganda. Nevertheless I promised that I'd write of any trends towards SF, if any were available.

Two days ago, I had facts to write about. It wasn't a wave as big as 2004 Boxing Day Clean Sweep, yet I met few people, notably non-UNPers, who were swaying for good reasons or bad reasons. General did almost nothing but Mahinda's stray dogs have been scoring for general. Let me note down what I observed, exactly until two days ago.

- People hated many stray dogs such as Mervyn/Hadda attacking general. Some patriorts in MR camp were shaky and kinda moving towards general for sympathy.

- Some lesser aware people were fooled by General's bogus campaign. There was a going rumor that "Executive President can abolish the rank Executive President". This is a blatent lie, but UNP lie machines have done their part. Many were deceived. And that covered the biggest flop in General's manifesto. Right or wrong general had scored.

- General's "something more than 13th" did not hit many minds. Many thought that "General will not betray nation" although he said so. Maybe many people wanted to give him a second chance.

- Defection of a top class political mastermind cum power hungry scum, S B Dissanayake. We all know he's like a compass turning towards power. I believe MR did the biggest mistake. For the short time goals he created the biggest risk for him - a Deva Datta among his ranks. Many ppl said that they don't want S B in ruling party, hence General gaining few votes.

- Scum S B calling General a "man like an animal", for which even I felt so disgusted.

- General's posters have been damaged or pictures are deformed. These kind of arrogant and stupid behavior taking every credit away from Mahinda.

I felt that at least few thousands from Mahinda's camp would have crossed.

And just when it was most critical, SF shot in his own butt and threw shit all over the house. First he made his remarkable comment on GR granting shoot-at-will commands against so called surrendering big Pussycats. Then he tried so synthetically and impractically to cover his nakedness leaving some endless questions in the mouths of many foreign parties.

Today, everything as two days ago, makes no sense. I need to rethink on my post. Few facts that arrived in.

- General did his first major betrayal. No matter what bad treatment he received, he is beyond all freedom to issue such news, had it even been true. There is a code of conduct, or ethical bond not to put the men of his previous command in trouble.

- And then he tried recovering, but simply told us that he, then Commander of Army, happened to believe in rumors about his own junior ranks as stated by some stray journalist [who had no guts to write it in public]. This is an utter mess.

- Imagine Gotabhaya Rajapakse ordered this killing of the leaders, bravo, the way to go.  Had we left the trio to get away, today the pussycats will be running under their command, and many 100s of soldiers civilians and pussycat hostages die on every passing day.

- Why should we allow a free passage for some masterminds whom scrificed poor school chrldren as cannon fodder? What assurance do you have that they are not using the white flags to launch a major attack? Why so late for surrender? So wasn't it so great if Gota ordered this, instead of allowing white masters to help pussycats once again?

General just told the whole nation that it was Gota, not him, who held a firm hand against Pussycats, hence winning the war for us. And he lost almost all of his worth in saying so.

And right now, I see a major shake in the patriotic support base of SF. For the first time, most initial supporters are considering their support. Most people who gave him a second chance for "more tahn 13th" are in the mood of deserting him.

It was all lost in one shot. Unless Mahinda's stray dogs score another own goal for General, this will remain the biggest damage by far to his campaign - an almost political suicide. Lots of damage control going, mainly with JVP who has better sense than UNP/Mangala, but little too late. Sunday Leader leads the damage as usual.

It is very non-defence like to discuss the porgress of Presidential capmapign here. But it is all the more defence related when a supposed to be responsible former commander betray his team with true or fake stories like this. As long as Army is taken for political mileage, the matter is defence related, and of the highest interest of national security.

And it is no longer common political mud slinging. What should await the General is a case in court for treason. Whatever you did for nation does not suffice to save you after this level of betrayal.

/Fonseka claims existence of a “list” targeting his supporters

By Kithsiri de Mel

Opposition Presidential candidate General Sarath Fonseka, speaking to reporters a short while ago, claimed there was a “list” put out by the government with names of opposition supporters who are to be targeted for their support to the General. He claimed that this “list” was now circulating via email./

GSL circulating email... HIKzz

Make much sense if Gonseka instead said;

"Fonseka, speaking to reporters a short while ago, claimed there was a “list” put out by Sam Perera with names of opposition supporters who are to be targeted for their support to the General. He claimed that this “list” was now circulating via email."

/Fonseka further said that he had asked SLFP (M) wing leader Mangala Samaraweera to be his campaign manager but so far Mr. Samaraweera has not accepted./

Gonseka should ask multipolar to be his campaign manager.. I bet he will do better job than Mongal.. Hikz

I would like to see MR to be humane, just, restrained, constrained and considrate.

However, I do not want him to be timid.

In personal life we may choose not to respond to attacks against us.

In public life, whenever an accusasion is made against you, you need to respond and defend instaneously and vigorously.

This does not mean MR should attack SF in the same way.

Without mud slinging, without risking to be seen as hateful and attacking the opponent with state powers, always weak points of SF needs to be used to MR's advantage.

For this kind of campaign to be effective the practice of being just and non-selective should have been practiced for a long time. I cannot see that it has been happening. Any thing like this done now can be percieved as attacks of a nondemocratic leader. What ever he does now must be strictly legal and necessary.

Yes Ninja this list must be SAM's JPB list but to confirm I have not counted the number of names in the list. Maybe Sam can confirm this.

Oh, I almost forgot Peter and the Diaspora Monkeys. Well, they can buy a Babycham from Tesco’s (now that they are banned from M&S) and celebrate at Parliament Square with the following song.
(sung to the tune of So this is Christmas by John Lennon)..Lyrics by the eelam maestro Madan Sethuruban/ TamilNet.TV

Peter:
So this is eelam..
Oh what have they done..
Our struggle is finished..
Our leader is gone..

Jay:
But we found eelam..
at the point of their guns...
the almighty feared ones
shot dead on the run..

Diapora Donkey Chorus:
But we'll always love eelam
that mythical land..
Stinking street corners
We shall always stand

Peter:
So this is eelam
Nowhere to be found
Before we could realize
it was bombed to the ground..

Jay:
And so we found eelam
after so much of fight
At the banks of Nadikandal
In the middle of the night

Diaspora Donkey chorus:
And we'll keep wanting eelam
living in white man's land
Cleaning their toilets
Till they give us a hand

All together:
So this is eelam
which we fought for so long
But the racist Singalams
proved to be too strong

But we'll always dream eelam
but not understand
Until we wake up..
To find it on our pants

Some UNP prophets say that every thing is pointing to resounding
victory for SF.

These UNP prophets have also repeatedly predicte LTTE win over the Government

The fall Government at the budget crisis

Loss of all PC elections by big margins

The Government also predicted each time the very opposite of UNP predictions

We know where the crdibility is.

This does not say muchabout the outcome of PE.

Nevertheless it says very mcuh about our opposition.

Ninja,

I have not seen a list Fonseka is talking about. However, it doesn't look like the JPB list.

He said that an ex-army major who was part of his political campaign was threatened, the Venerable Dambara Amila thero was arrested just days after he extended support to the General and several others are now next on the “list”

In any case, I want to know if this ex-army major is connected to Millennium City betrayal.

Sam only list that we know about your list. That is why we said that.

Any way there may be a truth in it when the AT about SF's possible quitting and possible JVP violence (DR. Nalin also tlaks about this latter) has any ground.

What's your guess on

1. RW
As he has chased away almost all his opponents he will be able to hang on to the UNP leadership for some more time.

2. UNP leadership
RW - if UPFA get 2/3 it might chnage
3. JVP on GE - contest alone or with koka
Probably a coaltion with UNP and other parties, if they come alone they will get only 1-2 seats.

4. GE result
Hard to say Ninja, UPFA very close to 2/3

5. PM post on new MR admin
signs so far says its Rathnasiri, might chnage after the PE

Outcome of PE is not about how popular MR or SF but how unpopular is MR and whether SF will be trusted by the masses or not.

We are an online community of patriots, some are living thousands of miles away from our motherland. We were brought together by the hunger to know about the progress of the devastating war in our country. When Rajapaksha regime refused to stop the offensive, we all felt that this would be the end of decades long war that devastated our country.

We flocked to defencewire blog eager to know whats happening at the front line, how can we help the soldiers who laid every thing they had for the future of our country.

We rejoiced together when we got to know the megalomaniac who had our country tormented had fallen.

Yet we kept visiting defencewire to express our opinions as we feel that there is much to be done to see lasting peace in our country.

Even when defencewire blogger had abandoned the site we managed to develop a new site and keep the enthusiasm and our hopes alive.

Slowly and steadily we managed to keep on moving.

My grattitute to you patriots, may you have a very happy and prosperous 2010

just think of these contradictions and conflicting views ?

General SF

“My personal view is the majority should provide protection to the minorities. Their political aspirations shall be fulfilled.”
“I am not a PhD in History. The 13th amendment which should provide the answer ought to be amended according to the current times. By discussion with all a solution should be sought.”

The JVP

The JVP does not accept any further tampering with the 13th Amendment to “fulfil the aspirations” of the minority communities. They have gone public saying they are against the full implementation of the 13 Amendment which includes police powers and lands.
Their 04 points put forward to General SF do not include anything about Tamil people or on reconciliation after the war. Only that IDPs have to be resettled, but how and on what conditions are never spelled out.
All JVP leaders speaking at the Hyde Park public rally on 30th Monday (one day after General SF spoke about the 13 Amendment) avoided mentioning anything on the 13th Amendment.

UNF/UNP

Seems very comfortable with anything as long as they could get into a government as the ruling entity.
General SF
Says thus in his maiden media brief. “….Somewhere around end of 2007, after about 02 years I commanded the army, I gave a promise, I will not hand over this war to the next Army Commander. To my successor. I gave this promise at a media gathering…I kept to that promise….If I didn’t complete the war,…..I would have been the Army Commander still….Most probably”
What he hides from saying is, HIS RETIREMENT DATE was December 17, 2005, BUT was on a “political” appointment with extensions given by President Rajapaksa for 04 years, never ever given to any Army Commander ever before, depriving at least one other (if not two) from being promoted as Army Commander.
In reality, he should have been watching “war” news from home, as a retired Army Officer.

Nandana said...

UNF/UNP

UNP sources made public statements saying they agreed to the proposal of a “Provisional Government” (PG) appointed by General Fonseka, immediately after presidential elections, if he wins and also that Ranil W. has agreed to head that PG as its PM.
General SF
This is what Gen. SF said at the media brief. “…..The executive presidency has to be abolished….to ensure one man can not ruin the country….any more….My victory will follow…immediately follow with general elections….in which we would try to get a two thirds majority….” There was no talk of a PG or of any one heading any government as PM.

The JVP

The JVP at the very outset indicated they are not ready for a PG with Ranil W. as its PM.
JVP parliamentary leader Anura Kumara Dissanayaka (AKD) had told BBC “Sandeshaya” on 02 December, that a plan of action to abolish the executive presidency has been worked out with General Sarath Fonseka. “He will abolish the executive presidency with the approval of the parliament within six months of being elected” according to Dissanayaka.
What it therefore means is, there will be no PG as the UNP says and Ranil W has no chance of being the PM, unless the JVP agrees in the new parliament.

The JVP

The JVP also says (referring to AKD) that General Fonseka has agreed to remain as non executive president and carry out duties assigned by a new government that is formed after the next general election. (BBC Sandeshaya)
Gen SF would thus be a nominal head of State. Non executive president. One like Gopallawa was, after the 1972 Republican Constitution.
This is the mother of all statements. Why (the hell) should Gen SF go through all these hazards, mud bathing and a possible threat to life as some say, to bring in a government he has no control of and one that would tell him what to do, if they want to ?

General SF

He is yet to say what his role would be, after calling for immediate general elections and IF, as he says, the parliament gets a 2/3 majority to abolish the Executive Presidency, or what would be the fall back option, if the parliament does not get the required 2/3 majority required for a constitutional change.
Many big holes for any big Lion to crawl through and lazily yawn, after a hefty meal that some other creatures hunted on!

Wishing All Patriot Daughters & Sons of Mother Lanka, including Moshe, Sam, Ninja Swarnajith, etc., a Healthy, Wealthy & Happy 2010!
Mahinda Rajapakse has enunciated his stance on this key philosophical issue. For him, the country is one, there are no minorities in it, and all are Sri Lankans of different ethnic origins. He has sought, and succeeded in commencing a process of accommodation and power sharing with the Tamil speaking Sri Lankans. The fact that two former senior LTTE members are now democrats and supporting him, with one being a Minister in his government and a senior Vice President of the SLFP, and the other, the Chief Minister of the elected Provincial Council of the Eastern province, and several other Tamil political parties being constituents of his governing coalition and some being ministers in his government, illustrates the point that he has commenced the process of power sharing.
No doubt there is more to do, but Tamil speaking Sri Lankans must also realize and accept that President Mahinda Rajapakse has to tread carefully when pursuing these initiatives in order to make sure he does not alienate other Sri Lankans. It would help him greatly if the Tamil speaking Sri Lankans accepted the unitary nature of the country formally, and with finality, as that would strengthen his hand to take the next step in advancing greater accommodation with the Tamil speaking Sri Lankans and formalizing power sharing through constitutional means.
What President Mahinda Rajapakse has achieved is there for all to see. It is a beginning and more may need to be done, but he has commenced the process.
The other main Presidential candidate, Former Army Commander Retired General Sarath Fonseka, who has no political experience, and is a military man inside and out, is only able to say what he would do if elected President. His promises have to be viewed in the context of his other promises in order to assess how serious he is about keeping them if elected. Considering his reckless promise to increase wages by Rs 10,000/= per month to all workers without any thought to the economic implications of such a move that would cost the country Rs 180 billion every year, Tamil speaking Sri Lankans will have to consider whether they could have confidence in his ability to deliver his promises.
They must also consider his stated views on Sinhala supremacy and the existence of Tamil speaking Sri Lankans more as bystanders than co owners of the country. It is difficult to imagine why any Tamil speaking Sri Lankan would support General Fonseka considering that he has said one thing to please his Sinhala speaking constituency and his new found friends, the JVP, and on the other hand said the opposite of these to please the Tamil speaking Sri Lankans.
It is fair therefore to ask the question, who is the real Sarath Fonseka? Who is behind the several masks that the public sees? Is he a puppet, and in that case, who is the puppeteer?
Tamil speaking Sri Lankans must decide whether they are willing to support a mask rather than a real person. Their decision will decide the outcome of this election and their fate, and with that, the fate of the country.

Rs. 269 billion needed to deliver SF promises – Dept. Finance Minister

Deputy Finance Minister Ranjith Siyabalapitiya today addressing a press conference said that it will take an annual Rs. 269 billion to provide all the promises that Rtd. General Sarath Fonseka is giving as campaign promises.

He added that to finance such an amount Fonseka would either have to sell Government assets and institution or impose an additional tax of Rs. 1250 per month on all citizens.

According to Siyabalapitiya the argument that he will finance the promises by cutting down the ministerial posts is invalid as the cost to support the current ministers takes less than Rs. 2 billion per annum.

He also said that the UNP backed Fonseka is promising to give all the Golden Key Depositors their money but the same UNP when the Pramuka Bank went bankrupt told depositors to fend for themselves.

Spin On Spin Has Spun The Spook

Murali is a wizard of spin who has mastered the art of wizardry of spin balling. According to Newton's Third Law when Murali spins the ball it should spin Murali in return. Since this recoil spin is so weak it does not spin Murali to a level that we can notice.

There is tongue spin and then there is tongue twist. The spin and twist need to be so subtle to be effective. When overdone tongue spin can spin the tongue owner and tongue twist can twist the tongue owner. This can even brings one's inside out in the open rather than hiding it. When it happens it is a disaster. Then again occasionally it can even be a blessing in disguise.

The Sri Lankan Nation needs to be extremely grateful to one and only one Mr. Sarath Fonseka. I did not call him the General Sarath Fonseka for the reason that some might hear degenerated Sarath Fonseka. Why should we grateful to Mr. Fonseka? For his efforts in the war front, someone might say. I will second that without any hesitation. One reason I do not hesitate to do so is that I am scared of twisting my tongue due to fear that it can twist me.

In contrast with me, this Sarath Fonseka is a brave character. He is never scared to twist his tongue even to the extent that he will be twisted and his guts come in the open air. Then he shows his guts to the world proudly and bravely. No shame, No Remorse, No Guilt. How brave? Drug dealers, criminals and rapists will be extremely envy of this unique talent of him. What amazes me is that he can do this twisting without even blinking his feet, even a tiny bit. Though his inside is completely out due to twisting, his feet stay straight on the ground solidly. No buckling no shivering. No perspiring, Not even a tiny flexing of a muscle anywhere in his body! What a performance! Should not we exclaim "bravo"?

Consider the War Crime allegations against one time his benefactor whose steadfast resolution made this mere Sarath Fonseka the General Fonseka. First he will proudly admit that he made the accusations. Then he will cry that it is a misquote. Then he will talk to the editor and emphasises the same. Next he will confess that there is a political fall-out. Therefore asks for a clarification to obscure the previous statement. Then he will say that he did not know what happened but a journalist told him. (As it was rumoured that Dalton Alwis wrote songs for Mr. Premadasa, may be this journalist was secretly doing the general-ship for Sarath Fonseka. Otherwise for what reason did he seek information form the journalist? The journalist was there to seek information from the general.) Then he will deny it again. In the next second, he will say the editor cries for mercy. So merciful is he, he does not sue the editor. Next he will keep repeating the same accusation over and over while tongue lashing the editor again and again. Then he threats to sue the editor while repeating the same accusations. (Please forgive me: I have not checked the latest status of this twist saga. Even If I did I would not be able to make any sense. It is a story that progresses on the same circular path with an almost constant period.)

Would you believe I stopped following this cyclic tongue twist saga due to power of the twists my left became right and my right became left. So I stopped following the twists. My first priority was to disentangle myself. My healthcare provider kindly advised me to stay away from too many twists. I gladly follow the advice since I do not want to twist my inside out. Not that my inside is ugly but unbearable is the physical pain. For Mr. Fonseka this pain is nothing.

*Spin On Spin Has Spun The Spook Part II

I previously said that Mr. Sarath Fonseka has done a great service to the Nation that we all should be grateful. We all agree that he has served the country in the war front but this war effort is nothing compared to the service he is now doing in the election campaign. He campaigns fearlessly, unselfishly and tirelessly to elect Mahinda Rajapaksha as President for the second term. How so, you may interrupt? How not so? I could just quip and stop but consider the following facts.

 Being a candidate in the election, Sarath Fonseka cannot ask not to vote for him and to vote for Mahinda Rajapaksha. He needs to come up with a subtle strategy. Then he has chosen tongue twist and to open his inside out by over twisting. If this is not unselfish and philanthropic National Service what else could be termed as that? Not even Mahinda Rajapaksha's overall leadership in the war effort is that great. Mahinda Rajapaksha's service has at least one major blemish. He appointed a General in tongue twisting for the leadership of the army.

 This Sarath Fonseka is pleading with the voters "Please do not vote for me. I am a loose canon." Isn't this national service of utmost greatness? If it isn't, what is it then?

 If you are not yet convinced of this one and only Sarath Fonseka's National Service please listen to his Sirasa interview at
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owzAR1mDDxg&NR=1 .
You want to hear it with great care. He cannot say it directly. He needs to be utterly subtle. Listen to what he says about Mr. Wasantha Karannagoda.

This Fonseka is saying that "Please do not vote for me. I am a person who holds a school-time grudge for decades. Even if the National security is at stake I do not stake my grudge. I hold onto and cherish my grudge. I attacked Muhemale on my own. I did not seek the help of Navy or Air Force because I was deluded and convinced of my superman status. Hey, voter I am telling you that I am tiny (amoeba size) minded having a Milky Way super size ego. My ego crushes me and it makes me even tinier. SO DOT VOTE FOR ME, if you have any sense at all."

If you do not agree with me let me remind decency and magnanimity Mr. Karannagoda handled various abusive statements directed at him by this one and only one Mr. Fonseka. For example, consider the ninety five percent claim and Navy being the weakest link of the war effort. In the interview, this Mr. Fonseka says that Karannagoda cried in front of the President, Gotabhaya Rajapaksha and himself. Mr. Foneseka' was treated in an even worse manner but he did not cry. See how brave, courageous and tough guy this Sarath Fonseka is? Can't you see how big he is?

Yes, Yes, our zero just crawled, crept, cried and wept in front Mr. Mangala Samaraweera and Ranil Wickramasinghe; surely not in front of the President. At the same time, for careful eye it is visible that who is crying. We know who is weeping. His whole agenda is about himself and the complaint that enough was not given to him. In the Interview given by Mr. Karannagoda he only speaks about the Nation security and National service. What a contrast!

 Do you need more proof that Mr. Fonseka is going to vote for Mr. Rajapaksha.? Consider the twists and turns of the ship full of weapons sent back. Oh! so many twists. I am just about being intoxicated by these twists. I cannot take it any more. Let us move into the new mental health threat spreading fast. Oh! let us move to another story. I am getting entangled.

 I was checking on medical news to see whether there is a new virus or a bacteria in the go that is associated with the new mental disorder of tongue twisting saga. It is spreading in Sri Lanka like wild fire. Listen to many other politicians such as Mr. Vajira Herath and Mr. Lal Kantha.

Swarnajith Udana said...

Spin On Spin Has Spun The SpookPartt III

Mr. Vajira Herath says that UN is backing Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha for Presidency. Not only that UN is under command of Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksha. Mr. Rajapaksha has ordered UN to send a letter to the Sri Lankan Government asking for explanation of this Fonseka's war crime charges. Just to give troubles for this Zero Fonseka. What a revelation? That was the same reason that UN was trying to save the and only Son God using many pretences, he might claim next.

.

Then look at our brave Lal Kantha who seemed to be doing a great service and working overtime to save Tiger Brother Unlimited and replace Jumbo Cabinet by Jumbo Tigers by calling strikes and working to defeat the Government, at the most sensitive times. We should not think of Mr. Kantha being bad. He is just suffering from amnesia that if it not for the Jumbo cabinet the Government would have ceased to exist and Tiger Brothers would have taken control of a large piece of the country with the sponsorship of Mr. Wickramasinghe's international shackles that restrained the Nation.

It was becoming clear that JVP and UNP were not sharing that single letter P in their party acronyms. They might be thinking why not change the other two letters too. Great journey and Great mission! For both parties, one and the same: Oblivion.

This Lal Kantha is practicing his own art of tongue twisting nicely coupled with another skill. He says that he wants to hear the tape to see whether Mr. Fonseka has uttered those words. He thunderingly assures us if Mr. Fonseka has said so, it is definitely treachery. I agree, to be sure, he needs to listen to the tape. Mr. Fonseka is very helpful. "Why do you ask the editor? Ask me, I will tell you" he says to Mr. Kantha

Then the mood of this Fonseka twists and he challenges Mr. Deaf Kantha: "why do you need the tape? What can you do if I have ever said so? Do not worry about the tape. I repeat the same in front of you. Do whatever you can."

While Mr. Sarath Fonseka is adamant in practicing his tongue twisting to help the voter to run away to the President Mr. Lal Kantha practices another magical art with wizardry skills. That is ear twisting; twisting ear-lobes inward, completely covering the ear drums. How marvellous! Mr. Deaf does not hear a thing. Sri Lanka is fortunate to have such wizards. I know that many will be jealous of such skills and call many names but I give the credit where it is due. Just because you cannot achieve these amazing feats you should not feel jealousy.

Voters please listen to the pleas of this Zero Fonseka. He is begging, crying and weeping not to vote for him. To be grateful for his honest and ultimate National service of convincing you not to vote for him, if you are religious, in your prayers please send him your divine messages of peace and calm. Pray for him to be free of delusions, hallucinations, pipedreams and courage to stay away from characters like Ranil and Mangala. He deserves our utmost support for his efforts of helping us to re-elect the President. If we fail to head to Sarath Fonseka's pleas and make him President then that is the most ingratitude we can display; ingratitude for Mr. Zero and the President both. Let us resolve ourselves not be such ungrateful. Mr. Zero asks for Zero vote. Would you hear that?

SF's MASSIVE radar fraud has come to light.

read the asiantribune.

there are some info not discussed in AT.

1. this radar deal has NOTHING to do with the 3D radar deal which didn't go through.

pls note that SF's radar deal is for arti locating radar for the army with a range of <25km while the 3D radar was for the air force with a MUCH LARGER range to track aircraft.

the air force radar was not purchased but the army radar was purchased through HICORP!!!

2. LANKA LOGISTICS AND TECHNOLOGIES was in operation at that time. but there was no restriction for SF (or anyone) to purchase anything. restricted items were gazetted on on 30 JULY 2007!!

this deal was done before that. how clever!!

3. danuna is spending millions on the ponseka campaign now. he is in SL. arresting him means APSARA cannot get her cunt drilled LEGALLY. that means she is going to go crying to her mother. she brings the grievances to SF and SF gets pissed off and blasts his veins in hatred.

4. danuna is not used to remand conditions and chances are that he will breakdown and spill the beans. SF knows this possibility and is very much afraid of it.

3. MR underestimated the threat that can be developed into a real battle.
4. SF is not a person who could accept second fiddle to GR.
5. Anti MR elements got united under SF.
6. MR and SF have to fight it out now.

Who will be the winner of final battle?

Sam Perera said...

Rana,

Undisputed facts are bit different than you think.;

1. MR, GR, SF, WK, and RG were instrumental to the successful elimination of LTTE.

2.Even before war was over, SF was dealing with top scum Ranil and Mangala. That is why LeN predicted a Sarath to be the presidential candidate.

3. SF overestimated his status after he visited Ambalangoda.

4. SF is not a person who could accept a civil administration over him. Otherwise, there shall not be any issue with GR since he is the secretary of defence.

5. Anti Sri Lankan elements aka the scum of Sri Lanka got united under SF to bring down the national pride, which they couldn't do with the help of LTTE.

6. SF has to fight a losing battle now.

Who will be the winner of final battle? The answer is obvious when the leader of the nation, who is ranked equal or better than Dutugemunu and Vijayabahu, competes against a megalomaniac traitor.

Moshe Dyan said...

I sincerely hope you are correct, mate. MR and GR with SF are also my heroes too. However, I do not like MR until he cleans the whole place. As at present; he is too dirty to accept as an undisputed leader of the nation.

Moshe,

In this battle, GR has no trumps and only be a dummy hand, bro.

Moshe Dyan said...

rana,

oh no, mate!

MOST ppl think politics rules over everything but not so. national security is foremost.

GR is going to do things MR does not like.

MR doesn't want SF punished for his "statement". MR never dragged that into his politics.

but not GR. he is INDEPENDANTLY going after SF and punish him.

after his case against the sunday leader, the latter is in deeeep shit. it has 2 options.

1. hand over the tape
2. don't hand over the tape

IF CORRECTLY PUBLISHED,

if 1, SF is screwed.

if 2, sunday leader is screwed.

IF INCORRECTLY PUBLISHED,

if 1, sunday leader is screwed.

if 2, sunday leader is screwed.

GR want it done soon bcos there are 2 possibilities.

1. SF may win the election and becomes unreachable after that.

2. SF may lose the election and escape to USA.

mark my word, GR is the man.

Imaginary dialogue based on a true dialogue:

Fictional Debate:

Government Debater: Then you acknowledge that your candidate will loose by a big margin?

RR: No, No he will win by big margin.

Government Debater: Then, Mr. Ramanayaka, you acknowledge that SF will become a dictator.

RR: No, NO I never said that.

Government Debater: Then how can it be undemocratic to give your democratic candidate to win election. So the conclusion would be either you are delusional, or your candidate is loosing badly or your candidate will become a cruel dictator.

2. SF ONLY THREATENED to file a case!!

for SF it is only a publicity stunt.

Rana,

The Jackson Anthony interview tata has referred above could not have come out in a better time. For somebody who often harps on a being a Sinhalaya or Helaya, I suggest you listen to this Jackson Anthony interview.

Your fixation about clean politics is a fallacy. Said otherwise, it is an urban legend. Further more, the most of those allegations are unfounded.

Mahinda Rajapakse's contribution to our nation is outstanding. As JA so eloquently put, he revived the Sri Lankan nationalism once again. Instead of taking everything the west says as Gospel, we are now walking on Earth with some dignity. That is some thing a western stooge like Ranil or the traitor Fonseka who embraced Ranil will never achieve.

The revival of nationalism is something the west really hates for the reasons that Sri Lankans will not be easily malleable to their whims and fancies. With the revived nationalism, we can take our nation forward in unthinkable ways to unprecedented levels. We already saw a part of it in May-2009.

It will certainly be our decision to choose the path of national freedom by electing Mahinda Rajapakse on Jan-26 or the path of being western stooges by electing Fonseka on Jan-26.

Moshe Dyan said...

Moshe Dyan said...

Moshe Dyan said...

danuna the whore fcuker is running away from law!! fantastic.

this contradicts my news that SF, anoma and danuna are going to go to USA on 27th.

"Danuna Tillakeratne has already fled USA to hide from USA authorities and Sri Lankan authorities.

Sri Lankan Goverment is in the process of investigating the illegal activities of both Danuna and Apsara and confirmed the fact that Danuna has accepted over US $ 10 million as commission from illegal arms deals. The question that remains unanswered is how & why Danuna and Apsara used MidFirst bank to transfer illegal money earned through arms and ammunition commissions."

Swarnajith Udana said...

MR revived and inspired Sri Lankan Nationalism in appropriate form. (Remember with this kind of Nationalism I can also agree with.)

MR defined the theme of the war in which the vast majority of soldiers are true heroes.

MR will most probably develop the country its deserved heights.

MR will most probably develop Sri Lankan medicinal heritage.

I believe that SF has proven him to be egoistic, ignorant hateful and ruthless petty minded and control-freak authoritarian

After listening to what SF himself says if anybody can trust SF to be an effective campaigner against corruption nepotism then my belief that Sun rises from the East must simply a delusion.

Swarnajith Udana said...

I am certain that there is corruption in the Government.

But most of what is accused against MR and GR brothers are cruel crimes against the Nation.

Prof Rohan Gunarathne is sad and upset the opposition's slanders against the ship and KP's money.
Professor laments that these accusations are crimes against National security. SF is a part of this crime.

SwarnaWahini/ Asiri many other land deals are simply lies.

Swarnajith Udana said...

Anything can be proved if we are gullible.

Moon Landing is a fake.

Proof: The flag seemed to be making waves. How can a flag make ripples on the airless Moon?

Fallacy: To make ripples there needs to be wind. For there to be wind there need to be air. Since the Moon has no air the Moon landing is a fake.

Resolution of the fallacy: To make ripples what necessary is a force, not wind. This force can be created by static electric charges etc.

Whatever has been said in the media, think carefully.

Sam Perera said...

Moshe,

SF leaving SL on 27th may not be in our best interests. He is on a path of vengeance against MR and GR. That is his nature. Similarly, he will be on a path of vengeance against Sri Lanka after the voters reject him. He can stoop down to unprecedented lows since he is incapable of taking rejections.

Swarnajith Udana said...

I agree even in modern times good "nepotism" which is not really nepotism could play a positive role. It happens in many other countries including USA.

About 391 relatives. If this is really true no mattee what Jackson says it is criminal.

But this accusation could be just something for gullible mind. The "391 proof" is a fake proof like the proof of fake-ness of Mooon landing.

For example: Take any family Name. Hundreds of people with same family name could be in high places simply because of randomness. Then this chance may be increased due to prominence of the Family Name.

And also due to the prominence of the family without being all of them being political appointments. They may have been promoted through their careers. Also just having last name Rajapaksha is not an automatic disqualification as well as it is not a qualification.

What I am arguing is "just the number 391" is not a proof. We need the history and if these appointments are really political.

About Jacksons presentation:

I can identify with some of it. For instance, about the King Song I said that it was merely metaphorical.

Event though I identify some of his analysis (For instance we have suffered form cultural invasion. Still we are suffering form it. See the Coca-Cola bill boards. At the same time culture is a living organism. All culture is international. Sri Lankan culture was nurtured by the world and the world culture was nurtured by Sri Lankan culture. (I am not talking about cultural invasion but natural cultural evolution. Sri Lankan culture was largely influenced by Indian culture. (Maha Bharatha, Upanishad, Buddhism.)

For example my culture is nurtured by Buddhism, Bo tree, Socrates, Newton, Einstein, Dostoyevsky, Dhamma Padhda, Pansiya Panas Jathakaya, Sarthchandra, Martin Wicramasinghe, Tagore, Amaradeva, Mozart, Beethovan and many others. Our civilisation was the one that had the first hospital in the world. We may have given the Ship technology to China, Our Lake systems, Sigiriya indicate that we had a very strong mathematical and scientific knowledge. I believe that Jackson's ideas can be an appropriate for proper Nationalistic thinking with some modifications.

Yes I have heard, not the boy part but 25 eggs they wasted every day since SF wanted a bull's eye to be precise. That was in SLA grape wine for some time. I am not sure about the getting beaten part though. Now about the chef, it was reported in media (Rivira and Nation) that SF's chef was a LTTE mole. What can a paper do is not to put its weigh behind it. Instead they can endorse their candidate.

young politician mahinda who had a very late marriage was desperate for sex. he approaches a village lassy by the name kamalawathi. after she refused mahinda's sexual advances, mahinda rapes her. traps her in her hut and repeatedly rapes her over a week. she complains to the police. a police investigation begins and the OIC is transfered to jaffna.

undeterred the woman complains to higher authorities. now desperate, mahinda uses his aide kudu nihal from tangalle to kill her.

her body has not been recovered till this date.

there are many allegations that mahinda raped his clients at his legal practice office. most victims are said to be divorce cases.

even after marrying a beauti queen, this sex maniac still goes after other women.

SAM I agree that The Sunday Leader has a vicious secret agenda aginst the country. Otherwise they would not have given information of special forces in Ranil Time. They took pleasure and cherish every moment of it when it was going bad for Sri Lanka may it be the war front or "peace front".

However, the recent article about SF's war crime allegations today is not particularly good for SF. Actually it paints SF as weak hostage in others hand.

I repeat that it was not political naivity that prompted SF to enter the political campaign; it was hate and amibiton. He was preparing, even with good pmanipulational skills for both JVP and UNP to promote him on his own terms.

In the political campaign his political bankruptcy rather than naivity has come to the front since he has no political thinking.

In fact, many are commenting that how such a weak and trembling person could have been leading the war. Some are even commenting that even during the height of the war he was just a puppet but this does not go with his Muhamale adventures since he himself had gone mad there.

May due to hatred and greed for power he has lost what ever the skills he had. Otherwise how can he perform such a dismal and delusional manner in the campaign?

Given that I feel a difference of track of Sunday Times and Sunday Leader now. They are not attacking him now. May be they are sure that Ranil will survive since SF will not.

Cannot read it properly yet.

I expected both papers to come hard at SF. It happenedn then it does not now.

Sam is it possible for you to give the reference ot grapevine about the bullseye? Thanks!

Vickramabahu Karunaratna: Foremost Traitor!

"We will continue with the struggle of the Tamils" – Presidential candidate Vickramabahu Karunaratna

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 03, Jaffna: The Tamil struggle was not over yet although the LTTE leadership was decimated with the help of India and other foreign forces, Sri Lanka's Common Left candidate at the upcoming presidential elections said addressing the voters in Jaffna.

Dr. Vickramabahu Karunaratna was touring Jaffna after twenty years. He was accompanied by the Tamil presidential candidate and parliamentarian M. K. Sivajilingam.

Dr. Karunaratna and MP Sivajilingam addressed the people in Jaffna on Saturday (02) in Nallur, Achchuveli, Nelliady, Chunnakam and Uduppiddy.

"We will continue with the Tamil national struggle in the political arena for autonomy and self determination," said Dr. Karunaratna.

He further said that even after the Tamil militancy was defeated in an ocean of blood and tears, the rulers who had a song and dance about it could not live happily. He said that those who crushed the Tamils will have to pay for the blood and tears shed by the Tamils.

"The workers' struggles that sprang up in the south saying that they cannot bear the burden of the war, forced the government to call an election before time," the presidential candidate said.

Tamil Presidential Candidate MK Sivajilingam called upon the Tamils not to give a single vote for either of the two main candidates who are trying to claim the spoils of the war.

He said that they should vote for either him or Dr. Karunaratna in order to stop getting either the present President or the former army commander getting 50 percent of votes in the presidential elections.

No_Mess,

Sunday Leader could have been extremely satisfied if Fonseka stuck to the story of false allegations and destroyed our country. As we all know, Sunday Leader is run by religious fundamentalists hell bent on imposing their religion on others by hook or crook. For Wickramathunge, Jansz, and Samarasinghe, destroying our national identity is a minor matter in the process of achieving their end goal. It is imperative that we push these scum bags at Sunday Leader to the garbage bins of Sri Lankan history after the dust settles.

Sunday Leader’s editor defends controversial Fonseka interview

B. Muralidhar Reddy
TheHindu.com
January 3, 2010

Editor of Sri Lanka’s English weekly, Sunday Leader, who carried the controversial December 13 interview with the commander turned politician Sarath Fonseka, added a new dimension today with her insistence that she had quoted the retired General `perfectly accurately’.

In a detailed report under the title `Her Story’, the Editor of the paper Frederica Jansz said, “The article which, perfectly accurately, quoted the General as saying he had heard that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had given an illegal order asking Brigadier Shavendra Silva (later promoted General) to not accomodate surrendering LTTE cadres, became more than a news story.

It became a political phenomenon and the allegations, denials, retractions and recriminations that followed are history.

“However it is a history that has come to be grossly distorted. As all the various parties caught in the story’s fallout struggled to save face, what began as a piece of journalism accusing the government of a serious war crime would become, through lies and deception, a coup for the Rajapaksa administration.

“Ultimately the campaign to vilify and distort the article and discredit me has now reached a point where I feel, I must comment and present what I believe to be an accurate version of the events leading to and following its publication”, Ms. Jansz said.

The long explanation by Ms. Jansz came as the former Army Chief did a Volta face and maintained that his comments were wrongly interpreted by the government within 24 hours after the December 13 Sunday Leader hit the stands. The next issue of Sunday Leader carried a clarification from the Presidential contender.

Besides, on December 19, Sri Lankan Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had demanded rupees one billion in damages from the weekly if it fails to apologise for publishing two allegedly defamatory articles.

In a letter to the Publisher and Editor of the weekly, a lawyer acting on behalf of Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa pointed out that a District Court had already restrained the publication from publishing such news in two earlier cases.

In an interview to the weekly, Gen. (retired) Sarath Fonseka, former Army chief and contender in the January 26 presidential poll, had said Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa had instructed a ground commander in the battle zone during the last phase of the Eelam War IV to shoot all LTTE leaders who came out to surrender to the military. But the next day, the General went back on his comments.

In the interview, the General had contended that he had no information communicated to him in the final days of the war regarding three key LTTE leaders had opted to surrender to the military.

“Fonseka charged that communications were instead confined to the LTTE leaders, Norway, various foreign parties, Basil Rajapaksa, Member of Parliament and the powerful senior adviser to the President, and such information was never conveyed to him as he supervised the final stages of the war,” the weekly reported.

On the basis of the December 13 controversial interview, the U.N. Special Rapporteur on Extrajudicial Summary or Arbitrary Executions, Phillip Alston, has asked Colombo to explain the circumstances of the death of three senior LTTE cadres and their families in the final stages of military operations to defeat the LTTE in May this year.

Refutation & Counter-Refutation....

...countinued 1...

The controversy triggered by the interview and the subsequent denial was considered as closed at least till the January 26 Presidential poll after the President Rajapaksa last week sent the December 18 letter of Philip Alston, U.N. Special Rapporteur on Extra- judicial, Summary and Arbitrary Executions seeking an explanation from the government, to a committee appointed to study and report on the October 21 U.S. Department of State Report on “incidents during the recent conflict in Sri Lanka”. Mr. Alston’s letter referred to charges made (subsequently withdrawn) by the former Army Chief, Sarath Fonseka, against Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on the sequence of events in the last phase of Eelam War IV (May 16 to 19).

Ms. Jansz in her explanatory note said that after the presidential election was formally declared, The Sunday Leader’s management made a decision that the paper would at an editorial level broadly throw its weight behind Sarath Fonseka’s campaign.

“The Rajapaksa administration, by filing multiple law suits against this paper and failing to take real action in the ongoing investigation into Lasantha Wickrematunge’s murder, left The Sunday Leader’s management with no alternative.

“Facing devastating court cases, The Leader had no option but to back Fonseka and despite my personal reservations I sympathised with the management’s position and agreed to devote a large amount of page space to the General’s campaign.

As part of our effort to give publicity to Sarath Fonseka’s campaign, I requested on Monday, December 7 an interview with the General.

“The interview was intended to both give the reading public a better idea of the General as a person and allow him to put forward his views regarding his campaign and major policy issues. The interview proceeded as a series of questions and answers on major topics and issues and a transcript of the interview by Raknish Wijewardene appeared in The Sunday Leader of December 13, 2009.

“However towards the end of the interview we began to discuss the ethnic conflict and the role Fonseka had played in the war. I then asked him one final question. In relation to claims made both internationally and locally that LTTE surrendees carrying white flags had, instead of being accommodated, been killed.

“I asked the General what really happened. In that context Fonseka made the allegation that would later appear in the newspapers. He claimed he had heard that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa ordered any surrendering LTTE cadres to be shot, and related the story of Pulidevan and Nadesan’s surrender.

“When Sarath Fonseka made this allegation I reacted as any journalist would. A presidential candidate and decorated war hero was accusing the incumbent President’s brother of ordering the death of unarmed surrendering LTTE leaders and their families. That was simply an extraordinary story and I knew immediately that this would be the paper’s headline for the week”, she wrote.

“Realising the impact such striking allegations would have, at 9.45 a.m. before the paper went to print on Saturday I once gain contacted Sarath Fonseka.

During a twenty minute phone conversation the General reiterated that he stood by the allegation. At that point I asked him who the journalist was who had told him about the supposedly illegal order given by Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to Shavendra Silva. Fonseka gave me the journalist’s name but asked that I not name him “for reasons for his own personal security.” A request I obliged. Fonseka then said that he was willing to go on record with his claim and he assured me he would not back down. Only with that assurance did we go to print”, she went on.

Refutation and Counter-Refutation...

...countinued 2...

...........
Writing on the fallout, the Editor complained, “It was only as the government’s denunciation campaign intensified with TV, radio, and internet sites declaring the former war hero a traitor that Fonseka’s advisors Mangala Samaraweera, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Vijitha Herath in particular advised him to retract part of the story.

“At a meeting with the Chairman of The Sunday Leader, Lal Wickrematunge on Monday, December 14, senior UNP leaders together with Samaraweera and the JVP insisted that a retraction was necessary as the story had damaged Fonseka’s reputation as a patriot. It was requested that The Leader retract those parts of the article mentioning Shavendra Silva. The argument being that by criticising the army, Fonseka was betraying his own comrades and losing public support. However as a journalist and as someone who is committed to the truth I refused to publish a fraudulent retraction”.

Ms. Jansz further wrote, “Accused of betraying the army and conspiring to involve the international community in Sri Lanka’s internal affairs, at a hastily convened press conference at his offices at Reid Avenue, the General addressed the matter of The Sunday Leader story.

Under immense pressure at this briefing and unable to flatly deny what he knew to be the truth, the General waffled and issued what was neither a clarification nor a retraction. However over the following days his advisors and supporters would insist that Fonseka had denied the story.

“The move from clarification to retraction and denial proved to be a disaster. By backing down the politically inexperienced Fonseka ultimately played completely into the hands of the government. He immediately came across as indecisive and weak. No one believed his half-hearted denials and his credibility suffered considerable damage”.

The Editor says that Fonseka’s garbled and gradual retraction destroyed his credibility, and also squashed any hope of an impartial investigation into the alleged massacre.

Sri Lankan government to reveal a conspiracy to destabilize the country

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 02, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government is soon to reveal the details of a conspiracy by the same forces that were behind the deceased LTTE leader to discredit and destabilize the country, a government minister has said.

According to a report on the state-owned newspaper Daily News, the Foreign Employment Promotion Minister and Defence Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella had told the daily that the forces cooperated with the LTTE leader are spreading false propaganda at the presidential election campaign to fulfill the terrorists' agenda.

The Minister has accused some NGOs of cooperating with the opposition to spread the rumors overseas that election violence is taking place in the country now.

"Conspiracies against the country had come with different faces at different times from foreign elements and the main objective of such elements was to destabilize the country by attacking," the Minister was quoted as saying.

Minister Rambukwella has pointed the finger at the supporters of the common opposition candidate as the ones who stood with the terrorist leader Prabhakaran before the terrorist group was defeated.

"We will soon give the details of the activities of those conspirators," he has said.

All IDPs eligible to vote

2008 register - basis for poll:

Re-registration not necessary:

Recent news reports in some sections of the media that about one million IDPs of the Northern Province have not been registered for voting and will be deprived of their franchise at the January 26 Presidential Poll are incorrect.

Voters whose names are already in the 2008 Electoral Register will be able to vote, Bandula Kulatunga, Consultant to the Elections Department told the Sunday Observer.

The Presidential Poll is being held on the basis of the 2008 Electoral Register and the question of registering again does not arise in the case of a large majority of IDPs, he said.

The Commissioner General for Registration of Persons and the Commissioner Elections are expeditiously handling the issue of temporary identity cards through Grama Niladharis to those who do not possess any valid documents to prove their identity at the poll. While the Department of Elections will conclude its program of issuing temporary identity cards on January 15, the Department for Registration of Persons will continue this task until January 21, Kulatunga said. Of the four NGOs that are to moniter the Presidential polls, the People's Action for Free and Fair Elections and the Centre for Monitoring Election Violence have been permitted to observe from inside the polling stations while the Campaign for Free and Fair Elections and the Network for Election Monitoring have been permitted to observe from outside, he said.

Officials of the Elections Department have been designated to coordinate the process of installing polling booths, special polling booths and cluster polling booths for the IDPs and also to expedite the issue of temporary identity cards.

Last week they visited IDP villages and other places where people have been resettled and held discussions in Mannar, Vavuniya and Jaffna with the respective Returning Officers (ROs), Assistant Returning Officers (AROs), Assistant Commissioners of Elections (ACEs) and officials of the Government Secretariats. Commissioner of Elections Dayananda Dissanayake will hold a meeting shortly to review the situation, the sources said.

Mannar GA Nicholas Pillai told the Sunday Observer that in his district, where a considerable number of IDPs have already been resettled, maximum facilities will be provided for the voters to cast their votes. More polling booths than at the last elections will be installed for the Presidential Poll, he said.

The ACE for Vanni A.S.Karunanidhi said the number of registered voters in the Vavuniya Polling District is 112,924 according to the 2008 Voters Register, 68,729 in the Mullaitivu Polling District and 65,322 in the Mannar Polling District.

These were figures updated annually on information furnished by Grama Niladharis, with inclusion of details of youths who had reached 18 and deletion of the names of the dead.

After obtaining special permission from the Commissioner of Elections, the Voters Register for Mullaitivu Polling District was updated annually from 2003, he said.

The number of voters in 2003 was 53,547 and the register was progressively updated and the number in 2008 was 68,729, Karunanidhi said.

The ACE for Jaffna P.Guhanathan said that the number of registered voters in the Jaffna Polling District is 630,548 according to the 2008 Electoral Register and the number in the Kilinochchi Polling District is 90,811.

Polling booths are being installed in Vavuniya Town and in the vicinity of the Menik Farm and other welfare villages for the IDPs to vote.

Free transport facilities will also be provided, where necessary, for the IDPs, sources said.

TNA's dilemma: Take sides now, or wait to be the kingmaker after a "close" General Election.

ALL of these TRAITORS should be serving LIFE SENTENCES in prison .. not running for election to the parliament!

.........
TNA’s fate may hinge on Alliance decision tomorrow

The turmoil in the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) over its stand on the presidential election is far from over and the three key people said to be pressing the TNA to back Sarath Fonseka were away in Trincomalee yesterday supposedly canvassing the views of their constituents.

R. Sampanthan, Mavai Senathiraja and K. Thurairatnasigam who were in Trincomalee could not be contacted up to the time of going to press last night. Earlier in the day when we contacted Senathiraja and Thurairatnasingam both requested us to contact them after five o’clock as they were at meetings.

Already the UNP and those in the TNA wanting to back Fonseka have been saying the talks held between the two sides have been successful, but Jaffna District MP Pathmini Sithamparanathan said last night that they hoped to get details of the discussions that Sampanthan and others had with both leading candidates when they meet tomorrow.

Some have dubbed tomorrow’s crucial talks of the TNA as a make or break meeting, but Sithamparanathan said they are conscious about the necessity to have the TNA solidarity. “We are very particular about our unity,” she added. Several rounds of talks that the TNA has held so far have failed to arrive at a decision.
Observers said it was interesting to note that Sampanthan had not been taking any of those in the opposing camp when having talks with both President Rajapaksa and Sarath Fonseka.

N. Srikantha said to be leading a majority of 12 MPs out of the 22 in the TNA who insist on the party not supporting either of the candidates said yesterday, “The only sensible decision in the interest of the Tamil community and the TNA is to see whether there can be a collective decision not to support either of the major candidates.”

The veteran lawyer who yesterday visited Sathasivam Kanagaratnam, the sole TNA MP in CID custody on the fourth floor since fleeing from the last Tiger bastion in Mullaitivu with other civilians during the final showdown said that he too was of the opinion that neither of the major candidates mattered for Tamils as they were almost the same.

“But, he too wants the party to make a collective decision,” Srikantha said.
Speaking as a lawyer, he said in his view there was no case against Kanagaratnam and he should be released. “It is unfair and unjust to keep him in detention. He is 62,” he added.

Sri Lanka Navy assists pilgrims to historic Buddhist temple in Jaffna islets

ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.

Jan 02, Colombo: With the lifting of restrictions on the main land route to Jaffna, A-9 highway, Buddhist devotees flocked on the Duruthu Poya day , December 31, to the historic Nagadeepa Temple in Nainathivu, an islet of Jaffna.

Sri Lanka Navy, which provides the security to the historic islet, assisted the visitors to embark and disembark the ferries carrying them from Kurikadduwan in Jaffna to the island.

Naval medical personnel were on stand-by to provide emergency medical assistance when needed.

The historic temple is of great significance to the Buddhists in the country as the legend says that Lord Buddha has visited the site to settle a quarrel between two royals.

According to the history in 523 B.C, the Buddha had visited Nagadeepa to settle a dispute between Mahodara and Chulodara -uncle and nephew who were at war with each other over a gem studded throne.

Opposition’s claim Mahinda bought only ammo countered

by Shamindra Ferdinando

Responding to claims that the Rajapaksa administration had not acquired any new, weaponry except ammunition during the Eelam War IV, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa told The Island that nothing could be further from the truth. "What we acquired after fighting erupted in August 2006 was amazing," he said adding that no previous government had provided such a range of equipment to the men on the battlefield.

The Defence Secretary said that the government had obtained a range of armaments, including armoured fighting vehicles, aircraft, ships, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as well as radars over the past four years, though the Opposition recently praised former President Chandrika Kumaratunga’s government for bolstering the firepower of the armed forces. He said that security forces would continue to receive good quality weaponry to meet any future threat. A case in point was the Navy taking delivery of six Israeli Fast Attack Craft (FACs) during this year, he said.

The Israeli-built Kfirs, Russian MiG 27s, Czechoslovakian-built multi barrel rocket launchers and UAVs were first introduced during the Kumaratunga administration.

Opposition presidential candidate Sarath Fonseka said that the Rajapaksa administration had bought only ammunition and that, too, only at the latter part of the offensive though the President and the Defence Secretary now claimed credit for the war victory. He said that former President Kumaratunga had bought a range of artillery pieces, including 130 mm and 152 mm field guns to boost the firepower of the Army. He said that the Army had fought with available ammunition before fresh stocks arrived from China several months after the 2008 Olympics, for which payments would continue for some time.

Rajapaksa said that the incumbent President’s predecessors, too, wanted to defeat the LTTE, though the armed forces could not realise the objective due to periodic battlefield setbacks experienced in the war front.

Army headquarters said that the Mechanised Infantry Regiment received armoured fighting vehicles from China and Russia. The Regiment comprised four Battalions, including one deployed on a ground role. The remaining three formations had received well over 100 T 89 VP 1 and WMZ 551 B of Chinese origin and Russian-built BMP Mark IIs.

The Defence Secretary said that the government had ordered new weapons for over 150,000 personnel recruited to the three armed forces, the police, including the STF and the Civil Defence Force. He said that the government had acquired a range of new weapons. He emphasised that whatever the economic difficulties, the government had bought a range of armaments to equip the rapidly expanding armed forces, provided the best possible training to the forces.

The newly acquired weaponry included 30 mm Bushmaster weapons now deployed on FACs, 107 mm multi barrel rocket launchers also deployed on naval platforms and jets capable of firing missiles as well as state-of-the-art Chinese 3D Radar. The Army bought a range of artillery pieces and mortars while the Navy ordered weapons to equip the Special Boat Squadron and the Rapid Action Board Squadron. Among the weapons ordered were 14.5 mm twin barrel guns of Chinese origin and 23 mm weapon manufactured in Bulgaria.

The Defence Secretary said that the country should be proud of the men behind the weapons, who defeated the LTTE outright.

## It seems Gonseka honestly thinks its only SLA fought the war. He completely forgot sacrifice done by SLN, SLAF and STF yet alone new weapons given to them.

JHU is highly inactive compared to JVP - very disappointing. WW is doing his best.

At least 50% minority votes is expected to Gonseka. Specially TNA is expected to support Gonz and possibly with some more crossovers from minority parties.

There are people among floating voters who votes for the candidate that they think will win rather than voting for the candidate that they want win. This is around <5% but these 'dinana paththata hoiya' 'anda balayas' are too critical. This is among vote base around city limits. JVP the masters of propaganda is doing well on this conveying about an trend/ wave by filling all rallies by their island wide mobile cadre base.

I know many people who voted for MR in 05 now say don't vote for either. While some expecting a difference in millions this stay-home approach may be disastrous for MR.

Refutation & Counter-refutation: Is there any credibility left in this story?

...

Ananda, dear chap, a good article on General flip-flop. However, it has always bothered me that the government has only refuted the facts mentioned above (about ordering surrendering Eelam monkeys to be shot on sight) without stating there is nothing wrong about shooting these terrorists who violated all accepted laws of war with regards to surrender protocol. Here are few things they could have pointed out in addition to the denial.

1. An unlawful combatant or unprivileged combatant/belligerent is a civilian who directly engages in armed conflict in violation of International Humanitarian Law (IHL). LTTE scumbags were clearly unlawful combatants.

2. Unlike the terms 'combatant', 'prisoner of war', and 'civilian', the term 'unlawful combatant'is not mentioned in either the Hague or the Geneva Conventions. An unlawful combatant, when captured, does not qualify for POW status under GCIII Articles 4 and 5.

3. 'Hors de Combat', literally meaning "outside the fight," is a French term used in diplomacy and international law to refer to soldiers who are incapable of performing their military function. Soldiers 'hors de combat' are normally granted special protections according to the laws of war, sometimes including prisoner of war status. Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions defines:

A person is 'hors de combat' if:

(a) he is in the power of an adverse Party;
(b) he clearly expresses an intention to surrender; or
(c) he has been rendered unconscious or is otherwise incapacitated by wounds or sickness, and therefore is incapable of defending himself;

provided that in any of these cases he abstains from any hostile act and does not attempt to escape.

On numerous occasions these LTTE unlawful combatants pretended to surrender, only blow themselves up killing or injuring SLA soldiers accepting the surrender. So LTTE scumbags, in addition to being unlawful combatants, clearly violated the provision to abstain from any hostile act while expressing an intention to surrender.

Cheers!

MR has done us (Sri Lanka) proud. He has challanged India to drop Parippu if it likes or invade Sri Lanka. Even if they did do so the operation will continue until total decimation of the LTTE.

Konappu Bandara,

Good points about the applicability of the Geneva Convention Protocols to LTTE cadre.

Let me add a few more points to yours:

When enemy fighters DISCARD THEIR UNIFORMS and fight wearing civilian clothing, they DO NOT QUALIFY for these protections.

Until the last phase of the war in the Mullaivaikal area, LTTE cadre wore uniforms. In the last phase, most of them discarded their uniforms, but continued to fight in civilian clothing hiding among civilians. As such, they are clearly NOT ENTITLED to the Geneva protections afforded to COMBATANTS. Even Nadesan, Pulidevan and Ramesh .. who usually wore uniforms .. were apparently without uniforms!

Furthermore, using civilians as a HUMAN SHIELD is a CLEAR VIOLATION of the Geneva Convention, and is A WAR CRIME!

Lastly, as you say, in the heat of battle, in a war in which the LTTE has OFTEN RESORTED TO DIRTY TRICKS on and off the battlefield, it is not possible to GUARANTEE the LIVES of ANYONE.

That is why the LTTE leadership should have accepted President Mahinda Rajapaksa's REPEATED CALLS for SURRENDER WITHOUT PRECONDITIONS.

Those offers were made 1-year, 3-months, and 1-month before the end of the war, but the INCURABLY SUPERIOR, HIGHLY INTELLIGENT, LTTE TERRORIST LEADERSHIP chose to rely on being rescued by their friends abroad, and paid in trumps for their VERY BAD CHOICE.

They had SUCCEEDED so many times in escaping justice by that very same strategy, they were PRE-CONDITIONED to believe they could escape again, but like the BOY WHO CRIED WOLF too many times, this time it BACKFIRED .. BIG TIME!

GOOD RIDDANCE to BAD RUBBISH, I say!

A Bunch of Cats
Who Did it On the Rocks
Kept pawing the Rocks
To Covet it -To Cover it.

Only Paws Got Soiled
And they began to bleed

With Soiled Paws
Blaming Each Other,

"Why the Hell Did we
Sit on this Rock"
Painting they are
Each Other's Faces
With what they wanted to hide
And the blood in the Paws

As Mahindapala says:

Do not believe what Wimal says about SF; He is going to Kade to MR.

Do not believe what SB says about SF; He is going to Kade to MR.

Do not believe what Johnny says about SF; He is going to Kade to MR.

Do not believe what Gota says about SF; He is the the brother of MR.

Do not believe what Mangala says about SF. He is going to kade for LTTE diaspora.

Do not believe what Ranil says about SF. He is going to Kade for Miliband and Solehim.

Do not believe what the Sunday Leader says about SF. The paper is going to Kade for Ranil.

Do not believe what JVP says about SF. The JVP is trying to increase their goda.

Do not believe what MR says about SF. MR wants to be the President for next six years.

Believe only what SF says about himself. Even to go Kade for himself he can only speak contradictions, delusions and hate.

popularity of news websites have changed since three weeks ago.

unp.lk, etc. are gaining popularity fast.

in comparison, mahinda2010 is not gaining popularity fast enough.

other websites also show the same trend.

of course a large number of ppl get info through email, facebook, twitter, youtube, etc. that is not included bcos not measurable.

ponseka has won the internet war

govt MUST accept defeat in the internet war to ponseka and plan ahead.

if they don't accept this FACT it is their STUPIDITY.

now what the govt should do is conduct an investigation into ponseka's deals, treason, etc. and take LEGAL measures.

what is needed now is ACTION not internet/paper wars.

Tamil Nadu election which was held on 13th May 2009. This was scheduled a long time ago and it was public knowledge. Fonseka, the army commander at that time, knew this as well. He planned a trip to China long time ago with his son in law who was in Sri Lanka at this time. The trip was planned well ahead and airline tickets were booked and the itinerary was well planned. He left the island on 11th May 2009.

At the same time a massive international effort was underway to free LTTE leaders. It came to a point when it was uncertain whether the war would continue. Tamil Nadu election was held at a very crucial time when sensitivities of the war in Sri Lanka were very high. Expecting the Tamil Nadu election and the impact on it by the war in Sri Lanka, local authorities scaled downed the war for a few days allowing IDPs and relief services.

Fonseka agreed with this plan and left the island hoping that nothing much will happen until he is back.

The Tamil Nadu election concluded and the humanitarian operation gathered momentum. Votes were counted and the incumbent party had secured victory. Congress-I after winning elsewhere was preparing for talks with the DMK – the winners in Tamil Nadu. It was certain that the DMK leader would press for a ceasefire of some sort during these bargains.

Sri Lanka and India had to make a choice. They decided to make good use of the small window of opportunity and finish off the tigers before talks, negotiations, bargains and horse trading would begin between the Tamil Nadu winners and Congress-I for power in Indian parliament. A well planned attack was launched on LTTE fortifications disabling the terrorists, forcing them to release all civilians. Once all the civilians were out of LTTE control both parties got locked in a brutal battle. LTTE was annihilated in no time. By May 17th the war was over. At this time Fonseka was abroad. He felt he was let down by the Defence Secretary, Vanni overall commander and the best ground commanders who ‘didn’t wait for him’.

He came back to Sri Lanka and was feeling that he ‘missed the action’. He feared that he would be unable to claim glory for the war which made him hysterical. He started making statements to the press at a rate unseen before. He even broke the news of LTTE leader’s death himself. But still he was feeling ‘let down’. The Defence Secretary was instructed by his colleagues in India and he had to do what was best for the nation. Security forces could not wait for any auspicious moment, they couldn’t wait for any planets, stars or individuals; they had to grasp the opportunity and end the cancer for good and they did it.

Fonseka never thought the war would end in May 2009. To his sheer astonishment, able commanders won the war without his input. This led to an enormous hate build-up against the Defence Secretary, the Vanni Overall Commander who is the present Army Commander and best Sri Lankan ground commanders. This hatred was displayed many times from Fonseka’s statements. Other issues aggravated it.

The highly popularized statement he supposedly made to the Sunday Leader on the 13th December 2009 was one such event of display. It is not likely to end there as the Defence Secretary has, quite correctly, sought legal redress. Now the Sunday Leader is at crossroads whether to handover the tape or not. If the tape is not handed over, the newspaper and the journalist may be charged for defamation, etc. If it was handed over and if a competent court finds that Fonseka was misreported, still the same charge would emerge. But if they handover the tape and if it can be established that the Sunday Leader didn’t misreport the statement by Fonseka, he will have to face the law. To divert attention Fonseka has merely threatened to sue the Sunday Leader alleging that they misreported him. However, so far no letter of demand has been sent and no legal action has been taken which means it is merely a threat.

We heard Presidents secretary Lalith Weeratunga ( Every body respect him as an honest uncorrupted government officer) , who was an eyewitness and he was physically present at both meetings.
1. This was prior to the Indian election. During the final stages of the war while the LTTE leadership was still active and government struggling to finish and win the war. Powerful Indian delegation has come and requested the government to stop the war. President has told them straight away even if the Indian forces land again in SL he will not stop the war to liberate our nation.

2. Mr Miliband and Bernard Kouchner, his French counterpart visited SL. During the final stages of the war while the LTTE leadership was still active and government struggling to finish and win the war. Powerful EU delegation has come and requested the government to stop the war. President has told that we are independent nation we have to fulfill the demands of the people.

President Rajapakse is capable of protecting our nation where as SF has already given in to western nations who want to divide our nation. He has already given in to foreign forces with fabricated information on crimes. There are no two choices at this election. there is only one choice for our nation

/'All armed forces fully behind me'
Jan 4 (AD)

This is the first time in history of this country that all the armed forces are standing together as one. They are supporting my candidacy as one, said Presidential candidate General (Retired) Sarath Fonseka addressing a JVP rally at Campbell Park in Borella. There are only a few officers who are supporting the President and his brother and are resorting to thuggery and intimidation./
